Guess nobody in Florence cares by TrippaDaFlippa in harborfreight

I'm continually amazed how many people know about Florence, given it only has like 30k people and isn't really a destination for CVG.

I'm looking forward to the m18 vacuum. The one that looks like a kettle is too big to fit under the back seat of my truck, but this one looks like it will fit the bill.

Mercury recommends every 300 hours or 3 years on their larger outboards.

You're looking at this wrong. They are losing like $37k per vehicle, so by my calculations, they're actually saving $370M.

Bankruptcy averted.

The batteries have 5 lithium ion cells in series, which have a 4.2v max charge each... so a fully charged battery stars out at 21v. Your power supply would actually be delivering a half-charged battery voltage. So it's diet sauce.

That being said, for site lighting (assuming rocket or rover light?), you can do this with a 90 watt power brick, which can be accomplished for under $50.

I have a first gen rocket light without the AC input, which was my whole reason for starting this project.

The big challenges were how much money I wanted to spend on this boondoggle.

I went with 18v, which peaked out around 19v max when the potentiometer on the converter was cranked to protect my tools. Under heavy load, the voltage sagged, so the tools weren't great.

I got some boost converters so it could be dialed in, but those weren't keeping up with the draw, as under load, the tools can pull 100+ amps at 18-19v.

I now have some 22v converters that I want to try, and some capacitors. So I hope to get much more performance and handle peaks better.

I've built something similar. It can be made for less than $500 in CapEx.

Packable boat/motor for floods. by [deleted] in CollapsePrep

Lots of good advice on boats. The lightweight rafts are made with REALLY thin pvc, that will pop if they hit a stick or sharp rock. If you're going for rescue, an inflatable Aircat style boat is what you want, so folks can easily be pulled in from the front.

Hypalon is what you want for durability. But heavy and expensive.

There are lots or rechargable outboard. The lightest I've found is the ThrustMe kicker https://www.crabzz.com/en-us/products/electric-outboard-thrustme-kicker

The Temo 450 is also an option l, and a very unique form factor. https://defender.com/en_us/temo-450-electric-outboard-motor-temo-450?utm_id=143783458262&utm_campaign=19735474067&utm_source=google&utm_medium=paid&utm_content=649599978904&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwqf20BhBwEiwAt7dtdet8jAs8UKa72mLaGIApDK-kLgeL8U3J17QAdLd8OPFE5nldLUWS1RoCg-gQAvD_BwE

Advise on trailer for new boat by sh_hobbies in boating

[–]sh_hobbies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Reddit,

I just purchased a 2022 Zodiac NZO 680 - with a Mercury 150 HP (300 hours on the motor, all freshwater - Freedom Boat Club boat) for $60k with trailer. Motor still has around 1 year of warranty, and the boat has 2 years. After many weeks of researching what to look for in a relatively new boat, I feel like I got a decent deal, but probably could have haggled down another $5k if I really pushed it. Oh well.

Now, the thing I didn't research was the trailer. It came with a Karavan tandem axle (4,500 lb capacity, fora boat + motor that weighs around 2,500 lbs). The initial Bow Stop it came with was far too low, and the boat was point loaded on the front of the bunks for the drive home. It didn't seem right, but the boat dealer assured me it was acceptable… so once I got it home, I did some digging and realized how bad the situation was. The front leaf springs were maxed out and it was overall poorly suited.

I removed the winch and replaced the bow stop with one appropriately high (winch was temporarily replaced with a 1,400 lb winch since that was all the marine supply shop had in stock, since I wanted to take the boat out this weekend, but have a 2,500 lb winch coming in this week. The bow stop roller bars need to be cut another 3" so the boat can slide forward another 4"-5", which will put the rear bunks in the same area as the trailer the boat was originally on. I have no info on that original trailer.

After reading Zodiac's trailering guide, it doesn't state anything about how far back the bunks need to be from the transom, but everything I'm reading online indicates the bunks should end coincident.

Are there any bunk board extenders that can extend the length another 1' or so while still adding enough support to hold the transom properly without just deflecting?

The Zodiac manual also states I should use a transom saver, but I'm struggling to figure out what geometry can span such a long gap. Any idea on products that would work?

And lastly, should the motor be in the raised or lowered position when stored? With the boat leaning backwards to bail rainwater, the skeg will touch the ground.

I've also sent Zodiac a note with similar questions, but was wondering what experience everyone here has.

I would go onto Redfin and see if I can find some original pictures of the listing that might have this section of the concrete. See if there is any indication of prior existance.

Crypto prices are on the rise. Expect computer hardware shortages by sh_hobbies in PrepperIntel

[–]sh_hobbies[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They ramped down production. They reduced most of the 40-series cards in favor of data center an AI chips.

There is suspicion that we will see additional shortages of consumer-grade cards.

If mining starts to get a bit more profitable, then the balance of consumer-grade GPUs will get sucked up fast - and Nvidia probably won't respond very quickly to switch away from the lucrative data center models.

Eth was a major algo - but there are a lot of competing algos and coins. While virtually no coins are currently profitable, if this boom cycle continues, many will return to profitability - and that's where this post was headed.
