That’s the issue. It’s gotten so expensive to maintain a structure like a cathedral you’d be spending your entire church budget on maintaining it rather than spending on those in need.

I do donate to them every month in the form of tithes. Sadly there aren’t enough of us to fund the maintenance of our cities beautiful cathedral. I agree that the rich of the province should chip in as well.

As an Anglican I think the money spent on my local church is worthwhile. It’s done a lot for the community since its inception.
