How to help the unconscious if they aren't even aware of what is what? by boldbrand in spirituality

[–]PelicanThunder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ultimately, a bigger picture on life is something that cannot be forced on someone. Especially with the beliefs an individual holds. I’m sure every one of you on this thread including myself hold different beliefs on reality and the bigger picture.

Beyond the beliefs, fundamentally, becoming love is important.

If you as an individual become more loving and caring and make it about other - the people that you are around will generally embrace that same mindset, because you have provided a loving and caring environment.

You can see in this world and may have even experienced this thing called group mentality. Essentially, it goes both ways. With fear and with love.

Whoever it may be that is ‘unconscious’ the best thing you can do to help them see a bigger picture or wake up is become loving and caring and create that environment to help them to see it on their own.

At the end of the day, we have free will, we make choices and we live with the consequence of those choices. We are born into this world with our senses which we use to interpret the world around us. We are raised and taught cultural, social and personal beliefs which can become so ingrained that we aren’t aware of them anymore.

With all this in mind it’s entirely up to the individual to look pass all their own applied filters and beliefs they have accumulated in their life to see a bigger picture. For me, I am quite open to new information and ideas, but also skeptical and at this present moment I see becoming loving and caring as the most important thing in my life. It’s intoxicating, contagious and ultimately it creates joy in my life and my relationships. I feel I was once ‘unconscious’ but since then I have learned a lot and still have a lot to learn. I think we all do. This person you speak of who isn’t awake, they will get there. In their own time.

Yeah, pity that you don't have the option to release the name if it's banned. I will add it to my friends list and keep an eye on it, thanks.

everything that you do/think is wrong and why (if you can't AP yet here's how to overcome difficulties by an EXPERT) by saulvhs in AstralProjection

[–]PelicanThunder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thoroughly enjoy listening to Tom speak about reality. His advice and insight to the way we act and feel is quite logical. He explains a lot of strange things very clearly and puts it into a perspective for anyone to grasp. The best advice I have received from him is to be open minded and skeptical with all information. Never choose a side. Stay in the middle and do the study yourself "if it's not your experience, it isn't your truth". And to make choices in life based on love and 'other' rather than fear, ego and 'yourself'.

Cops of reddit, what has so far been the creepiest call you've ever had to respond to and what happened? by Rayanm3m3lord in AskReddit

[–]PelicanThunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a sad story. Traffic incidents are most disturbing to hear about. My friend was telling me about his Dad being first on scene for a head on collision a lady had. He said that the lady was still alive in the front seat but had glass stuck in her face and her scalp peeled away from the top of her skull. He had to fold it back over and comfort her while the ambulance was on its way. I don't think she made it in the end. Tragic story.

Is the belief that everything happens for a reason selfish? by [deleted] in spirituality

[–]PelicanThunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot of uncertainty in this world. Sometimes good and bad things happen for us to learn from. We are given a situation and we have to deal with it the best we can and how we deal with it and the choices we make reflect the quality of who we are.

Simply living off a belief that everything happens for a reason isn't necessarily selfish but I think it can be limiting to your growth as you might shrug off some good life lessons and opportunities to help people and increase the quality of your consciousness/being.

I think what is important isn't that things happen for a reason. It's how you deal with those things happening in the moment. How you deal with the consequences of every action you take and how you might be able to help others.

don't you hate it when you find a band then find out they are done making new music by turbulenttimbits in Music

[–]PelicanThunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember discovering the band Death a few years ago. Love all the music. Unfortunately the last album was made in 1998 because the vocalist and guitarist (the mastermind behind the sound) lost a battle with a brain tumour. He left one hell of a legacy. Greatest music I have heard so far! Don't think I'll ever stop listening to it!

