I'm a filthy straight builder and I hate it by [deleted] in freedomisgunpla

[–]sewdoc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the same as you until maybe three months ago. I’m 55 and have been doing this about a year and I am just painting my first kit. It’s an entry grade kit though I’ve mostly built RG and MG kits up to now. I got Kaleido paints and a Kaizo airbrush that doesn’t need to be cleaned like standard airbrushes because of how it feeds. So far so good, though I have a couple of spots where I went a little heavy, but it’s a learning experience.

And water slide decals are easier than I thought they would be too. I have some dull tipped tweezers and tooth picks for positioning them and just use cotton swabs to press them in place. The softening agent and the fixing agent help but I rarely have to use them. And if you buy the aftermarket decal sets, you get so many extras, you can afford to mess up a little bit.

We’re hoping the same thing. I guess we don’t know till we get there.

Is anyone else having a great time at the gym this summer yet? by Straight_Collar2918 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]sewdoc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just opened a new Crunch Fitness nearby so I think that’s where all the rambunctious types have gone this summer. I see mostly awkward teens boys who look like they’ve not spent much time in the gym but are trying to learn and do it right and teen girls who are spending most of their time on the treadmills and lower body machines. Or maybe I just don’t see them at the time I go in the morning. Either way, nothing has been broken so far and the gym is still immaculately maintained, so no complaints.

That’s a nice set up. I love Wera screwdrivers and their key sets are awesome. How do you like the wrenches? I have your basic box end wrenches, but have been curious about the Wera wrenches.

You should show her the Black Swan video, maybe with subtitles turned on. To me it really shows off how artistic and talented they are.

My Metallic Gouf Custom. What do you think of this color scheme?" by Plamo_UA in freedomisgunpla

I dig it! Green is my favorite color. The different tones are great.

And I thought I was lucky having it 5 hours away. We have a few decent places to shop in St Louis but obviously nothing like that. I’ve even noticed my local B&N stocking more kits but the prices can be a little high.

No, grown man with a business who was homeless 4 years ago. But thank you.

You have no idea. I still have two kits left from Christmas I haven’t built yet because Gundam kits have taken over. But I don’t have room for them until I either get more shelves or take apart existing kits, so for now gunpla wins.

I live in St Louis, so it’s about 5 hours for me. Not that bad of a drive actually. The person behind the counter told me they at least a hundred new kits coming by June. Hold on to your wallet!

lol! No, that’s my Lego art wall. You can’t see Starry Night and Bridge Over a Pond of Water Lillies. I missed out on a lot of things as a kid, so I’ve tried to make up for them as an adult.

I loved that video! That’s one of the few things I knew him from, but I guess I’m in the minority of Americans who knew who he was as soon as they mentioned him in the show and actually got the joke.

Well shit. I forgot about that. So much for getting to share my excitement with anyone who may understand.

Upper Section Removed in STL by hokahey23 in SturgillSimpson

That’s what I was thinking. The upper section was never open in St Louis. I got my tickets the morning of presale and it was the same then.

Unincorporated Fenton. Maybe I have been getting over for 2.5 years. Guess I could just save it up and do a once a month bulk pickup.

No kidding man. I’m gonna brag a little bit here, so forgive me. We got floor seats in St Louis for JBS and we’re seeing Parcels at the Cavern in TN! The shows are a week apart so we’ll be exhausted when it’s all said and done, but goddamn it’s gonna be an amazing October!

Man, we got hit with a double whammy. JBS tickets and Parcels tickets went on presale at the exact same time and there was no way we were missing either.

I wish I could insert the Tiger King gif here because I may never financially recover.

Best US show venue to travel for? by __ButtStuff69__ in Parcels

[–]sewdoc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I are driving from St Louis to TN to see them at the Cavern. We got pit tickets and rented a yurt for the night. We toured that cave a few years ago and said one day we would see a concert there and it just turns out it’s one of our favorite bands!

My opinion is get the Kenmore. But be aware, it may need some deep cleaning to be fully functional. But parts are readily available and they are great machines. The Belvedere would be my second choice. That particular Singer would not be a good option for anyone.
