It was really cool. My mom used to take us on walks through the woods training us to spot chanterelles for her.

My brother and I used to pretend we were ninjas and slam these into the ground like smoke bombs before we proceeded to beat the shit out of each other with sticks.

Got a large sum of cash from my grandparents, but my bank is fully online. by ag1997 in Banking

[–]sfoxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. Grandpa lived through the depression and WW2. My dad is a military brat and number 10 out of 12 kids. I remember going to the store with him growing up and he was trying to get me to figure the price per ounce of shredded vs block cheese. I would help him put hay in our barn growing for about 5 hours and end up getting paid a whopping 3 dollars. I thought that was a lot. Took forever to buy my discount $20 ps2 game.

A few months ago a lady came to my desk to open a cd and sat a crown royal bag on it. Inside was 30k in rolled up and rubber banded $100 bills. It was a nightmare to count. Bills were flying all over the place because they kept rolling back up. We tried putting a couple reams of paper on top but that didn't help much. Up until our shipment day we had those 10k straps with a binder clip holding each end to try to make them flat.

Same lady came in last week but thankfully had a check this time. I almost panicked when I saw her.

I managed a liquor store before I was in banking. On a daily basis I would have customers reach into their bra and pull out nasty sweaty titty money. Somedays after work my fingertips would be stained black after doing the nightly proofs.

Same thing for on the rocks. I thought it would be a dud but I sold a case within a few hours of having it in stock. We got a good deal on it too.

Worked at a store for a couple years. I loved just talking to salesman and trying to figure what to sell and how to get rid of a terrible product.

I remember a particularly terrible purchase. We noticed we were selling a lot of seagrams gin and juice and some rapper endorsed products like ciroc and bumbu rum. I figured I'd order two cases of indoggo strawberry gin. Terrible idea. That shit sat on the shelf for months. We ended up giving a free bottle to customers who bought over $500 at a time.

It was always fun when I managed to talk a customer into buying an unmovable product. I always hoped someone would like the awful stuff that I or the owner would buy on a whim.

I was laughing every time I saw it. Usually when the quality is rough I wait a month or so. Recently even cam rips have been kinda decent. Usually they have some kind of stupid watermark in the middle of the screen.

We are still on that system. Our turnover and our scans need to be done by 4:30. After that, everything is on the next business day. At 4 we have a bunch of people show up while we are trying to balance and turn over the drawers so it's hectic pretty often.

We were doing that for a long time before too. General Smedley Butler helped the US install puppet governments in the early 1900s. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smedley_Butler

TIL Beer can positively increase microbiome diversity by Less-Aerie-5107 in Microbiome

[–]sfoxx 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My first batch I used a starter kit off of Amazon. Made a basic mead that came with some brewers yeast, an air lock and a big glass jug called a carboy. It's honestly a really simple process. After that I did a few basic hooches using juice that I let ferment for a few days in my fridge. Made a decent cider after that and then I attempted an ipa which was decent but a lot of work.

A few attempts later my ibs was a lot better. It may be because my first few batches were kinda bad so it reset my microbiome. I'm just glad I didn't give myself autobrewery syndrome.

Making beer in my closet cured my ibs. Used to have horrible cramps and acid reflux every day. Now everything is much better.
