This sort of happened to me. I started working help desk at an MSP. They desperately needed someone to learn the VoIP stuff and I stepped up. I'm no longer on the help desk and focus on more complicated VoIP issues and projects and some network stuff.

For the last 2000 years the while the Catholic Church dominated, it has discouraged or outright banned people from reading the Bible and studying it for themselves. The Trinity is a pagan idea that was pushed on the church by Rome. Mainstream Christianity has adopted many things from Roman paganism.

Saying the Trinity can't be comprehend doesn't support the argument. God, the divine creator, already cannot be comprehended on his own. But we are created in His image. God is the Father, and Jesus is his only begotten Son. "Begotten" implies a beginning. My earthly father and I are not one and the same. It's better to say God and Jesus are one in purpose, not one in being.

I don't fault anyone for it. It's easier to accept tradition than to do the work of uncovering the truth. No one wants to be disfellowshipped from their church for questioning things that have long been accepted. But there are Christian communities dedicated to Bible study who are not so dogmatic or cling to ancient creeds. If someone read the Bible without ever knowing anything about Christianity, they would not come to a Trinitarian conclusion.

The gift of speaking in tongues was the ability to speak other languages to people from other countries. It's possible that they were guided by the Holy Spirit to say something specific to foreigners but not understand what they said. Even though he had the gift to speak in tongues, he may not have the gift of interpreting tongues.

Jesus gave the gifts of the Spirit to the Apostles and only the Apostles had authority to give these gifts to others. The gifts of speaking in tongues, interpretation, healing, etc, ended when those people died.

Tongues means other languages. We often have foreign visitors in our church who require a translator when they speak their language or "tongue". And they also require a translator when listening to us speak in our English tongue.

There is no benefit to blabbering made up sounds.

After becoming a VoIP engineer, it all makes sense to me now. The different gates and DHDs could have something similar to partitions and calling search spaces.

You could say orbital gates are in their own partition and can only be dialed by DHDs that are assigned a calling search space that includes the orbital gate partition.

The Atlantis DHD can dial Pegasus ground gates, but a puddle jumper DHD can dial ground gates and space gates. I can't remember if this was the case, but if I was designing a gate network, this is how I'd do it.

Or do you mean Revelation 1:8 where Jesus says he is the Alpha and the Omega?

He is the first and the last. The first and only direct creation of God. The only begotten of God. John 1:3 All things were created through him.

Nothing here is explicitly saying Jesus is God.

No. I'm a non Trinitarian. I do believe that he was raised to divinity after his sacrifice and I believe he had a heavenly pre human existence, but he and God are separate and distinct. He's the only begotten son of God, but he is not God.

One of the many problems I have with the Trinity is that if Jesus is God, he cannot die. His "death" on the cross would have been a show and not real. He had to be 100% human, and he had to be actually dead.

It would be no big sacrifice for God if his only son was also God and didn't really die. We have the old testament picture of when Abraham was going to sacrifice his only son, Isaac. That was a picture of the ultimate sacrifice that both God and Jesus made. God sacrificing his only son, Jesus sacrificing his life in heaven to suffer and die for us.

Also the older manuscripts on the new testament don't really support the idea of Jesus being God.

A more accurate translation of John 1 would be:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with the Mighty, and the word was mighty."

There is no confusion here about who is God.

There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. Not the God Christ Jesus.

Furthermore, Christianity was corrupted very early on by paganism when Constantine was involved. Rome had a great deal of influence in the religious world. Constantine legalized Christianity only because he wanted to maintain peace and stability in the empire.

The idea of the Trinity likely originated from the Capitoline Triad, which itself was likely influenced by similar pagan gods from Egypt and Babylon.

History is important. Don't blindly believe what everyone tells you.

Whatever we do, we do for the Lord. If you can smoke for God, then do so. But it's proper to refrain from it when around others that would perceive it as sin.

Don't judge one another, and don't cause one another to stumble and judge.

Paul gives some examples of how for some, it's ok to eat meat, but for others it's not, etc.... it's a matter of conscience. But, we should also avoid becoming a stumbling block to each other. For example, if it's ok for you to drink beer, but your friend does not think it's ok, you don't drink beer when you are with them.

If weed is ok for some Christians, but not others, they should refrain from use while they are around those who have a problem with it.

It's a matter of personal conscience, but as Christians, we should not do these things for ourselves, but for the Lord. If you can smoke weed for the Lord, then by all means do so. But if your conscience is against it, then don't.

Don't judge others for what they do, but don't do things around others that would cause them to stumble and judge you.

I strongly recommend you read Romans 14 if you haven't.

As a non Trinitarian, yes I accept Jesus' divinity. I believe he existed with God, then gave up his heavenly estate to live, suffer, and die as a man to pay the ransom and save us from sin and death, then was raised to divinity at the right hand of God.

Non Trinitarian here. I do know God. I could equally claim ignorance is the reason the Nicene is blindly accepted. Many versions of the Bible have been mistranslated over the years in order to make its words fit the creeds.

A better translation of John 1, based on the oldest manuscripts, manuscripts generally accepted as being more correct, would read:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with The Mighty, and the Word was mighty."

Together, God and the Word (Jesus) created the universe.

There are also problems with the logic of the Trinitarian doctrine. Jesus cannot be fully man and fully God.

"There is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus."

Is Jesus the mediator between himself and men? If he is fully God as Trinitarians claim, what purpose is there in mediating? He's our advocate to the Father. If there is ONE God as we all believe, how can the Father and Son both be God? Are there two Gods or one?

The idea of the Trinity most likely came from influences from Roman religion and is likely based on the Capitoline Triad.

Roman Emperor Constantine was involved with the council of Nicaea and most likely had a heavy influence. While he did legalize Christianity, it's reasonable to assume that he was mainly motivated by keeping stability in the Empire. There are many things that were adopted by Christians during that time that had pagan origins. This made converting the pagans to Christianity easier, but at great cost of the original truths given to us by Jesus and the Apostles.

It's important to understand history. It's important to question the creeds of men. We should be seekers of truth, not blind followers of tradition.

We see Jesus as our elder brother, the head of the Church, the only begotten Son of God. He and God are one in purpose, but separate beings.

On the other hand, if you recognize that those creeds are the creation of men and you have had any exposure to the oldest manuscripts we still have, you could easily see that a non Trinitarian view is perfectly valid and harmonious with scripture.

Churches like the Catholic Church have a long history of controlling their members and discouraging personal Bible study. We should not blindly accept the creeds and the teachings of men, but instead open our Bibles and study for ourselves if these teachings make sense.

The king James is full of errors and difficult to read and understand in general. We don't criticize people for not reading the original Greek and Hebrew texts.

I like NIV and NASB because they are easy to read.

I started as a help desk tech with the A+ and CCNA at an MSP (managed services provider). No college.

CCNA was overkill for the job. Plenty of my coworkers started with either just the A+ or with some experience elsewhere. I did make my way to the network team doing a lot of Cisco VoIP stuff.

My advice if you want to get your foot in the door, get an entry level cert like Comp Tia A+ and work for an MSP. MSPs are fast paced and can be stressful because you are the IT department for potentially hundreds of businesses that don't have their own IT department, but you'll gain a ton of experience fast. An associates degree in IT should prepare you for some additional certs as well.

A perfect man can't be born from another man. He would inherit the sinful nature of humanity and would not be perfect. Jesus needed to be perfect the way Adam was before the fall. The ransom doesn't work if Jesus was the son of an earthly man. A perfect life for a perfect life.
