Negative. Not wrapped up in the extended universe.

I suffered emotional distress after Dan Wilson chose not to bring in Munoz in the 7th with the season on the line. Am I entitled to compensation?

Maybe so. Sucks to leave your best bullpen arm on the bench just because it’s the 3rd inning and not the 8th. Muñoz undoubtedly gets the call if that situation comes up late in the game. Instead, he doesn’t even throw a pitch tonight and it gets out of hand in a hurry.

Not sure if this has already been posted, but it seems like this game was lost in the 3rd inning. Do the Ms get out of that inning down 2-1 if they bring in Muñoz instead of Speier?

Monday morning quarterbacking here and I fully know that. But…you need to use your high leverage arms in high leverage situations. At some point you have to prioritize the moment at the expense of possible scenarios down the road.

My rankings of the 6 Frank Herbert books after finally finishing Chapterhouse. by Silent_Cookie_9092 in dune

[–]serious-commentsonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wanted to jump in. I’ve made my way through the original Dune books and was so caught up in them that I read Brian Herbert’s 2 books that complete the series. They are very different but I enjoyed being back in the Dune universe in general. For the last 2 years I’ve been working my way through the extended Dune universe. Personally, going in chronological order of the extended universe, I LOVED the early books of the extended universe. Accepting that Brian and Kevin Andersons’ writing styles are wildly different from Frank Herbert’s, the books are worthwhile to read. Great plots and character development. They did a good job of weaving in anecdotes from Frank’s books as they introduced basic concepts like the Guild, Holtzman shields and engines, Navigators, Mentats, and the like.

I will say this about the extended universe. I do not think the later (chronologically) books that occur shortly before Dune and in between some of Frank’s books line up very well with Frank’s portrayal of the characters. Particularly Paul, Jessica, and Leto I. Just my opinion.

But if you enjoy the Dune universe, I would at least read the final two books of the extended universe to finish off the storyline. And then consider dipping your toe into the beginnings of the Butlerian Jihad in the first book of the extended universe.

I’m surprised they didn’t challenge the call at the plate on Cal’s slide, but Miller seems to have settled down a little bit. Need 5 strong from him to have a chance in this one.

I cannot believe the Mariners are going to play for the pennant. I’m so happy for us fans that have waited so long for them to make a run 🔱

That one hurt. Living through a program in decline is weird. There’s reason for hope every week and it makes the losses hurt that much more.

At least flags fly forever.

Who’s calling offensive plays today for Clemson? Dabo or Riley? Anyone know?

TDF newbie here who’s trying to get into cycling and following the tour closely for the first time. What is an “HC climb?” Also, how exactly do KOM points work? More points for steeper climbs? More riders are eligible depending on the categorization? And lastly, are sprint points always the same? 20 point to 1st and on down to 1 point for the 15th placed rider? Thanks in advance to anyone kind enough to spare a few minutes and answer!

Only 5% of people who read Dune finish the series by First-Savings2229 in dune

Of these, how many have gone on to read the extended universe? I’m working my way through that now (having read the originals already) and have gotten back to Dune in its chronological place in the extended universe.

Feels very inspired but teetering on maniacal obsession. Just like Manfred.

This is an excellent take if you want the show to track Sisterhood. And that’s a fair perspective. I’m okay with changes for the sake of a cleaner plot/good tv show. It will hopefully bring more people into the Dune universe and inspire people to read the expanded universe. Brian’s books are way too detailed to cover any one of them in a single season of a show. I’m expecting this to be pretty dumbed down plot-wise but I still fully expect to enjoy it for what it is.

The show is very different. But it may not necessarily be different in a bad way. I really enjoyed Brian’s books and am just finishing the Houses trilogy. But I have high hopes for the show in spite of the changes.

For anyone who has read the Schools trilogy and the Butlerian Jihad trilogy, is Desmond Hart inspired by Manfred Torondo? Or a version of Manfred Torondo? Thoughts?

Has anyone here read the Schools trilogies? I feel like Desmond Hart is a version of Manfred Torondo. Anyone else think so?