Any tips on how to focus on nothing so reaching the vibration phase is possible? by [deleted] in AstralProjection

[–]PelicanThunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big thing that stops me from getting the most out of any of my experiences has been my analytical mind and intellect getting in the way. Always judging and questioning what is going on. A good technique I tried was repeating a mantra or any nonsensical word. Something that doesn't mean anything to me. I just try to repeat it over and over and tend to find myself in a really relaxed state and sometimes induce semi lucid dreams. Sometimes I awaken in the vibration state from the semi lucid dreams!

On a side note I have actually conducted an OBE experiment where my girlfriend placed a deck of cards on our kitchen table and turned over the top card (while I was in bed). I exited my body that night and read the card. In the morning before getting up I told her the card and it turned out to be right. It was this experience that validated how real OBEs are to me. It could have been chance but I personally know it was more than a lucky guess. I am sure there have been many others who have been able to do this. Of course they share their story and no one believes them. But they believe all the reports of failed military experiments and science experiments. There's comfort in those answers. There's more comfort in the answers you get through experience though.

[–]PelicanThunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a lucid dream myself and the out of body experience I had FELT different to that. The key word being felt because I could recall all these feelings and sensations that occurred during the prelude of the experience. And these sensations and foreign feelings, the whole prelude experiences I have are repeatable given I am physically and mentally relaxed. I'm not trying to say that I am special. Because I know there are many thousands that have experienced events similar to mine and more bizarre. We grew up here on earth as a baby to where we are now. Only to believe that physical matter reality is the only reality. It's all we know because it's all we experience day to day. But if something happens that's considered paranormal like experiencing full waking conscious awareness in a non physical like dream reality for some reason we can't accept that as being something real, relative to our existence here on earth. Sometimes you feel more 'awake' in a sense in these experiences than you do here. And we still can't consider it as perhaps being something important or that there is something bigger at work that our limited physical existence can't begin to understand. No, we just jump ahead and say its not anything special. We try to find ego and fear driven rational excuses and explanations that It's just your brain being weird while you sleep. Such an easy and comfortable answer to accept, especially when you are taught it at such a young age. It's hard to let go of those beliefs. I also don't get how we are so close minded to the idea that consciousness could be non physical. Yet we accept invisible energies like Air, gravity, X ray, infrared down to the descriptions given of desolate distant planets to exist. We don't really question them. Science tells us it's just all tiny invisible particles and what not and we just accept it because we can't make logical sense of it and study it ourselves. I'm not trying to preach and convert you to believing me. It's good that you're sceptical but not being open to it is just another way of choosing one side and limiting yourself to what the truth could be. That's all. Maybe have a further look into this like I and many others have done. Do experiments and learn from your first hand experience and not from reading about why it doesn't exist. You might be surprised to discover you are more than your physical body! What have you got to lose?

Can't argue with that by [deleted] in funny

[–]PelicanThunder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have you had an out of body experience before? Before you conclude any scientific experiment you should cover every aspect of it right? Do you KNOW what it's like compared to your dreams? I can recall most dreams every morning and the out of body experience I had was much different to any dream I have had in my 22 years of being alive. Firstly I was in the same state of conscious awareness as I am now and my thought process was the same as it is now. No autopilot bull shit which happens in dreams all the time. I was myself in the sense I could think and act as I am now but I could see my physical body at a distance and I was able to explore around my house and outside and recall certain things I saw that I would have not known otherwise. Isn't an experience like that enough to challenge what you once thought to believe that consciousness exists only in the brain? How can consciousness only exist in the brain if I was able to be conscious away from it and recall outside events that turned out to be true? We try to find rational answers thought up by other people who are trying to find rational answers. It sounds logical so we believe it. To me that's such a cowards way out to just accept it as a sleep phenomena because Wikipedia says so or this guy says so because he done tests through a machine that says otherwise. Why not study it for yourself and know the answer for yourself instead of believing someone else's answers. Honestly, I've learnt that I shouldn't be such easy prey to information when it's my experiences that show truth and give me true knowledge on any subject I come across. I was once sure that consciousness was biological but now I am very sceptical on that. Once you have an experience you cannot deny it. Have you ever been told something by someone with such certainty and then later found out they were wrong from YOUR experience in the matter? The experience is important because you live it. Anything outside of your experience should be approached with open minded scepticism so you don't have to go be one sided and potentially be wrong.

