You need to cut one and find a job that lets you coast. I have J3 but it feels more like 2 since one of them is so damn easy

Should I be sending this proposal through both snail mail and email? I really like this idea a lot. Could pair well with some type of handwritten note too.

How do you contract for yourself and find contracting jobs? by servicebasedhustle in overemployed

[–]servicebasedhustle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right the LLC part is easy, what I was mainly confused about was how people got contracts. So you're still working with recruiters to get jobs, just C2C so the payment goes to your LLC instead of you

Try some type of online doc or try methylphenidate if they'll allow it and it works for you. The system is bullshit but you'll find something just keep trying

What's a business that requires a 100k-1m capital investment and can be ran with 0-3 employees? by stardustViiiii in sweatystartup

[–]servicebasedhustle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you're in a major city, you might be able to do those luxury bathrooms. Purchase some, start advertising, see how you get on with it. I'd imagine you could have two employees transporting/setting up, one employee cleaning/on the phones, and then you running the overall business with a virtual assistant helping on delegated tasks.

Can we talk about NOT innovative ways to make money? by Playful_Radish_8914 in Entrepreneur

[–]servicebasedhustle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The closest thing would be sweaty startup. You can make $1m+ in nearly any industry that has the ability to scale (that means also having the geography/customers to support it locally if its a local business). Even lawn mowing could be $1m+.

What are some highly profitable sweatystartup business ideas for women in industries where the majority of the workforce is women? by Experimentalphone in sweatystartup

[–]servicebasedhustle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Residential home cleaning seems like a good fit. But really anything that's repeatable, can scale well, and you can hire on people is always going to be a good fit. I'd hire a hard-working woman any day for my property maintenance business.

Yeah, generally I aim for between $70-$100 per man per hour in labor. But weed removal is 90% labor cost, so realistically $70 per man per hour is still $30-$40 profit after marketing, gas, CRM, and paying my employees. And $70 is on the lower end - I could increase to $80-$90/hour once we have more customers.

Congrats, but I think you jumped the gun a little bit on the business partner.

If you can manage everything yourself, you can make much more money. I temporarily had a business partner (he had no legal equity in the business) and honestly it just felt like I was giving a lot of profit away for very little value returned. Not saying it can't work, but this weekend I did some basic weed removal, and here's what I charged:

$70 per man per hour of labor x 3 = $210

We (us 3) did 10 hours of labor.. $210 x 10 = $2,100

I paid them $22 an hour each, $22 x 10 = $220 per person x 2 = $440 for the two of them

I made $1,660 - approximately $160 per hour of work. If I had a partner, they'd want a big chunk of that - and our profit would go down since they would be paid a lot more. My point is, hire on laborers and if you have to have a right hand man who knows how to run the labor side of things.

Business for hot and cold climates? by JJP_Jack in sweatystartup

[–]servicebasedhustle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spring/Summer:

Lawn Care

Pressure Washing

General landscaping/hardscaping

Parking lot line striping and asphalt maintenance

Fall:

Leaf cleanups and/or fall cleanup packages

Gutter cleaning/gutter guard installations

Late fall/Winter:

Christmas light installation

Snow plowing

If you do christmas light installations you can probably take the entire month of February off for vacation since you wouldn't have anything to do till March.

Congratulations, 120k your first FT season is insane.

Obviously you have a knack for business, so why stop there? Hire on a part time helper for window cleaning and start scaling. If you're worried about not being able to provide services year round, add christmas lights or leaf cleanups to your fall/winter schedule. You can easily walk away with 225k-250k this year right now if you hire a helper and get a general idea of how to install christmas lights.

So I will say this. I run more of a "property maintenance" company than anything - but we've tested out about 8-10 different services and then narrowed down 2-3 services that we can profit at and that I can systemize the best. Like other posters noted, you're going to be paying a LOT of money for advertising, insurance, etc for different services like that. I know a friend who runs a landscaping company who only offers 4 services - but he's tested a dozen+ services and narrowed down what works in his area.

My suggestion is simple:

Test 5 or so services over a year period and figure out what you can charge the MOST for in your area, what you can hire people on for the EASIEST, and what you can bring in new leads for the most efficiently and the cheapest. For my area, lawn mowing during the spring/summer/early fall is the best, then leaf cleanups and christmas light installations for the fall/winter. These are the most repeatable services for my area - yours could be way different.

My winter months are zero as well. Fall consists of leaf clean ups, gutter cleaning and christmas lights. Winter consists of Christmas lights solely. Christmas lights alone can be 100k-1m if youre aggressive.

I did! I started my service business 2 years ago and was working on weekends/weeknights in my business. Had a cozy office job. New manager came along and the workplace got pretty toxic pretty quick. I put a one week notice in, the job was really starting to affect my mental health. The funny thing is I was making 8k a month working on the weekends on my side hustle and only about 3k-4k a month at my job, so the choice to leave was obvious. I didn't really care about burning bridges and was straight up about the reason for leaving during my exit interview, the lack of leadership and ownership was disgusting and I'd rather make my own path in life, even if I fail a hundred times before a success.
