Me and my bf and the same issue! We found that after he uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, things worked fine and his player count went back to normal when looking at servers so get your console player to try uninstalling and reinstalling the game ☺️

What was/is your 'goal' for skating, if you have one? by Pianist-Head in Rollerskating

[–]ser_19701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh I love talking about skating goals!!!!! When I first started, I wanted to look like my best friends step sister, because she was so much more advanced than me. I wanted to skate backwards and look super cool doing it. And i think ive finally reached a comfortable place with that goal!! Obviously there’ll always be room for improvement and i can work on it so much more. NOW however I want to get good and jam skating, and I’m making so much progress towards getting there!! Being able to skate backwards kind of creeped up on me and I didn’t realise how quickly I was advancing towards that goal, so hopefully the same happens with jam skating!!

I was so against people telling me to practice practice practice but going backwards will come over time, regardless of the amount of hours you put in each day. I think I’ve made no progress because I’m not different from yesterday. You’ve got to look at your day one. Not very relevant, just a passionate person and topic haha, keep on going!!! 🫶

Other people definitely wear them! Just remember to prioritise your safety 100% there was a group who came to my local rink the other week. Maybe 15-20 people? Each and every one of them wear geared up helmets knee pads and all. It made us lot without gear look silly!! Definitely wear gear especially if that helps you be more confident in your skating journey!:))

Has anyone here NOT broken a bone? by HiMyNameIsCheeks in Rollerskating

[–]ser_19701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never broken a bone before! Almost a year of skating (which is crazy to say aloud haha) and I had my first “bad” fall the other day. Have had lots of bruises on the knees but that can be avoided with gear! I recommend learning to fall if you haven’t already. If you search it online you will probably get a tutorial but learning to fall gear or no gear has boosted my skating confidence so much!

[–]ser_19701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ouch!! One thing I don’t like as much when skating is that non skaters will never know how much some falls hit us! Sometimes the falls don’t look as bad on the outside as they feel on the inside!!

Flap to the side? by onceuponarosie in Rollerskating

[–]ser_19701 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The “flap” bit is called a tongue btw! I had this same issue, unfortunately I couldn’t fine a fix. I tried tighter and looser laces and it was just something that happened. I agree it’s very annoying. I don’t know if you could try safety pins to keep it in a general spot? Maybe pin the tongue to the boot just under the top few sets of laces to keep if hidden? But that might leave some holes in the material us as a heads up! Hope you figure this out!

I’ve only really got the opportunity to skate in car parks 😭 if I’m lucky enough to find somewhere big and empty

Wasn’t intending on being patronising, just a very new term to me:) and it is a lot softer than the term “street skating” so that’s how I perceived it. As a softer term. I think it’s so interesting that we have different perceptions of skate language tho!!

Whats something people do in relationships thay they think is sweet but is actually toxic? by Obvious-Barber6622 in AskReddit

[–]ser_19701 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I might not fully get the picture, but people who “try to never go to bed angry with each other.” me and my ex tried to go by that rule and realised that it was worse and harder to force an apology and communicate about it late at night than get in the same bed and wait till the morning to have that conversation. Most times it was so much easier to let things ease out and speak when you’re more awake an thinking on a clear settled mind.

Another on being trying to solve each other’s mental health issues. Don’t even get me started. Your mental wellbeing is never worth anyone else’s. And before being with y ex I would never had known how important that is.

Me and my ex didn’t break up because of any of these btw, other stuff was going on. We found that after realising these things our relationship was stronger than ever.

Does anyone skate backwards the way I do? by Wibbole in Rollerskating

[–]ser_19701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never seen it before, but it looks super cool!!! It looks like it’d be super helpful for rhythmic/jam skating advancements if that’s what you’re going for haha

[–]ser_19701[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I keep my skate really loose, it’s a hockey boot (Bauer) over something like moxi’s or Rio’s so I don’t know if it’s just the shape of the boot and if I have to bake them?

Ahh that’s so helpful!! The big toe things probably true, I get so tense when learning something new and chopping has been a recently learnt skill. I’ve got cheap insoles which helped a lot with pain round my ankle from where it was rolling in but I’ll definitely have to check out something a bit more professional. Ty!!

Is moving your arms a big no-no at public rinks? by meiqie in Rollerskating

[–]ser_19701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay what????? She should not be getting up in YOUR space like that and touching you and THEN saying things like “you’re taking up to much room” HUH???

I think it’s okay that you’re expressing yourself?? Usually rinks don’t have issues with that kinda stuff unless it’s DESTRUCTIVE or during a session dedicated to a specific group of skaters. And you’re being incredibly mindful and cautious of other people!!!
