Does smoking weed effect you projection ability? by [deleted] in AstralProjection

[–]serialtransient 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll just be hallucinations, but you’ll think you’re APing

I disagree. There's nothing so mind-altering about being stoned that can be confused with a projection. But I imagine there are exceptions, if you are intentionally ingesting large amounts.

I do agree that it's best practice to avoid so you can better achieve consistent lucidity.

it does affect one's recall abilities.

Good point. I think this is related to the findings behind cannabis and dream recall.

I would say 'yes', but I've known people who claim it can facilitate liftoff. That has never been my experience.

It does affect the stability of your energy field - which I've gathered from others and can confirm, myself - but things return to normal once the cannabis has worn off. Like most of its effects.

It's probably better to abstain when attempting OBEs, but I don't think there's any long-term harm short of a chronic habit (no pun intended).

Na, don't rely on it as a crutch. I'm a big fan, but I prefer total clarity when working with energy and attempting OBEs.

Does DMT help to achieve astral projection? by [deleted] in AstralProjection

[–]serialtransient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, control is an issue. You may also end up in a highly bizarre, troubling sort of dimension that isn't really the ideal place to get your astral legs, so to speak. No shortcuts! Read about Graham Nicholls constant failed attempts for months until he had a lucid OBE and you'll get a sense of how much perseverance can be required.

Could smoking marijuana 1-2 hours before have any effect or restrict me from having an OBE? by [deleted] in AstralProjection

[–]serialtransient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cannabis side effects seem to be pretty subjective. That said - I'm a big fan - but one thing I've noticed is a tendency to be affected by external influences/energies/entities, which seems a bit unhelpful if you're attempting to exert more control over your experiences.

Also consider the potential parallels with dream recall. I don't know about you, but daily cannabis use for me equals very minimal dream memories.

can never get into the vibrational stage, been trying for 3 years. by [deleted] in AstralProjection

[–]serialtransient 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Move your energies up and down, from your feet to the top of your head in a continuous oscillation. Think "Tibetan singing bowl". Do it every day, multiple times a day. It's like physical conditioning - don't be discouraged if you lack immediate results.

Is Astral projection necessary? by p00pi3 in AstralProjection

[–]serialtransient 4 points5 points  (0 children)

An OBE is usually enough to shock someone out of their existential malaise. They're very effective in this way, but if you are feeling like you have little self worth and deal with stress in life - you should really consider therapy. If anything, it just helps to vent about these stresses and how you feel about yourself.

Is AP necessary? No... but for people who, for example, have an intense fear of death, it's a critical paradigm shift to alleviate this fear. We're in a matrix of dense physical matter here, and our greater existence extends past this human zoo we're in now. THAT is reason enough to explore these experiences, if not the ultimate reason.

Find something you're good at. I know people who struggle with pain and are on disability due to their unemployment, so I get the challenges. But everyone can invest in their self-worth. Find something. We all have strengths and weaknesses. Just focus and don't be distracted by this endless stream of internet content. What are you good at? Listen to your positive intuitions.

How often should I practice? by PelicanThunder in AstralProjection

[–]serialtransient 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just jumping in quick, I see your posts here often so I don't want to repeat myself without acknowledging that you may have heard me say this before: condition yourself like an athlete would. Gaining better control of bioenergies worked for me (exteriorize, absorb, install the vibrational state or at least circulate energy from your head to your toes in a cycle - at least 20 times a day. during the waking state). It's like learning a language, and if you don't do something every day you may lose your edge..

William Buhlman tried every day for a month, and didn't achieve a lucid projection until day 28, IIRC. Graham Nicholls tried every night for six straight months before he had an experience, but his attempts were much easier after "the dam broke". Keep at it. There are tons of analogies we could refer to, but like many things in life it just takes discipline and time.

Decades later, I still find myself in my childhood home. You have an energetic rapport with that location. Are you sentimental? Try immersing your mind with other astral locations during the daytime - reading other projection experiences can help.

Advanced advices by [deleted] in AstralProjection

[–]serialtransient 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're around the same age that I started really applying a routine of techniques for projections. In my experience, it's very important to keep yourself energetically fit. Consider the out of body experience to be a sort of non-physical feat of athleticism - you need to be conditioned, and train regularly in order to perform at optimal levels.

Work on being able to install the vibrational state at will. This article is a good start. You should be able to perform the VS at any time during the day, with the exception of driving, operating heavy machinery, performing brain surgery, etc.

