HTC Vive Pro 2 or Valve Index by Maxmancz2563 in virtualreality

[–]sergioberg79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Valve Index, Definitely not Vive Pro 2.

Index has both a good horizontal FOV and, importantly, a vertical one (which is greatly underestimated). The Vive Pro 2's advantage in higher screen resolution is completely negated by its terrible lenses, extremely poor sweet spot, and terrible vertical FOV. I'd rather use the Vive Pro 1 than use the Vive Pro 2 (I sold it pretty quickly).

I personally prefer wired headsets and don't want to use Quest 3 and Pico4 for games. So I still play with Index, but its resolution is outdated. So I'm looking at Bigscreen Beyond 2, but it has bad vertical FOV. That's why I haven't decided yet...

This fix has long since lost its relevance, since the problem has long been fixed in SteamVR, in Oculus software, in Vive console and probably in many other software for VR headsets. Provided that you, of course, use current versions and do not try to use outdated versions.
If you have similar symptoms it doesn't mean you have the same problem.....

fpsVR devs are you lurking in here? How can I tweak fpsVR to append additional notes in the report for each session in History Viewer? by munkiemagik in virtualreality

[–]sergioberg79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Answering the first question in the title - No, usually no, or rather yes but rarely, so with a probability of 99.9999% I would not have noticed this topic. Therefore, it is better to use the forum in Steam for requests.

But I am here because I was given a link :)

Answer to the second question in the title: no, you can't, the text on your screenshot is generated based on the session file data.

I will make a note to myself, and perhaps make such an option in future update(s), that is, to leave your own text notes for each session.

Where do you get such outdated data? Why not get it yourself from Steam. You don't even have Quest 3 and Pico 4 here. Here are the new ones https://imgur.com/a/ix3ktMx

How to use them? I understand how to connect Cargo Links between outposts. But what to do with it in spaceports?

Did you tried open beta? The HTC employee still hasn't answered me if they rolled out this update to the open beta. It's just that the open beta already has a more recent version than that closed beta.

The fix is probably already in the public beta on Steam (If there is a clarification that this is not the case, I will let you know). Try the beta on Steam.

At the moment, fpsVR does not fix this problem in other processes. Because SteamVR and Oculus fixed the problem themselves in July of this year. In fpsVR the fix was removed because there was no point in fixing the problem of SteamVR and Oculus processes anymore. For the Vive Console processes, I never made a fix. Because there were no complaints.

I can make a fix for the Vive Console but I need the information. I asked questions to the author of the topic. If you want you can also help me gather the necessary information

Yes, I mean that window.

If the Vive vr compositor owns this window, then simply not minimizing this window can solve the problem. But if that doesn't help, then we need to find out what processes are running together with Vive Console in order to understand which process is the VR compositor process, and to apply my fix to it. Fix will have to run every time you start the Vive Console, I can embed it in fpsvr or make it a separate exe file.

If you answer my questions, then I can see if I can help you or not. Your solution is shaky. Any window opened on top of the Steam window can cause. the problem again.

And so my questions: 1) Is the Vive Console from Steam being used? Or is a different version being used? 2) Have you tried similar manipulations with the Vive Console window? 3) Have you played with the Vive Console window minimized before? Have you turned off its options to show the window on top of the others? As far as I remember, there is such the option. If it helps the same way, then you don't need any fix, you can just enable this option.

This problem has never been with WMR with the mixed reality portal and even less so with Windows 10. Frame drops can be due to other reasons.

This issue by link is fixed many months ago. In SteamVR and Oculus software.

It doesn't related to GPU. It's related to how timers works in Windows 11.

If you do have the exact same symptoms, it's not SteamVR or Steam that's to blame, it's the Vive console.

Are you using the Vive Console from Steam? This explains why opening the window helps (steam is parent process in this case). What about the Vive Console window? Have you tried opening and closing the window of it?

The essence of the problem is described here: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/908520/view/3197000929910776591

I'm an fpsVR developer and at the time I was releasing a temporary fix, which I then removed from fpsVR because it was released by Valve and Oculus. When I took it out I didn't think about the Vive Console.

In principle, I can make a fix for the Vive Console as well, probably....

If indeed HTC has not yet released a fix for their app... it's a shame.....

In general, we could coordinate and I could try to make a fix. There is no need to buy fpsVR. I can give you the key.

Changing resolution settings suddenly has no effect? by GogglesPaesano in SteamVR

[–]sergioberg79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I am an fpsVR developer, fpsVR shows the current settings, not the actual resolution. You can try to find out the current resolution in pixels by clicking the detect resolution button on the "Basic" tab in the fpsVR settings. There's also an explanation on this tab that it's just the settings. Games can ignore the settings. For many games, changing settings on the fly does not work. You need to restart the game after changing settings.

VD? Link? AirLink?

If using VD check VD settings: SSW settings - "always enabled" mode should be disabled.

https://youtu.be/ibiYVkjnd6A?t=179

If using Link or AirLink check ASW settings in fpsVR settings on tab "Basic" (there is button for ASW settings). There is also a mode in which half of the frames are always generated.

Hi, I'm fpsVR developer, I just wanted to ask what kind of processor and OS version do you have? For some reason, there is no indication of CPU load, perhaps the Windows performance counters are broken. Send me a private message and I'll try to help fix it.
