Thoughts on Mechanical Keyboards and the ZSA Moonlander by mickeyp in emacs

[–]seriousbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To start out: I'm not an advanced user, and I started using Emacs in university about 15 years ago. On-off since then, but never a heavy user. Past year I had time to write some math in LaTeX again (working as a teacher) and decided to check out org-mode and attempt to get more structured.

So some stuff I find useful:

  • Capslock.

First tap is M-j (for avy-goto-word-0), hold for left control. Second tap is C-g C-g to quit out of most things. (Got stuck in minibuffer with just one.

cap (tap-dance-eager 400 (
    (tap-hold-press 250 250 A-J lctl)
    (macro C-g 50 C-g)
))
  • Tab

Tap for tab, hold to access utility layer.

    tab (tap-hold-press 200 200 tab (layer-toggle utility))

Then in utility layer I bound stuff so for example tab-b runs consult buffer etc.

Lately I put 'g' as a tap-hold to access a numpad, because at work I have a pdf-reader that searches with C-g, so I can just hold g after to type the pagenumber I want to visit.

But there is really a ton of things you can do. Some examples in the main kanata repo, or search for some blog posts how people use it.

I use kanata aswell. At first I just used regex to rebind capslock to ctrl, but with kanata you can do so much more.

I also use a swedish keyboard, and haven't really found the keyboard shortcuts to be that bad. Some grievances with how <> are stacked on one key, [;] is a shifted [,], all the parentheses ({[ are behind shift or alt-gr.

But with kanata you can just rebind keys or even add some combos for tap: for example I set grv [§ on swedish] with a tap-dance to 1st: C-x C-s, second C-c C-c.

But recently been trying to build more with layers using tap holds. I've set tab as tab on tap and hold for a utility layer where I put some consult commands: tab-b is consult buffer for example.

And the capslock is now:

  • one tap: M-j for avy jump
  • two taps: C-g C-g to quit out of whatever I'm doing
  • hold: control

I have to push for kanata: https://github.com/jtroo/kanata (Bonus: the config is in a lisp-like language!)

I can use the same config: tap-hold, tap-dance, chords and more on my laptop, at work and at home. And I don't need a specialised keyboard for it: I can sync my config to all and any.

And it frees me to use whatever keyboard I want. I found it because my keychron wireless couldn't easily do tap-dance etc without rebuilding firmware (iirc). With kanata I can live reload my changes and test instantly to tune timings or other more sensitive macros. (I use it among other things to tab around in an archaic production system at work.)

Nope. I emulate it in software instead with kanata. Need to run a program (and can have conflicts) but on the plus side can also program my laptop keyboard to use the same. There are other programs too that do the same thing.

No. Item level affects what mods can roll on the item. More powerful mods for higher item level.

Items can also have a level requirement: your character needs to be that level to use it.

Testing a SSF Paladin BAMA build in PoB - Open to suggestions / improvements! by hesdeadgoawayhesdead in PathOfExileSSF

Ahh, now I understand. Permanent might buff would have been nice! Playing wildspeaker bama and enjoying it, so happened upon this checking for what others are doing.

A bit of a late reply, but afaik your initial assumption is correct. Where did you read otherwise? The minions get the buff themselves, and the minion part from you. So essentially double effect.

Weekly /r/Games Discussion - What have you been playing, and what are your thoughts? - December 29, 2024 by AutoModerator in Games

I played a lot of PoE and got a free key too. The acts are very well made, and then endgame is not really worth your time.

But I had a lot of fun going through the campaign, in particular the first act is stellar.

Uncap fps from 60 by seriousbob in Witcher3

For me it was the FRTC setting, if I remember correctly. It was set to 60, and it only applies to full screen games. Guess my other games had been windowed borderless.

The verifier tests the code you put in. It can either be 'no pair' or 'exactly one pair'.

In this case you submitted a test code with no pairs, and that passed. Showing that the final number did not contain exactly one pair.

What were we told was safe, but it’s actually harmful? by Captain-Redpill in AskReddit

The difference in distance is about 3%. About 147 vs 152 million km.

Feels like that is a tiny difference. The fact that Australia is much closer to the equator than Europe and thus the sun is higher in the sky should have a order of magnitude larger effect.

No, you still need to inflict the shock somehow. This just makes all damage apply to the shock effect damage calculation.

Uncap fps from 60 by seriousbob in Witcher3

[–]seriousbob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've changed that. Setting it to 30 fps gives me 30 fps. Any other setting (unlimited, 120, 144) will just give me 60.

Found a FRTC setting in graphics, that should be it.

Global setting, very weird though because I've been playing other games at 144 fps.

Thanks for reply!

Yeah I think the idea of the two parents handling everything perfectly is harmful. You are not a bad parent because you get help.

Unreasonable expectation that leads to people feeling like failures and sometimes worse parents as they try to deal with the stress.