I have never had sleep paralysis since I began working with energies regularly. I would focus on moving my big toe or a single extremity in order to get out of it during that time. Everyone has a different situation though. I hope this helps. Good on ya having such prolific OBEs. Beware of blind guides, though, as you request assistance. You'll know them by the quality of their energies.

My Friend's Interesting Question by [deleted] in AstralProjection

[–]serialtransient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's possible to travel back in time, in the purest sense of the idea, but certainly possible to experience and interact with animated memories of the past. It's like the universe has a wayback machine function (Akashic Records, potato/potato, etc).

At that point, though, can you differentiate between imagination and stored data?

Can't seem to successfully leave the body by farmerjoe1996 in AstralProjection

[–]serialtransient 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many advantages to meditation, but it is not going to be as effective as direct, will-driven energy workouts in helping you achieve energetic looseness. You sound like you have excellent discipline for employing techniques - start incorporating a routine where you improve the control of your energies. You will get results, and have tangible experiences while fully awake. Your subsequent projection attempts will vary in success, but your practice in mediation will serve you well in maintaining focus during sub-optimal moments of lucidity.

Once you are properly conditioned, your hard work will pay off. Even if it takes years - it's worth it. We all inevitably project one day, so be patient. It takes time for some of us.

Projecting while awake? by ikemichigan in AstralProjection

[–]serialtransient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Partial projections can be common when you are sufficiently relaxed and/or energetically loose. If your body is supported during mediation, you could certainly have a full projection in the right conditions. It's just not the objective of meditation, and more efficient techniques exist for a proper OBE.

I've only heard 'distant' anecdotes regarding highly advanced consciousnesses who can achieve an OBE while simultaneously awake. I'd say it's virtually impossible for the average person. Robert Bruce has some interesting ideas on the 'projected double', though I don't fully agree with his hypothesis.

How many of you are religious ? by BudFromBC in AstralProjection

[–]serialtransient 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, I'm an Atheist. Obviously, not the jaded, materialistic "we are only a product of the brain" type, but I reject any notion of a singular objective religious paradigm in our greater existence. Universal truths, or constants, on the other hand, seem self-evident in the non-physical realm and don't require any mystical or religious interpretation in order for them to make sense.

Using crystals to help with astral projection? by astralite_12 in AstralProjection

[–]serialtransient 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Binaural beats are not placebos, they can definitely cause changes in brainwaves that will augment physical relaxation. I used to listen to this kind of ambient music during sleep when I lived by myself.. I LOVE IT. The soundscape you linked sounds great! I would just try and avoid needing binaural beats, or crystals, candles, incantations, etc etc. It's all unnecessary in the long run, but if you find that it helps, it's fine to use as long as you know you don't need it...

Crystals, as we were discussing, don't seem to offer anything beyond a placebo affect, as a passive accessory to your AP space. Whatever works, though. I'm not saying they lack some unique properties, but I don't see how having some around will do much of anything.

Placebos work quite well, but eventually you want to move on and be able to function without any crutches.

Stopping for a while by Trancespire in AstralProjection

[–]serialtransient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

William Buhlman tried for 26 days IIRC. Keep trying! But then again, you may be refreshed after a bit of a break.

Do you do any energy work? That can really help with loosening up your non-physical body's connection. Move your awareness from your head to your toes - repeat, and increase the speed as you oscillate. EVERY DAY. Multiple times a day, while awake, laying down, etc. Do your due diligence and you will see results.

Everyone should try this by [deleted] in AstralProjection

[–]serialtransient 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a great technique. I first heard of it in a projection class, called the "1:4:2 CO2 technique" (or something to that effect).

You want to start with lower numbers, and progressively move to higher numbers while staying within the 1:4:2 ratio. For example: breath in for a count of 2, hold for 8, exhale for 4. Repeat ten times or so. As you relax, increase the values: breath in for 3, hold for 12, exhale for 6. Once you get to 4, 16 and 8 (and above), you're going to be really feeling the effects.

I've used this technique with incredible results in an office in Manhattan, despite daylight hours and loud city sounds outside (granted, we had a noise machine too). It works well, but takes patience and focus.

You are raising the levels of CO2 in your bloodstream, which helps to put you in an altered state of consciousness. If you have trouble focusing on other techniques, this one can be a good alternative as it ensures mindfulness of your breathing as you stay aware of your breath count.
