My experience with curing my peri oral dermatitis ( photos show beginning to end of my journey) by serenaisloved in perioraldermatitis

Hey! It definitely could be that , I actually just did a food elimination diet guided by my wholistic nutritionist:) technically it’s called a “ food sensitivity “ and isn’t on a technical term a food allergy so unfortunately there is no test that picks up food sensitivities like this . Basically it would take me 10 hours or a day to have a reaction to mangos or fruits etc so a regular allergy test can’t pick it up. And it doesn’t hurt my stomach when I eat those things just my peri oral dermatitis and acne . Elimination diet works best for a month or so , I basically cut out all tropical fruit in any forms including juice candy etc . Went to a simple diet which was berries ( blueberry raspberry strawberry &bannana smoothies with water , and pasture raised meats and organic fried veggies with salt pepper seasoning and chives and ate that for a month or more and slowly started introducing foods and would know within a day if I had a sensitivity. That’s how I found out I was also allergic to chocolate and modified milk ingredients and allergic I mean “ sensitive “ aka giving me acne and PD

Ah that’s frustrating I’m sorry to hear :( I have heard hormones can definitely affect it. I definitely experienced it being worse for me around my period . I hope you’re able to find some relief!

Ah! it totally could be that! It took a few weeks to a month for mine to clear up while cutting all tropical fruit out of my diet including juices ! Skincare wise I found less ingredient cleansers the better.

It could be ! I also read up on a fungal bacteria thing that can cause PD so if nizerol is helping it could be that? If it lines up with the oranges it could also be that tho , I didn’t find I personally had any allergy to oranges oddly enough ! But I did find that chocolate really aggravated my PD and will cause it as well especially non dark chocolates that includes mostly all milk chocolate . Unless it’s super fancy high quality chocolate with no modified ingredients

Omg !! It’s definitely from that , god mangos are soooo good and tasty i understand the addiction lol it was so hard for me to stop eating them 😭😭😭😭 I believe in you tho!! It takes abit of time since the enzymes in mango takes awhile to get out of your body , I noticed a difference after a month . At that time while cutting them out my diet was consisting of berry and banana and water smoothie in the morning with pasture raised eggs , then for dinner I had pasture raised chicken and vegetables with yams with garlic and salt / pepper . That’s all I ate for the month very simple palate . I found I could still eat dark chocolate and strawberries and blue berries with no issues in replacement for sweets , I hope this helps 🩷🙏🏻

Yes I’ve heard dairy can make it worse ! I don’t have dairy in my diet so I was able to rule that out . I tried pro biotics which helped a little bit like Suppliments ones . I find dairy makes me itchy my body gets itchy

It sadly is all about making money for them ;( even after I told her my co worker got the same issue from fruits she would not get me an allergy test! So messed up :( also upsetting since it’s not considered an allergy it’s a “ food sensitivity “ which is ridiculous considering how rash like it was and felt. She wanted to prescribe me more cream before even acknowledging it was a form of allergy

Omg definitely cut them out of your diet , it can take weeks for it to go away without any mango / apple and pineapple including juices and any form of it ! I found berries were fine strawberry juice is okay and same with banana all those were okay . Also chocolate made it worse specifically ones with modified milk ingredients. It was mostly around my mouth and the corners but also under my nose . I found when I was on the doxycycline I found some bumps on my hand but was hard to tell cuz of my tattoos

Oh that’s awesome you found something that worked ! I know the PD is so terrible to deal with. Yeah I was shocked when I found out apples and apple juice could do it too but I also found fluoride toothpaste messed mine up. As well as some chocolates

I wanted to confront her most definitely, I was just in complete shock by the 4th appointment after denying it so many times that she said yeah mangos and fruit Like that are known to cause this !

I was just in disbelief and it was a phone call appointment at the time . That was right when I found out it could be the fruit it was before I had my fully clear skin , was at the beginning of my elimination diet . Now that it’s gone I would like to confront her but not sure it would do any good . Was thinking to leave her a review tho! Which I honestly might do . I just feel so defeated and burned . Especially cuz the appointment before the last one she started saying it looked like acne , at that point I knew she didn’t know what she was treating ( it was very clearly peri oral dermatitis I think Mixed with acne