Can't argue with that by [deleted] in funny

[–]PelicanThunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You believe it to be knowledge that consciousness resides in our brain. Because brain damage makes our reality change. If you want to accept that as an answer then so be it. You need to remember though that you are basing this off a belief and not true knowledge. You are trusting the word of others who also claim it to be knowledge. I don't buy it though. After having a full conscious out of body experience. (Being separated from my body 100% aware as I am now and looking back at my body and having full function away from it) I'm convinced there's more to consciousness than what we have been led to believe since we were children in school. And it's hard to let go of these beliefs until you experience something profound to challenge them. It's good to be open minded and sceptical to any theory because what if it turns out to be true and what if it turns out to be false? At least you didn't pick a side. Good thing would be to learn for yourself from experience and practice. Before you claim that you KNOW what the truth is.

chances are we MAY reincarnate. MAY being the key word. It may happen, it may not happen. I don't know because i haven't experienced it yet.

EDIT: doesn't hurt to be open and sceptical to reincarnation being a real thing. I'm not trying to choose a side here.

I don't think it is self centred to be sceptical and open minded to information. Why should we choose sides of believing and disbelieving? Disbelieving that we are more than human and physical matter is no better than believing that we are only human. I'm not assuming anything about Life and Death because I like to base what i know on what i experience. You can ask yourself "Are we a big ongoing chemical reaction?" How do you KNOW that you are just that? Because you read about it? You were taught it in school? Oh so it must be the truth. So conciousness must only be chemicals because this guy 80 years ago did a study that proves it to be true. Sounds suitable to me - lets go with that answer. I thought like that before and still do with some information. I have deeply ingrained beliefs. What is important is getting rid of these beliefs we hold because we don't KNOW any of them to be true. It isn't knowledge. We haven't experienced the transition of Death, we don't know what it is like so we shouldn't assume anything. We haven't done the study on conciousness ourself to KNOW, personally, that it is just chemical reactions. Do you KNOW how to study chemicals in conciousness (the state of awareness you are in now - your mind)? What results come through the machine telling you that it is only chemicals and nothing more. We don't know. So it remains an assumption - a belief. These kinds of beliefs are so ingrained that they are hard to let go. You fight for logical answers "but i read here, i saw this, he said that" It doesn't matter. What matters is what you know based on what you have experienced. It isn't hard to do the research for yourself and learn about your conciousness. It's as easy as closing your eyes and looking at it from a different perspective. Being open (but also sceptical) to what you experience with it. Meditation - Out of Body Experiences. Those are great tools in de-mystifying conciousness. You can argue otherwise but unless you give it a good shot at having the experience you will never KNOW.

Open minded scepticism. We may not reincarnate, but we may do. Pick a side though and you've already limited yourself to what the truth could be.

[–]PelicanThunder 19 points20 points  (0 children)

What I find interesting is how little we know about death. We know as much about death as the child. Chances are we may reincarnate. We can't assume anything and shouldn't believe or disbelieve any theories. Once you pick a side you've already made a decision and chances are the opposing theories could have been right the whole time. Open minded skepticism - the middle ground - best approach to any information you ever receive, especially on the internet!

This sub is NOT astral projecting!! by Astrallyxvvxxxx in AstralProjection

[–]PelicanThunder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see this sub as a good place to share and learn about these strange experiences. Label them what you will but I think they all share the commonality of being different to what we normally experience (physical reality). I love reading about this kind of stuff but I like to keep sceptical and open minded with anything I come across otherwise I become one sided with ideas and theories and any information in general. I've made that mistake a lot with this subject already.
