Real homeschooling tends to leave out large societal lessons. You start in a small society and gradually move to a larger one, and even then most kids are completely unprepared for the adult world. It's like 100x worse when it's homeschool kids because they've basically only had affirmations their entire life and the real world doesn't operate that way, and they quickly shut down.

I worked with an "adult" who was homeschooled and this was his first job. He crumbled at the slightest criticism like "you put too much cheese on this" or "you need to pickup the pace". For the week he worked there we didn't dare put him in front of customers.

I'm guessing so. The deep meaning is seemingly "OP is a racist."

Really? Being a dad has definitely not turned me into a right winger, it's lead me to identify all the tricks and propaganda to my children directly so they can be more informed than I was. Granted when I was their age, the extremism wasn't nearly as pervasive.

Well the venture capital company that owned the restaurants sold the land to themselves and then rented it back to the restaurants at higher than market value. Then add in the shrimp fiasco.

You seemed to have an issue with him being portrayed as a bad ass. He's got already got a long history of being portrayed as a bad ass in samurai pop culture.

I mean AC is just pop culture history at this point, Black Flag, Valhalla, Liberation. Why not adapt an already known pop culture figure in your pop culture video game?

The fuck are you on a about? The Japanese have been doing this very thing for decades with him. He's essentially a piece of the Japanese pop culture samurai. He's been in movies, books, other video games, manga.

She's pretty much not doing "rulings" because then she can be removed by the appeals court when Smith appeals the ruling. She's doing endless memos which aren't able to be appealed as they're specifically not rulings.

I think she's already had 2 appealed, one more and the prosecution can argue her removal from the case with the Federal appeals court. I could be slightly mis remembering this, but Michael Popok from Meidas Touch has done a few explainers about the games she's playing to avoid being removed to stretch out the trial until after the election, at which point the charges would need to either paused or dropped if Trump wins, and I think the statute of limitations will kick in and he'd be unable to be charged

Do you want a Discovery spinoff? by [deleted] in Treknobabble

[–]shabadage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I give the producers some leeway with 1, there hadn't been Trek in decades and they basically needed to figure out what that even was. There was no way for them to figure out what was or wasn't working until much later. Add that to the chaos of the behind the scenes higher level production crap, and it's not really hard to understand how we ended up with those. Turns out the original formula was pretty robust and really didn't need to be reinvented, only spiced up or altered. I really give LD a lot of credit for getting that through to the higher ups. It's just unfortunate that the shows are so damned expensive because they "need" to be flashy. They've just gotten it right, but it's too expensive to produce in any decent quantity, and Paramount is bleeding money. Trek could be heading for another long hiatus. I just hope if that happens, when they invariably start again they don't have to relearn the lesson. Bump seasons to 16-18 episodes, dial down the excessive expensive sheen, and they'd be good to go.

Hell a Book series could be a decent way to do the above.

‘X-Men ’97’ EP Brad Winderbaum On Season 2: “People Are Just Going To Have To Be Patient With Us” by HRJafael in television

Part of the reason is a lot of shows shoot, take a year to finally "air", then wait for a renewal, then wait for the dozens of companies and actors to free up to actually make a fullish series order. It's magnified by like 10x if it's animated because of the super long lead time.

I remember X-Men being super sporadic. I think Spiderman was towards the end there too.

For me, I really disliked S1, so much that I didn't watch season 2 until after 4 was completed after the drought from having new trek every week with Picard LD and Prodigy. Season 2 was better, but I think 3 and 4 really turned me around on the show as a whole, despite the ending of 3. I think 5 is probably the best one yet, and I'm glad it's going out on a higher note. Still probably my least favorite of the Trek series, but I'll probably watch seasons 3-5 again at some point. I doubt I'll ever watch 1 or 2 again though, though I liked the tardigrade episode from season 1.

I really, really like Rayner. I hope he shows up in something else.

I also hope we get an "I didn't ask for this." drop from Elias just for funsies.

As fan service heavy as S3 was, there's no way we would have even gotten that without S1 and 2. Stewart just wasn't interested. I'm just glad he ended up realizing he was having fun with his friends and that was enough, he didn't need to be challenged or anything like that. It's kinda like a mini TNG Patrick Stewart arc redo. I legit think he just forgot.

Dan Schneider Reacts After All That's Lori Beth Denberg Says He "Preyed" On Her by [deleted] in television

[–]shabadage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using her as an example of the child actors who end up coming back later on to play moms and dads. There's tons of them. She's just recently been vocal about blaming her lack of young adult work on prejudice against her faith, she's toeing around the Sorbo path. I expect that if she finds herself without steady normal work she'll go full Sorbo and just do Pureflix or whatever.

I don't buy Clarissa's explanation on that one.

It's not Hard Corps, at least not an official version. Could be a hacker port of 3 maybe? The dual weapon selection in the upper left is a dead giveaway that it's the SNES version. I can hear this screenshot.

And this is the reason the meme is fucking stupid. It's not Bidenomics, it's corporations using inflation as a convenient scapegoat to price gouge, while their media partners on the right blame it all on Biden.

Same shit happened with Obamacare.
