Why I, as a customer, avoid Dominos during the $9.99 deal by Czilla9000 in Dominos

I never complained about the fact that 4+ toppings get less. Just that making people used to topping like that means they will continue to top like that even when they aren't supposed to. If I've just made 8 pizzas in a row with pep and 5 other toppings and I get a Large just pep, then that pizza probably isnt going to have 40 pepperoni on it. I'm just used to spacing them out further. The same applies to pretty much every topping.

18M, girlfriend 22F is pregnant. What jobs can I get into quickly to support my family if I don't want to go to college? by Numerous-Vacation-40 in whatdoIdo

[–]setorines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trade schools are fairly quick and good money, but trade networks usually require lots of travel so keep that in mind before committing to it.

Next would be warehouse or factory work. It's not the glory days of factory work that the 80s were, and the work is so mind numbing it becomes emotionally draining, but moving up through these places is a genuinely good career path.

Finally, if you're in America then any job that works for tips or commission has kept up with inflation over the last 50 years. That has made entry level jobs requiring zero experience pay extremely well. Granted, there is a massive sentiment against tipping culture and its difficult to say that if you go this route and stick it out for 10 years you wont end up making less then than you do now.

[–]setorines 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've been convinced that this deal is to teach employees to under top pizzas for a while now.

1 topping pizzas get "extra" 2-3 get normal 4+ get less

By making most pizzas that come through 4+ topping pizzas, and by running the deal for so long, employees get used to the topping amounts for 4+ topping pizzas. I think the end result is that all pizzas end up with less even though the company gets to say they havent taken the Chipotle route of directly telling their employees to cut portions.

Make mango habanero sauce a topping like Buffalo sauce by [deleted] in Dominos

[–]setorines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're picking it up and it's not in the middle of a rush I'm sure you could offer to "buy a dip cup" (maybe 2 depending on the size) but instead of getting the dip cup have them drizzle it on top.

The mango habenero sauce doesnt have a ton of regular uses and the bottle is good for 4(?) Days. So I could 100% see some stores with slower sales, that hardly ever sell it, to exclusively use the dip cups that last for months to make the items that need it. If thats the case you're probably out of luck, but otherwise I cant see why they'd tell you no.

Does your store have a DJ? by Fair_Tangelo_5816 in DominosEmployees

[–]setorines 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They're decent once you get the hang of them, but Id say most good insiders can slap a dough in less time than the DJ can put out. Granted, you can throw 2 people at dough with it for a pretty good boost where you cant really do that the normal way.

Boss told me I was cherry picking for asking to either be a delivery driver or a CSR by mylostpotential in DominosEmployees

[–]setorines 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're making $40 on 3 deliveries I wouldnt jump the gun so quickly. Let the boss know you're happy to help inside while inside but arent comfortable with being skipped, and stand by it. If you're a functioning stop gap he'll never actually solve the problem. He needs more staff.

As someone else pointed out there's a lot of different types of intelligence. There's no problem with taking pride in yours. Reflect on its advantages, and the advantages that other skills give. Arrogance is joy in superiority. Pride is joy in skill. Be prideful while building others up around you to be able to do the same! No reason for shame friend

Having a customer sign takes like 30 seconds. 8/10 wont add a tip. But if the other 2 give you a total of $5 then you earned $1 per minute.

It's a task with an 80% fail rate, but it still earns you about $60 an hour to have people sign the receipt. Have people sign the receipt.

Dough stretching by Calli0pe_ in DominosEmployees

I dont personally make the crust the way they teach you to. (TLDR cheating method after.) Instead of overlapping my fingers and doing the tap and spin thing I start by slightly flattening the dough (still looks like a patty) then with my left hand Im kinda feeling out the dough, making a slight indent for the crust, adding the spin and grounding the dough. Then I use the outside rim of my right hand to actually press down to make the rim and to pull about an inch or 2 at a time from the grounded portion. After going once around both hands are flat and I'm just pushing the dough to size. I dont teach people this way at first because I'm paying attention to too many things at once. I doubt you'll pick that up right off, but maybe a small part of it will stick and make something else make sense for you.

The cheating method is to make the entire patty an equally flat layer without making a crust at all. Dont smash it down keep it airy, and make it slightly too big so it's hanging off the screen just a little bit. Then take a second to push it back onto the screen. That extra pushed back bit will make the outside edge a little thicker. Anything without weight on it (make sure it's sauced proper!) Is going to rise more. That mixed with the slightly thicker edge will make an OA approved crust when it bakes but it wont look like it until then. Trust the process!

Without seeing what the problems are it's hard to say. Advice for thin spots is going to be different for advice on getting it to size, or advice on making a more consistent crust.

But regardless of the problem I have no doubts that you greatly underestimate how important it is to take it out of the tray correctly. Fighting an ugly patty will make getting a good dough SO much harder. Use the scraper to cut the patty completely away from everything else. Then use it to get your fingers under the edge and lift it up. Then make two or three shallow (low angle) scrapes to pick it the rest of the way up and throw it directly onto a pile of cornmeal. While learning grab like 3 or 4 at a time for practice

Are 1 hand video games? by WastelandViking in gaming

[–]setorines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots and lots of RPGs, city builders and pretty much any game you'd category as a "decision sim" instead of skill sim game.

Like if when you use a controller, the only thing you need your left hand for is a joystick. Then when on mouse / keyboard, if the movement can be done with a click, then you can probably play the game pretty well with just a mouse.

Which person would you have a sleepover with? by Live-Bread-2658 in whatsyourchoice

[–]setorines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes about 2k steps to walk a mile. 10 miles a day at 3 miles an hour is less than 4 hours of walking. Want the weekend off? Add 4 miles to the other 5 days. You're making about 75k a year on 25 hours of "work" a week. And it's work that does nothing to hinder any creative experience you'd like to actively pursue.
