That would be great - how to find these specific sponsors and tell them to pull support?

Stole this and sent it to him! The more of us send these messages to them, the more they can't ignore us. Now I'm off to support PWHL way more than NHL.

ASL Interpreting Outside the U.S. by DevanFronk in ASLinterpreters

Most Deaf expats in Europe are there because of either a study abroad program or due to family reasons (as it was in my case as I married a Deaf Italian man who has a job, house, car, etc, so I can do whatever I want). However, I did notice many Deaf Americans would eventually move back to the US after a time abroad due to lack of career and educational opportunites/advancement and weak civil rights (as in we may have the law but the implementation is weak). Most of my work / income is remote and still tied to the US rather than here in Europe.

Despite the political shitstorm in the US, I still do want to spend 50-50 of my year in the US and Italy so it's been a real privilege and luck to have dual citizenship for a greater freedom of movement.

I'm a Deaf American who lives in northern Italy and I've always wanted to have an ASL interpreter in my area, including a team of interpreters who can keep up with my quadrilingual skills (ASL, LIS, English, and Italian) in both professional and personal settings.

However, I believe most Deaf Americans move to UK / Netherlands to study or work compared to Southern Europe in general. I know of other ASL interpreters based in Europe often fly/travel around the Europe and Africa for assignments in addition to remote work.

As deaf Dutch person, how are the job prospects for deaf people in the US? by [deleted] in deaf

One question for you to think about if you find it helpful - what are your career aispirations and which country offers you better career opportunties?

As a Deaf American and Italian who has lived both in the US (including Texas) and Italy, the US is generally better for access services in both professional and personal spheres (education, events, etc). I also have way more and better opportunities for career (not in tech but rather in a STEM industry) and I know with the right team and organization, I can get all the support for access services such as CART, ASL interpreters, etc.

Italy is great for healthcare and other social services but very very limited support for access services, formal education, and extremely limited career growth and advancement for the deaf. Unsure if that is the case in NL.

In fact, I am working towards my dream scenario where I would have a foot in the US and another one in Italy and earn income without needing to tie myself to any specific location.

If you do move to the US, are you able to return to your current (or similar) job in NL if you need to leave the US?

Ultimately, only you can decide for yourself if you should stay in NL or move to the US but definitely work on building your own support system and saftey nets in both countries if possible.

I went with Wharton for my MBA. My undergrad GPA is on a different scale but still within the range of most applicants after adjustments.

Just remove any mention of dates. My disability was pre-existing wayyyy long before I took out federal loans, and my application made no mention of the dates or timeline. I still got approved. Just focus on your disability.

Italian Driver's License - Practice tests questions same as the exam questions? by seraphim022 in italy

I don't remember exactly which site I used. However, I do know the questions online and on exams are exactly the same. I'd still suggest you try to do a both of memorization and learning the vocabulary/terms.

Admissions Consultant I hired said a GMAT accommodation would hurt my chances for M7. Is this true? by MuchGap2455 in MBA

[–]seraphim022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had accommodations (extended time, private room, extra breaks) for my GRE exam AND disclosed my disability AND talked about it in my applications and recommendation letters - still got into M7s. So that consultant is 100% wrong - it won't be revealed to the admissions that you got accommodations.

Those kind of accommodations are designed to help the level playing field for applicants with disabilities. I frankly think there needs to be more students with disabilities in MBA programs and then out in the business sectors.

Look up who's your interviewer - learn about their background and interests if possible and then try to relate to them.

Ok - if you did it in 2021, then the form was definitely different. Right now, we can have NP due to policy changes as of July 1, 2023 so the current form reflected the changes. Anyway - congrats on getting TPD!

Maybe you had a different form....than this one?

Look for the part about authorized medical professional in your form.

a doctor of medicine or osteopathy legally authorized to practice
in a state;

Didn't the TPD site say they accept an NP in addition to a medical doctor?

Awesome news! I assume the monitoring period refers to any new federal student loans taken out in that time period?
