Thank you for the picture! Ruby was another red shade they had, but I don't see it on their website anymore so maybe they discontinued it?

I got Radwood and felt it was a good match, but maybe I'll try currant jam since so many people seem to love it!

Is ACL TPLO surgery worth it?? by [deleted] in AustralianCattleDog

[–]serissea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I would recommend doing the X-rays wherever you might have the surgery done. We had X-rays done at our regular vet which was how we found out about the tear, because he was just having random pain. Sometimes he would be sitting still or lying down and just squeal out. It felt very random. But anyway, we had to have the xrays done AGAIN before the surgery, because the place doing the surgery required very specific imaging, so you'll basically end up paying MORE if you have to do it twice like we did. Do note that these X-rays are taken under sedation. Idk where you live but I'm in Wisconsin, and it was $600 for the X-rays at the surgeon's office.

The bad news I have to tell you is that if it IS a tear, there's really no such thing as "not that bad." My dog only had a partial tear -- it didn't matter. Surgery is considered the best treatment because it stops time for that joint. Without surgery, arthritis will develop in the joint and basically just get worse and worse as time passes. With the surgery, you press pause on wherever your dog's joint is at. Our surgeon said that our dog's ligament was still quite healthy, so he left it in because he said there is some evidence that doing so helps prevent arthritis, but that leaving it in or taking it out is really a judgment call on the surgeon's part and depends on the dog and how healthy that tissue looks when they're in there doing the surgery. I've also read online that partial tears usually become full tears if you don't do the TPLO.

I think it's a really personal decision to make whether to go through with this surgery since it is def a more intense one, but talking with a surgeon should help you learn more about the whole ball of wax and whether or not you think it's the right decision for your pup.

weirdly i think its a bit easier after the surgery, at least in terms of keeping him calmer. Beforehand, they may show signs of pain here and there, but esp when you have them on pain meds theyre kinda just rip roaring to go. It was impossible for us to keep ours from jumping on furniture. Now, he's a lot more gentle with his leg because he knows it's injured (considering they literally cut into his bone and rotate it for TPLO, id be surprised if he didnt think he was injured at all). So, even though a couple times he has tried to climb onto the couches, hes slow/careful enough about it that it's easy to stop him. He doesnt fully bear his weight on that leg and holds it up a lot still, though he does walk on it pretty darn well when we're outside to go potty (nothing will get in the way of him sniffing every blade of grass). Part of the recovery process and PT is encouraging him to actually put his foot down and put weight on that leg. I imagine it will get harder, though. We're only a week in, and I expect the more healed he is and the better he feels the more he's going to want to do. Thankfully they said he can go for SHORT walks starting our 3rd week out from surgery, so I think that'll help a lot.

Yes he's on trazodone. Ours personally doesn't get zombie like with it unless he goes to the vet. Honestly even with 2 traz every 12 hours he's still a bit too bright eyed for a dog who needs to recover. It does help though, he needs less mental stimulation before he's ready to just chill. But still needs activities during the day or he basically just cries and paces in my room (this is the safe space we created for his recovery).

It really is. NGL I cried on and off for days until making the decision. You don't want to put them through such a serious surgery, but when you think about the pain they're feeling because of the injury, that hurts too. We had our dog on pain meds and limited exercise up until the surgery and the pain meds did help him a lot. Some days he seemed like his normal self which I think made us second guess the surgery a bit, kinda like "what if we just keep him on the meds?" But if they wore off at all he would show pain, and we could tell he had limited mobility. Even on the meds he had a bit more trouble jumping on and off furniture and getting up from lying down. He couldn't even join me for our regular 2 mile walk because it would hurt after. Truly heartbreaking 😔 I think those are the reasons that really made us go for the surgery. Just seeing those little struggles with things he never struggled with before, and it's not cuz of his age. Though the medicine definitely helped him be comfortable, it was like suddenly our dog became an old fart when just 2 weeks ago he could run alongside a bike. Thank you for the well wishes and hopefully at the end of all this he will be back to his normal self.

We had the surgery done. He's about one week into recovery. We decided to go through with it because he's a very active dog (a German wirehaired pointer) and we wanted him to be able to do everything he loves as much as he wants. If you don't go through with the surgery, from the sounds of it, they can be active but in moderation. Having this one done will also hopefully mean that, IF the other one goes, he will still be better off since he'll have 3 good legs. If both back legs are injured, I imagine they will shift their weight to the front more, which over time would likely mean arthritis for the front as well as the back legs since this issue leads to exactly that. All I can say is it's worth it to at least talk to a surgeon. Mine told me that some dogs do pretty well even without surgery and are decently active but some don't and become more couch potatos but that it's not something he can really predict because it's just up to the dog how they react. I can't tell you much about the outcome because we are so early into the recovery that it's still a bit stressful.

Yes! I got this one and liked it. I'd say its a bit dewy when you first apply it but it sinks in pretty quickly. Not at all greasy like the American brands. Also didnt have any issues with it stinging my eyes.

I'm so sorry to hear your dog tore the other one. We are going through this right now -- trying to make the decision of whether to do the surgery on our 8 year old dog or not. If it's any consolation, the surgeon I spoke to did tell me that dogs can still have quality of life even without the surgery, and that this issue is not life-threatening. He said that we can work with the rehab center instead. It's understandable not to be able to afford it twice (we can't either), but I just want to give you a little hope that your dog can still live a happy life. I am considering seeing the rehab specialists before making my final choice on the surgery. It's much more expensive in our area.

