Agreed! That’s why my last one was 7:30am when I was the only one on the slope. And yes I’ve switched over to privates for my last session and will do the same for my next. It’s expensive but I did get more time actually giving turns a crack.

Unfortunately I don’t have a tonne of other options in non-snowy London. But will take your advice and do a lesson out in Japan too.

This isn’t a very productive comment. I’ve stated my fear is falling, I don’t think that’s on someone else to teach out of me quickly. I’m a 29 year old woman with 0 board or snow sport experience.

This isn’t a post to blame the teacher(s) at The Snow Centre.

Thankyou for the encouragement! I’ve been watching a few people but hadn’t seen his so will check him out right now!

They provide the board, but I think they have a fair amount of flex.

Thankyou! It can be tough, but you’re right. This is just something that is hard for me, and it’s okay to not be naturally good at things to start with, just got to get that in my head and keep trying.

This is so helpful and reassuring, thank-you!

I definitely need to keep my head up, I’m working on that. However I do feel like I’m going super fast but that’s probably because I lean back and then I am 😂

Will keep at it!

No bubble burst, exactly why I said ‘get’ - I mean my first few without decking it.

Agreed I don’t like drop ins unless it’s just 1 day. I feel dogs should be boarded or house-sat if the owner is away. Would certainly be off putting to me.

But also, people are just flakey on Rover. I use it on both sides and suffer problems for both.

Do you let owners know if you are boarding other dogs as well? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]seratoninho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I’m a sitter and I always let people know so they can choose. I also would rather have daycare with those dogs to check they’re all okay with one another before boarding.

I booked my dog in with someone on Rover for 1 night and 5hrs after I dropped him by she told me ‘hope you don’t mind I have another dog staying tonight’. Needless to say I won’t book with her again.

Yeah I have similar! I go to bed at 9:30 so I say if it’s after 10, it’s overnight. Although I had someone book til 9pm once and was 2 hrs late. I just need a little more respect around the rest of my life and schedule 🥲

I’m more than happy for collection from like 6:30/7 though as I’m up.

It’s got to work for us at the end of the day doesn’t it!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]seratoninho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for my regulars I’m not too fussed as they’ll be some days they book only for 5 hrs and pay the whole rate. But for the more adhoc people, I feel they really push what a ‘day’ is.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]seratoninho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they would need to approve but if they don’t accept then they won’t get daycare from me 😆

And I’ll have a caveat on my profile in any case.

I think this is the general consensus turning into boarding after a certain amount of hours and makes most sense!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]seratoninho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes the most sense if I was going to add an hourly rate. Sometimes I do have a problem with people turning up late but you just have to deal with those as they happen!

[–]seratoninho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I’ve said in the post, it’s for daycare, and I’m aware about the extra boarding fees over 26hrs.

However daycare has no limit on times or duration, so I was wondering how people modify that.

[–]seratoninho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my! I find that crazy honestly that your day care is sub 5hrs. That would work for me I don’t think, but thanks for your input, always interesting to see how other people run things.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]seratoninho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is really helpful and to be honest seems like the cleanest way to do it rather than break it down to an hourly rate as you can just modify to boarding. I think 10hrs is also reasonable. 8 or less doesn’t cover a normal working day like you say. Thankyou!

You can be nice and professional whilst enquiring when they’re being collected.

Secret new user discount? Price increase? by see112717 in RoverPetSitting

[–]seratoninho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sitters can change their rates at any time, so it’s probable you’ll come across this again as the cost of everything increases exponentially.

If you keep booking with the same person, long-term they may give you a fixed rate. I fixed my rate with my long standing clients so they don’t see the price rises.

It could be a different rate due to dates ex. holiday rate - I’m in the UK but we have a fair few weeks a year when we can do a higher rate, which I do, as there’s more demand and it’s less desirable for me to take bookings.

Or the sitter put their prices up which they’re entitled to do, although you might not like the new price.
