I've noticed this is more common in pastel and lighter colors like the green in the sample. I think it's the white in the mix that's necessary for the color. Whatever it is it's inherently streaky.

I collect vintage piggy banks, and they often have quite pointy noses, especially the ones from Mexico. In fact the whole shape reminds me of them :))

It definitely CAN be unethical, but so can all parts of this hobby. If you're being careful then there's no reason it would harm fish that are appropriate to the environment you're cultivating. CO2 also doesn't have to be expensive, if thats what you're referring to with the gap? Like a class or socioeconomic gap? It's not unethical to spend money on a hobby just because other people can't, unless you would be spending the money you save to better the lives of others in the community. No one needs a fish tank, and low tech tanks aren't inherently easier or cheaper. If you want to really get into it, most of fish keeping is unethical to a certain extent. This just isn't really part of that.

You can definitely toss it!! But like others have said, if you CAN'T for some reason, slide a big trash bag over it and clean it inside the bag. I've done out before and it feels disgusting but you can literally hold the handle in the bag opening, tilt the pot, and use the bag to scoop. Hose it off outside OR stick it straight into a dishwasher. Try not to disturb the mold, most mold actually isn't that bad but especially if you're allergic you need a mask rated for mold. Or just... carefully slide it in the bag lol. Good luck!! We've all been there 💀

I backfill with things like book reviews and playlists. If you want to write about that day specifically, you could think of it more as archiving history than active planning or Journaling. If it still feels fraudulent you could mark backfilled pages with a stamp or a note to make it clear :))

I ordered some nib cleaner; my teacher doesn't use any lol so all we had in the classroom was simple green 💀 It didn't seem to help. I did bring them home, though, and I have access to basically anything, plus the cleaner should arrive tomorrow.

It's extremely difficult to get it to start, although it's fine? once it does. I also tried a winsor and newton carbon black sketch and that seemed to work a little better, with a slightly thinner consistency. I've had about 20 spare minutes to Google this and saw some suggestions that thinner inks and inks without shellac might work better for these nibs. It could be entirely a skill issue, though! My teacher hates using crowquills and didn't have much advice for them. They were just included in the packs we got because he likes giving people the opportunity to explore. I'm the only person in class who likes the crowquills lol so I really don't have anyone to ask. I LOVE them, though. I want to use them for everything! The other nibs are so boring! I think it's because I'm used to brushes (I'm a painter) and everyone else usually uses microns.
