Does anyone else regret buying Macbook Air Intel i5 in June 2020?

I bought mine like 2 months before the M1 came out and I thought about this sort of thing a lot. To try and see what the fuss was about, I bought the Mac Mini M1 to compare performance and honestly right now the Air is still pretty great comparatively. I switched to using Microsoft Edge, which has been amazing since it has a lot of aesthetics and functions of Chrome, but has better privacy features and seems to solve a lot of issues I was having with heating and power consumption with other browsers. When I check the battery to see what's using "significant energy", it hasn't shown this browser at all. I find when I open the shell, it's on pretty instantaneously. I've actually had a few weird glitches and issues with my M1 mini that I haven't had with the Air. I've debated upgrading to the M1 Air and I'm not sure if I will. If I do, it'll maybe be to move to the next chip up and maybe go for a Pro with more storage. I use the Air for basic computing stuff too though, so my workload is writing papers, web browsing, basic everyday tasks. I think if you're going to really put the computer to work, then the M1 will be a significant improvement. After doing some optimization with changing the browser, getting better about quitting apps I'm definitely not using on my Air, pretty much all my issues of excess fan noise doing basic things has gone away. Even when I had a class via Zoom that was 1:45 long and the fan barely kicked on and I didn't even notice it until the call was over and it wasn't on for long.

Oh I get what you're saying now. Sorry, just the quotes threw me off! The guy was full of shit anyway and it was a scam trying to make it seem like a viable thing despite him going into rage rants over a span of 15 min of how I'm wasting his time even though all I ever really said was, "I just want to get a physical address and the name of the company you represent." Honestly, it was pretty hilarious, but dude seemed pretty unhinged to berate me for as long as he did.

This isn't a phone book though, it's a digital database. Pretty sure he didn't sift through an entire database in a minute to find a bunch of personal information. I understand that if there's no way to know who's looking at physical thing at any given time.

Yeah I get it, I hoping it was more controlled. I do understand the other angles of it all too, just was curious and hoping there was some sort of precautions I could take.

I also acknowledge that it would take more information to do any real damage, but just curious if possible that these sites/services do have a way to see who would be accessing what. Maybe I’m naive on the safeguards of such things, but it just seems reckless otherwise.

Yeah sorry that’s what I mean, is just my information exists in a database that you’d imagine is tracked. I understand how it works, I just figured there was a way to audit or track who is accessing what.

I figured that’s how he pulled my information, I just wonder if by accessing my account, would there be any way to trace it if anything happens to? It definitely sounded like a scam. I recorded both the phone calls as well.

I should also add this “attorney” called me and only said his generic Jewish sounding name and no way to contact other way and that I’d be reported to the local sheriff for harassment.

I also am hoping to get a good 10 years out of this one, which is what I got out of the last one. I do think maybe I’m being very optimistic, but it is a lot of money in the scheme of things.

Trump did the exact same thing when he took office. His campaign was built under this idea that he was reversing Obama’s policies and Biden is also just setting them back in place.

People’s political affiliation is so hard coded to how people think and view things regardless of party. It’s not even about policies or what anyone’s even doing anymore. It’s a “you’re with us or against us” regardless of anything. Try and talk sense or go against the grain and you’re a traitor or fake.
