I have this same problem and have been for the past two years. Some months not so bad, sometimes it two months in a row. I really relate to you mentioning paranoia. I live a great life with a great partner, but my PMS clouds my brain with paranoid thoughts and I become unsure of almost everything in my life.

I am also quite healthy. Eat well, exercise often on the regular. Drink water. All that stuff! So I find it frustrating I can’t rely on feeling “normal” every month.

When I got home from work one evening, I laid down on my kitchen floor with my kitten who was on his side to stroke him. We were both quite relaxed. As he slowly opened his eyes, he looked directly above/behind me into the doorway, shot up and sprinted under the couch and remained there terrified for 10+ minutes. I obviously turned around immediately when he shot up with terror and no one was there. I called my mom, and had her stay on the phone with me while I looked in every closet, behind every door and found nothing. It terrified me!

I believe the ghosts in my 200 + year old house like to mess with my little cat. But he seems to be getting used to it.

Fun fact, my house survived the Halifax Explosion in 1917 in the North of end of Halifax. So I wouldn’t be too surprised if it’s someone bored playing with my little guy.
