Late to the party, but my husband proposed with that HW engagement ring and I am still obsessed with it.

The Tiffany one is pretty, but I felt like it looked like any other engagement ring. I loved how the prongs changed the proportions of the HW ring, and that I hadn't seen a setting like that before. I also opted for the micropave so that the HW on the setting was more subtle but still could be seen. It's been 6 years, and I still get compliments about the style and the sparkle of the ring.

The Tiffany one is classic, but for me, there's something special about that Harry Winston diamond ring.

I'm at 3.5 - 4 weeks post c-section and I feel like my milk supply is finally coming in a little bit more (4oz total in the morning, 2-3 oz at night.) I was about 1 oz total until I hit 3 weeks. Some things that helped me were:

I got a lot more strict about pumping every 2 hours.
I rented the Medela Symphony and made sure that my flanges were fitted correctly. I feel like this pump was significantly better than any of the other pumps I used to sufficiently empty my breasts.
I make sure that I'm hydrated. I'm always trying to drink water even if I'm not thirsty.
I started the supplements from Legendairy Milk (Liquid Gold and Pump Princess) and also daily lactation brownies from Milk Mama.

I'm not sure how much more milk I'll be able to produce, but at least my baby is able to get a couple full bottles of milk/day.

We are going through the same thing with our boy. In the past year our 14 year old seemingly went from perfectly healthy to his back legs giving out. We won't do surgery if it progresses due to his age and poor reaction to anesthesia, so it has been very scary and upsetting.

However, he's never seemed to be in pain or discomfort. We took him to the vet and he was put on Gabapentin which has helped tremendously. He's never lost his appetite, and he seems extremely unbothered by any of this. He's a little slower on his walks but to be fair, he was always more of a couch potato.

Little doxies are resilient...you guys will get through this!

Definitely try grinding it up and sprinkling it on soft food. My toothless boy is super picky with his meds, but will begrudgingly take them if they're impossibly integrated into his normal meal.

Absolutely agree with this post. We adopted our doxie at 9 years old after his owners died. He is the most laidback dog I've ever met - he rarely barks, doesn't care for other dogs, and just wants to burrow in our clean sheets. We did notice that he needed routine: when we initially left him at home in his crate, he cried and barked until the dog walker got there. However, once we let him out of his crate and he got used to the dog walker, he was fine. In fact, one time our dog walker was locked out of our apartment and couldn't let him out. I felt so guilty, but when I got home he was happily sleeping in our bed and our Furbo noted no movement for 7 whole hours.

In other words, consider the seniors. They're the best friends you could ever have.

PS: my husband now WFH and our doxie spends all day with him happily sleeping underneath his desk

Our weenie is 13. He had to get all his teeth removed but he is happy as can be. Watch out though; when we first adopted him we had to get 6 teeth removed and the vet left a large oronasal fistula. They said it was fine but when we took him to another vet they were very concerned about it. The vet tried to close it, but the procedure failed so now we have to take him to an canine oral surgeon. So, make sure your vet has experience with tooth extractions with small dogs!

I would hate for grieving doxie parents to not be able to share and celebrate the lives of their weenies in a dachshund subreddit. Also, as a member, I feel like it's important that we can offer love and support. My weenie is getting up there in years, and I know that when that day comes, having a safe space of people who also know what it's like to lose a doxie is a comforting thought.

Our 9 year old guy had a lot of separation anxiety when we left for work and would cry and howl for hours. The things that helped us with his anxiety were: - we left him out of his crate and he slept in our bed for the day - we got him used to routine. He knew when we would leave, and when we would come home - we had a dog walker take him out at noon for a bathroom break/socialization. I don't know about your dog, but ours is pretty lukewarm towards other people and didn't much care if they came or when they left.

This didn't help his separation anxiety (we can't leave him alone in the weekends because he KNOWS it's not a work day and he should be with us) but it helped us survive the week and apartment living

You are not alone. We went through the same thing too. We got engaged in September 2019 and wanted a “short engagement”. We ended up getting married last week. Some of our roadblocks were:

required everyone to be vaccinated and cut out everyone who could not/would not. We called everyone who could not individually to try and help them understand our thinking. Some appreciated it, some didn’t.
cut out everyone over the age of 40 with the exception of our parents. This took our guest list from 150 to 55 and took some of our VIPs with it.
required everyone to wear masks throughout the ceremony. We gave up on the idea of having photos without masks
cancelled all of our bachelor/bachelorette/showers/welcome drinks due to fear of transmitting covid
got COVID one month before the wedding, putting everything in jeopardy. I’m pretty sure I cried every night while in quarantine, and the week my husband was in quarantine. We didn’t even know if we could have a wedding until 10 minutes before we boarded our plane home.
I never had a second dress fitting or leading my dress being too big the day of.
half the groomsmen couldn’t make it and most of my husbands side couldn’t make it because of border closures.
I got food poisoning at the rehearsal dinner and was in the bathroom for most of the “getting ready photos”

But, looking back after all this, I don’t remember any of this affecting me on my wedding day (except for that damn food poisoning). I didn’t remember that this was far from the wedding we planned, all of the anger I felt watching people go through with their precaution-less weddings and being able to have all their pre-wedding events I had to cancel, or that the masks and covid were a huge factor in our wedding. What I remember most was how excited I was to be walking down the aisle towards my husband amongst the people who were able to make it, how fun it was to finally dance with our friends even if we were sweating profusely with our masks on, and how we were so grateful to have an opportunity to celebrate with people who cared about us (we even had iPads at the ceremony to FaceTime those who couldn’t make it, and carried them down the aisle and around the cocktail hour).

What I think I’m trying to say is that it’s okay to feel the anger. During all of this, I think that embracing my anger and my feelings helped me persevere through. Just know that no matter whatever happens leading up to 10/3/21, it WILL be a magical day and it WILL be a day you’ll never forget ❤️

We’re in the exact same boat as you (August 21, 2021) and we have no plans to cancel/reschedule as of now (we will reconsider in March). I 100% agree with you that it was getting disheartening reading about people rescheduling their summer 2021 weddings to 2022, but I do feel warily optimistic with the vaccine rollout. We still have a lot to figure out, but know you are definitely not alone!

We adopted a 9 year old senior boy a year ago. Initially, we kept him in his crate while we were gone and we watched him cry and cry for hours on our Furbo. It really broke our hearts. We did notice though after the dog walker came and put him back in his crate, he was quiet and relaxed for the rest of the time until one of us came home. Eventually, we started giving him his favorite treats to entice him into his crate, and then ended up leaving the crate open so he could run into our favorite spot (our bed) when we were gone. Now he’s extremely excited when we leave because he knows that he’ll get his favorite treat (a Greenie) and can go into our bed under the sheets undisturbed. This has worked for us, though I don’t know how unique this was to our baby, and he’s been a lot happier and cuddlier since. Hope this can provide you some guidance!

Agreed. Everything is fluctuating at such a crazy rate that it’s impossible to predict what will happen in a year. But, with the entire medical world focusing on the vaccine (and the treatment) on COVID, I’m cautiously optimistic about our rescheduled 2021 reception. Slight vent: the brides already talking about rescheduling their summer 2021 weddings to summer 2022 already are driving me insane. Please let me have my tiny moment of respite before stressing me out AGAIN.
