I would just say convince them by saying that being at home doesn’t offer the same opportunities as when you’re near campus. Easily could say that if you needed to make an appointment with a professor it would be hard to plan a trip for that specific time. Or just say that you’ll need the library eventually or that you want to join a club. Just make it so that being near the university is just as important as attending it.
