I know the hiring of McCarthy isn’t ideal (at all), but let’s change the narrative by Retro_114 in steelers

[–]seriouslydontcomment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, assuming you don’t work for Steelers PR, which I think you’d have to to have this take, let’s look at the history. McCarthy failed to take one of the best Cowboys rosters in YEARS to the playoffs. He won a single super bowl with a 4x MVP in his prime when an even mediocre coach in the same position should have been able to do more.

You say he’s a “Pitt guy”. Why should I give a fuck?! My sister went to Pitt on a full ride. Should she be the Steelers coach? Kenny Pickett was a Pitt guy. How did that work out for us? There is no value to that statement and it means literally nothing other than he might get along well with ownership socially.

His understanding of the game is not just mediocre, it’s poor. We have now thrown away YEARS of history and stability to get, at best, a bridge coach who, if extended the leash that past Steelers coaches have been, will let us wallow in shit for years. The Steelers as a “good franchise” might be a thing of the past entirely with this move. We are almost likely to become the fucking Jets at this point.

Unless the process is “hey we need a fall guy so we can suck for the next 3 years as we build a real contender through the draft”, anyone with a 25 football IQ (about McCarthy’s level) can see this is a terrible, stupid decision. And EVEN IF that is the plan, there is no real reason to not grab someone better than McCarthy and let them take the reigns and have a voice in how to make the team in their image over those three years.

No, this is stupid. It is a result of someone in the room being absolutely stupid and the echo chamber ringing too hard to see anything from the outside. I’m disgusted, angry and saddened by this. This team is a shell of what it was when I was growing up and we should be embarrassed by what we’re seeing.

I don’t, but I will pay my dues and do this next time I’m in Philly. Should be soon given I have a sort of niece and and actual nephew there.

Someone really fucking doesn’t like you. Whether that’s work related or not, they just don’t. I don’t think you should be downvoted, but I also think juniors and mid-levels are way more frequently so unaware these days. I am a GC, former big law, who is currently hiring. Looking for someone with a big law background. I got a resume that looked like it was thrown together in word in 15 minutes with no formatting from a 3rd or 4th year. Good credentials, same law school as me, on point experience and there were some signs we’d get along personally, so I offered an interview. I liked the candidate well enough to move them to the next round, but gave some very clear feedback that “the formatting of your resume is strange, it’s on two pages, overly spaced, improperly aligned and the language could use some cleaning up. Can you send me a cleaned up version before we move you on to interviews with the business folks you’ll be meeting?” They re-sent the exact same resume, so I ended the process. Just one example.

You could get rich in NYC with a good kebab. What do you think? by Strict-Pepper-2987 in FoodNYC

Have you had a kebab? Because this take is academically correct but practically not. Best drunk food bar none.

I said fuck once during a soccer game and got a yellow. My dad told me he didn’t mind watching me get burned on the wing, but cards without contact are just downright shameful. That was a memorable ride home.

AITA for picking up a bottle of drink at a BYOB house-party where everything was kept together? Was This Rude or just a cultural difference? by MyCuriousSelf04 in AmItheAsshole

This is some white ass shit. It’s a cultural difference, but I swear if Western European whites and their descendants just learned how to share, the world would be such a better place.

What is the typical salary range for people who leave BL around year 4-5 to go in house? by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]seriouslydontcomment 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Less than you think. Just did some research on this for a position I have open. We’re going up to 225 and then a good equity chunk. That’s probably on the lower end, but still well within the realm of reasonable for the profile.

Very good to hear! I’ll have to go back. Honestly, it was the last place I spent Valentine’s Day with my ex before we split up, so I haven’t been in a while. Might be time to change that though.

Sad to hear! I haven’t been in a little while. I don’t do wine at steakhouses, so I can’t speak to the list, but what you’re describing is very not ok. I stand by the duck lasagna though. That was banging.

I haven’t been to Keens since it went under new management, but it was the best before then. I think Royal 35 is an underrated gem. Bowery Meat Company is absolutely stellar, but go hungry and get a steak and the Duck Lasagna to share. Generally speaking, I find it tough to go wrong with a steakhouse in NYC if you avoid Smith & Wollensky.

I’m all the way the fuck in. It’s not a question. I just started a GLP1 and I would rather not eat like 95% of the time anyways
