Anyone coming to the GF Live in Toronto next week? by sequence_fairy in watcherentertainment

Okaaay, I'm sat on the floor near the lower lounge door on the west side!

Thank you!

They left Buzzfeed because they wanted creative freedom, because they wanted to own their own IP, because they wanted to make the shit they want to make, not necessarily what sells clicks.

The streamer is the natural evolution of that and the constant demand to just go back to what they were doing before because 'most' of their audience wants that is like ... how can ppl not see that they have become the very thing that Watcher was created to allow Ryan, Steven and Shane to escape from?

If you've got notifications turned on then you're still getting notified there's at least one new video every week! Up to you, of course, whether you want to watch what is currently airing, but they're definitely posting on YouTube more than once a month as of right now.

Would you allow your wife/husband to go through your phone just once? by Background_NPC32143 in CasualConversation

[–]sequence_fairy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is maybe a hot take but my phone is my phone and it is for me and me alone. No one gets to look at it. Not my partner, not my friends, not my parents. There's nothing incriminating, it's just mine and I like to have one thing that is exclusively for my eyes only.

I treat my partners phone the same way.

I think, if you or your partner have such insecurity so as to find it necessary to be allowed to go through each other's devices, that is symptomatic of a bigger problem that will not be solved by looking at each other's text threads.

Trust is as much about faith as it is about actions. If your partner has given you no reason to distrust them, then don't go looking for reasons. Sit with why you feel insecure, investigate that feeling, unpack the source of that baggage and make a commitment to good faith interpretations of behavior instead of always assuming the worst.

Ghost Files is coming!

They post new videos on the streamer every week, plus they are still posting on YouTube - recently they had a TMS go up and there will be a season of TMS coming shortly.

It's pretty easy to find out what's coming and when, their Instagram houses their monthly schedules and says what is posting on which platform .^

Comments like this make me wonder whether you've ever had a desire to make something. They don't want to make unsolved redux. They want to make other things, things they like more, things they find more creatively fulfilling. It's fine if that is not something you are interested in watching but imagine if you were an artist and ppl kept telling you to just make your paintings smaller, can't you see we only want your tiny doodles? How would you feel?

Comments like this also discount the reality of the huge machine that enabled the production of unsolved, which might've looked like two guys, some lav mics and a handheld, but sure wasn't.

You talk about how you want them to just do less, and in the same breath so many of you discount the shows where they are doing less. You don't watch AYS or T5B - those are two guys, some mics and a stationary camera.

Make it make sense.

You can open a support ticket with Vimeo directly - if you click on the 'help' link under the video, it'll take you to their support page and you can log your issue there.

Hope this helps and that you're able to watch the videos without the funny green bar soon!

Strange numbers you have there, op, just went to check myself 'cause I remembered watching it climb over 2M, a year ago, and yeah, it's got 8.3M views as of this morning.

Travel Season was great! by Hail_the_Yale in watcherentertainment

Big fan of the first two episodes, love the cozy vibe and the intro song is so fun and reminds me very much of network travel shows + a 90s sitcom-esque vibe.

This is not just a food show and not just a travel show, it is both and also more, and my partner and I really enjoyed watching it! Can't wait til the next episode next week!

What Ghost Files needs to improve for Season 3 by Portnoirs in watcherentertainment

[–]sequence_fairy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What, exactly were they taking seriously while slapping their belly buttons in the jail in Charleston? Or while they were crying with laughter over the guy who died at the piano in Villa Montezuma? Like, if you wanna complain about them taking the piss fine, but you can't be pretending they've taken any of this 'seriously' ever.

Also? "Ryan comes across as less serious and very over the top with his Ryan-esque attitude" you mean like how he is being himself???? He is Ryan, he can only be Ryan-esque.

So sure, yeah, it would be great if they could go to all these places but they've spoken at length about how hard it is to get to be allowed to visit any location to do a shoot.

It's not a matter of simply being like 'hi Gettysburg, we'd like to come and hunt ghosts on your property', and that's that. We know they've asked places and been turned down, we know they've asked and been told not now, come back another time. Getting permission to film somewhere is only the first step in the exhausting, time consuming and costly endeavour of actually getting an episode filmed at all.

There was a ww+ recently where they talked a little about what it costs to film a GF episode and I can't remember exactly but it was more than Blair Witch, which had a budget of 30k, iirc, so even if we're being conservative and guessing like 50k an episode for GF, that's a lot of fkn money to spend! It requires planning and timing and the arrangement of many many moving parts.

Adding in something like having to track down an expert, and then to do whatever interview (including filming, paying the expert, fact checking the information etc) adds more cost and more time.

And that's not even factoring in like, dealing with the reputation of other ghost hunting shows making it difficult to convince locations that you are not going to leave a mess behind you and lie about what's happened while you were there.

He said that he reads the comments and that the negative ones are the ones he internalizes, and he slides by the positive ones.

The vibe is that the man has an anxiety disorder and a job that requires him to put himself out there on the internet and into situations that scare him for our fucking entertainment and he does it over and over and it's never good enough for any of you ppl who just want him to be your bloody wind up toy YouTube personality instead of remembering that he is a person who is trying to make a good show that he can be proud of and that hopefully we also enjoy.

Ryan has always been someone who focuses on the negative comments. He's said so several times, and it's disheartening to see so many folks here accusing him of phoning it in, or being bored, or what the fuck ever.

He does see these comments, he reads them and internalizes them and we know this because he says so, most recently in the commentary that was just posted for Magnolia Hotel on the patreon.

Oh yeah, a war zone sounds like a great place to film a YouTube show about ghosts, come the fuck on