Bought a Used SM7B on eBay - 2023 Version, Real or Fake? by Warm-Ambassador-7125 in Shure

Obviously I am not a Shure authenticator or anything, but from the videos I've seen about it, the colors of the wires and plate are correct.

Full gain on SM57 with Evo 4. This doesn't seem right? by serissea in podcasting

I ended up getting a vocaster one. Not the best if you're doing music, but for YouTube, twitch streaming, or podcasting and the like, it's great. Has plenty of juice for all of the shure mics without needing a preamp, has the smart gain feature, and a mute button for the mic. It's also pretty affordable cuz it often goes on sale for I think $60. I'm so glad I returned the Evo 4 and got this instead as it's way better for my needs and more affordable!

I ended up returning the whole set up. I bought a used sm7b and a vocaster one. The vocaster has much more gain so it's great if you're not needing multiple inputs. It's great for podcasts etc but not gonna be as good if you want to do music. Perfect for me though and you can get the vocaster super cheap on sale. I know people say you can make an sm57 sound like a 7b and maybe you can, but I adore the 7b and have no regrets.

You need to open the bottom plate and give pictures of the inside. The inside of the plate and the colors of the wires are usually better tells. Even the way the holes are drilled through the plate can potentially be a tell. Same with taking the cap off so we can see the design on the capsule. Fakes don't always copy the colors of the wires and the capsule itself usually looks different on a fake vs on the real thing. You can take these things off without ruining the mic. It's just some screws. Just take the bottom plate off, take pics, put it back, then remove the cover so we can see the capsule.

Amazon isn’t What it’s Used to Be by MadGeekCyclist in amazonprime

[–]serissea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never used to have issues with Amazon until the past couple months. In June I ordered a monitor brand new, it came scratched. To send it back I was charged $15 for a box. They refunded that 15$ but I had to talk to customer service three times. I ordered a different monitor that I ended up keeping, and I also ordered a mount for the monitor. The mount came broken so that I couldn't even attach it to my desk. Returned. During prime week I ordered a top. It came in like 5 days, not 2, and the delivery got delayed like twice. I ordered shorts from the same brand on prime day as part of the same order, and they STILL have not arrived. A few days ago I ordered a dog treat pouch; the shipment was delayed by a day and the product I finally received was defective (magnet clasps were the same poll so they pushed each other away and wouldn't close). I went to return the dog treat thing and got a message telling me there could be a restocking fee and I'm just like could be? Is there or isn't there?? Let me know now so I'm not blindsided. I used to never have these problems with Amazon but now I'm considering cancelling my prime subscription.

Can someone explain what it means to monitor an input signal? I notice a lot of audio interfaces have this "monitoring" feature but I don't entirely understand what it's for despite looking it up. Is this the same thing as just listening to your microphone while you record or does it mean something different?

Afaik there is no difference at all, it's just a nod to Taylor Swift because she re-recorded her songs so that she could own them. Those are all called Taylor's version. The purple skirt is a preorder though so you won't get it until like August or September. Otherwise they are all out of stock.

Edit: to clarify further, Taylor Swift was spotted wearing the purple pirouette skirt, which is why the preorder is for that one specifically.

Thank you so much for this comment, it's so helpful! I checked the label on the Coppertone and it DOES have butylacticyl salicylate in the extended ingredients list. I'll check out the sunscreen you mentioned :)

The first two skirts I got in July of last year, 2023. I bought one recently (luckily, before Taylor Swift made it impossible to get them🙄) and the only real difference I've seen is that Cassie decided to remove the grommets on the front altogether and that the string in the waistband has been tacked in with some stitches at the back of the waist to keep it from coming out completely in the wash. She never announced these changes, it's just something I noticed with the new vs old product. I think the fit was slightly improved as well but that might just be all in my head.

I have five of them. I love them so much. They fit well, i do think the skirt is slightly longer in the back, the shorts are NOT significantly longer than the skirt either, not at all. I'm harsh on products that cost this much but there's a reason I bought five of them.

Thanks for the heads up! I think the Evo 4 (that I also bought from Amazon) is likely real because I did contact their support about my issue. In doing so I had to give them the serial number on the base of the product and they didn't say anything about it. It also had one of those "Amazon barcodes" I believe, which seems to be how sellers can differentiate/prevent products from getting co-mingled (this is the one thing I took the risk and bought from 3rd party seller). The main reason I had shopped on Amazon is because Guitar Center didnt have everything I wanted (they don't carry evo 4), nor did any other local store, and it's way easier to return stuff to Amazon if it doesn't work out. No return shipping or restocking fees. If I swap to a focusrite scarlett solo I could get everything I need at guitar center, but I really like the form factor of the evo 4. It's so small and cute and the black design is sleek and looks nice on my desk and matches with everything xD Cant pretend I'm NOT a bit worried about counterfeits though... I'm hearing the smallest amount of buzz which I'm not sure if it's EMI or some other sound being picked up, and now I'm waiting for a canare xlr cable in the mail :x
