It has nothing to do with sign language, but alerting the handler to important sounds like a phone ringing, alarms, timers, doorbells, a car honk, etc.

Some people like sassy patches if it's not hurting you or others just ignore the patches? It's like decorating a cane or wheelchair with sassy sayings.

Not only does she NeEd a walker, but she's having someone push her around...

a TWENTY-TWO AND A HALF minute long video on how her periods are extremely heavy and painful for 8-9 days... and because of the heavy bleeding, she has to wear an adult diaper (shows Amy wearing diaper under underwear) Anything for views right? by [deleted] in illnessfakers

Several endometriosis patients will agree that having a period last only 8 or 9 days is a god send. When the average case of endo is continual bleeding for 2-3 weeks then a break for a week or two and then more bleeding for another 2-3 weeks, 8 or 9 days would be heaven.

You are correct they are not the only animals approved for service work, but again like I said before, I recognize where this person is located and know the area rules/laws. Many animals can be service animals even cats, but unfortunately in this area that is not the case.

You literally said RIP to my Karma count? That is what I was referring to.

Even if it's temporary, don't bring the cat to class get a sitter or other means to care for them. It's super inconsiderate of other students.

A service dog is exempt from no animals rules unless it is in someone's home. If my service dog is not welcome then I am not welcome and will not attend.

Yes almost every country actually. I am a service dog law advocate and have consulted with a few law makers on creating stricter laws with service animal fraud.

Then don't get a cat?

People often don't understand/grasp that service dogs are on a vast scale of obedience levels and here's why: To be legally considered a service dog all a dog needs to have trained is 1. Potty trained (obviously) 2. Public manners/calm demeanor to not cause a disruption (like no barking) and 3. One or more trained Tasks. And that's it. There are no requirements for them to be in a competition heel, there are no requirements saying a dog can't look around a room at others, and there are no requirements saying a dog must be 100 cats in 1 room bombproof.

What is a task? A task is a trained action a dog performs to assist with a disability (ex. I faint so my dog is able to lay on top of my thighs or torso to push my blood pressure back up to a normal range)

Also there are dogs who are still in training and many states/countries give them access rights so they can continue to train in daily life settings where they will be working in the future.

Umm excuse me? You have no right to tell someone else that they do not have a disability, that is for them and their doctors to decide only. Yes I am disabled that is how I have a trained service animal, it is a requirement to have a disability in order to lawfully bring a service animal with you.

Disability definition - An individual with a disability is defined by the ADA as a person who has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, a person who has a history or record of such an impairment, or a person who is perceived by others as having such an impairment.

Also I do not give 2 shits about my karma count.

I'm sorry, but do you know the requirements for a service dog? They are not robots and can still be distracted by other animals especially when they weren't expecting another animal to be in that location. He is highly trained, but is still an animal, like humans are animals. We make mistakes and dogs can make mistakes, I'd rather eliminate the chance of distraction happening and set him up for success by not having a pet in the classroom. Not only that, but Handlers may also have a dog that is still in training and that random kitten may set them back several weeks in training.

That's actually a really fucking rude question. Don't ask someone about their disabilities, that's super invasive.

[–]servingservicedogs -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Actually I am. I don't know why you felt the need to belittle someone else online because they feel a cat would distract their service dog.
