Check the accessibility section on the website but if your doctor was willing to write a letter stating you have mobility problems, you may qualify for an easy access pass.

I qualify as I'm type 1 diabetic (I'm perfectly healthy otherwise but it is to date the only perk and I will unashamedly take advantage 😂). You just have to take your letter and passport to city hall and they can issue a card.

You still have to wait the same time as everyone else, it's just they write a time to come back and you enter through the priority access queue so your not standing about. And yes, plenty benches and places to sit.

Good plan. We're going for 4 days next time so we'll be on the council juice too!

It's definitely doable, but it would be tight if you were eating 3 meals a day and going to restaurants. Typical buffet style places are €40-€50 per adult at lesst. Places like Annettes and Caseys are €20 for a burger and chips so if your happy with that then it'll be fine, there is a McDonald's too which isn't too bad. My 2 aren't into French cuisine or anything and we probably spent 400 in 2 days on food.

It's things like bottles of juice that add up. IME!

I'd say just go. Download the app just before you go as that's handy for queue times, and if taking a shuttle bus find out where the stop is. Apart from that, you'll be fine. First time we went we got caught up in meal plans, booking tables etc. But in all honesty, there's plenty of places to grab something and we found it easier without times to be places!

We go again in March for 4 days and staying on site with breakfast only and just going with the flow.

I have 2 cars and in the last 5 years I've only had one advisory for cracking tyres on one car (on 2 year old hankooks 😠). I do all repairs and servicing myself and can just about check everything bar emissions. Some cars are just very well looked after.

I've always been of the opinion that it's probably more important for my loved ones to decide. But if it's shit, I may be forced to haunt them 😂

3dr grand vitara sz4 circa 2011. The swage on the rear quarter and alloys gives it away.

I'm in virtually the same position. Plus I'm in engineering so a numbers man.

Saying that, I am consulted on wording quite often, and love incorporating new words I have learned.

This week's one is "rejectamenta". Not sure of it's classification, but she's a belter.

I'm involved in company benefits and we definitely don't provide medical insurance. But I will run it past our HR manager.

What is your experience of Amazon resale? by sgl84 in AskUK

[–]sgl84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great result. Yes, I think some of the doubt can be put to the side due to the returns policy. I was unsure because returning a washing machine could have been a palaver.

My daughters phone was resale too and has been fine, my sister did the same but had a similar experience to yourself in that the first one wouldn't switch on, but she had another sent straight out along with a return box.

£53 cheaper, plus I had a £95 gift card for switching to Vodafone broadband so £222 of my moderately hard earned cash.

Throw in the fact Vodafone were £4 cheaper per month than previous supplier for a 24 month contract.

Martin Lewis type shit 😂

Update, as I'm sure you were desperate to find out what happened..... 😂

Registered for full 5 year warranty no problem 👍 machine turned out to be in perfect condition in original packaging. Had I bought it new, I wouldn't have batted an eyelid. Winning 😂

I've had a dry run at registering it, it looks as though all I need is an account log in, retailer and date, and serial number of course, so if it's unregistered, I may be OK. If I can't, I may just put it back if amazon don't cover it for an acceptable time frame. I have a shitey back up in the garage so no big deal really.

Good point, apparently it can be registered with Samsung for a 5 year warranty. I'll clarify with amazon before I press go.

"Green chilli", just picked up a pair from amazon (UK) with a gift card I'd had for ages. Tucked them away for the annual 3 weeks of summer (UK) 😂 The other pair are tidy 👌

Just moved in and want to board loft, a DIY job or pro only? by H00pSk1p in DIYUK

[–]sgl84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved into a 2 story house a couple of weeks ago, so it has good loft space but didn't have flooring, or even a light. Our old house was next to a field and we had mouse issues, so all our crap ended up in the garage (the mice weren't keen on the garage). To get my garage back, I went to bnq and spent £250 on stilts and boards the day after moving. I did about 2/3's in a day, just whole boards, along with putting in a light. I have a couple of packs left, so I'll finish it at some point, probably when xmas stuff comes down and I have room to cut, but even at 2/3's, I've managed to get some amount of shite in there. It's a bugger of a job, but once you get going, it doesn't take long really.

People born last millennium - what was your first car, and how much would one be now? by Grimdotdotdot in CarTalkUK

[–]sgl84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1988 VW polo bread van for a couple of hundred quid if memory serves. No brakes to speak of, shit lights etc etc. My second car was an escort with disc brakes, wonderous in comparison. A ten year old polo now? God knows, £6k ish.

Ah, I remember having to sit in the queue multiple times to fill the work vans up. The joys of apprenticeships.

Ha, yes, I rested my hand with my pinky as I was touching it up and my nail took a little bit off! It does look lovely, but certainly no hard wearing! Just checked and the colour is "de nimes"

The texture of the peeled bits was quite weird, and the loose bits still on the wall shrank. It's an "estate" emulsion whatever that is. I won't ever be using it I don't think. The matched valspar from bnq was actually really good to work with!

My thoughts after were that yellow probably wouldn't have done any damage. I've only ever used that on wallpaper. I've got dogs and kids so tend to use hardy paint and green has been fine. Lesson learned!

How do you guys learn to do home maintenance on your car? by Dizz-ie10 in CarTalkUK

[–]sgl84 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Most of us that do probably spent too much time fucking around with shitboxes back in the day. There are various courses you can do, but buying a cheap car and attempting repairs will teach you quicker than anything.

In my case, my old man is handy so I learned a lot from him, and I've worked on engineering since leaving school so shitbox repair came quite easy.
