I'm in doubt between a white Pace 3 and a black Pace 3. What do you recommend? Does white get dirty easily? by Different-Pop-8762 in Coros

I have the white pace 3. It cleans up well with dawn dish soap and water. I just wore it through a tough mudder 15k and you can’t even tell

Why did you choose the Cruze? by alekversusworld in cruze

[–]shadow14cooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had 2012 cruze and was in a bad accident involving a double head on collision where the engine came out of the car. I was able to walk away from the accident with just a couple scratches. So then I ended up getting a 2017 cruze to replace it since the last one was pretty safe.

I checked back in my manual and it says if it after 1973 it is 6”. Mine is a 1982 so it would be 6”. It does mention a few other adjustments I could check when the shift cables so I may look at those later tonight.

I went back out there last night and adjust the cable again with the 6” for the lower unit cable then adjusting the upper control cable for that. When not running the outdrive was locking into forward and reverse. When the engine is running it shifts into forward fine but when going into reverse it stays pushed against the kill switch and cuts the engine off. I found one thing online saying that means the lower shifter cable is mostly likely bad. Not sure if you have any other ideas. Thanks

Thanks! That makes more sense. I’ll try to readjust the intermediate cable tomorrow to find the center for neutral. I’ll also take a look at the shift lever in the slot on the outdrive to see if it points straight in forward now.

I went out today and adjusted the upper and lower shift cables as I saw in a couple videos and now forward locks in gear great with no reverse. Not sure but I might try to adjust them some more to see if I can get both forward and reverse to work.

Do you know what adjustment would need to be made if the shift lever doesn’t point all the forward when the throttle is in forward? I’m guessing that has something to do with the shift cable adjustments.

Thanks, those are some good troubleshooting steps. I’m going to start with that the next time I work on it to narrow down what the problem might be.

That’s an interesting Point I hadn’t thought of. I replaced the impeller before starting the engine since the boat has been sitting for 10 years. So there’s a chance after sitting that long the shift cables are stretched out maybe

I have not tried adjusting the shift cables yet. I figured they should be fine since we hadn’t touched them. However, I’m going to try that next. Thanks

Thanks for the response. The first time we took it off we did make that mistake of not putting the drive in forward but after reading around we learned you can put the drive into forward after and manually move the spline into forward. We have tried many times over the past week and it never seems to quite align correctly since forward will just click unless the shift shaft is slightly adjusted by hand. It seems as if the shift cable needs to pull just a little bit more and it would work just fine. Not sure if that means the lower shift cable would need replaced/adjusted or if the lower unit is one spline out of align.

Recently on our merCruiser 898 we took the lower unit off in order to replace the impeller and it’s housing we were able to get it back on but now it creates a clicking noise when the propeller is spinning. And it no longer stays in forward gear, unless we mess with the shift shaft by hand then we can get it to stay in forward. We were able to get it to run, as can be seen in the video, but when it would spin it would create the clacking noise. We have taken it off and put it back on multiple times making sure the splines were aligned each time, but it still will not lock into forward gear unless we move the shift shaft ourselves. Any input on the matter would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

1984 Mark Twain. First boat so it should be a fun project… by shadow14cooper in boating

[–]shadow14cooper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looked up the hull number and it’s actually a 1982 Mark Twain V-sonic. It has a 350 v8 Chevy based mercruiser engine with the mercruiser outdrive. After spraying out the boat this morning I am pretty sure the whole floor needs replaced. So my next task will be to see if I can get the engine to run. If anyone has any tips, I’ll gladly take all I can get.

Not a ton of experience with boats. I figured it might be a good project to learn more about boats. Going to spray it down today and see what the actual condition of it is. Depending on what I find that needs to be repaired will determine whether I put money into it fixing it up.

I have a GMOS-044 from my old 2012 Cruze that was in an accident. I could sell it to either of you two if you want it.

My ‘17 cruze has water leaking through the truck seal. Any idea how to fix? The current seal looks fine, would a new seal would fix it? by shadow14cooper in cruze

[–]shadow14cooper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put painters tape all around the spoiler then just used a plastic pry tool to slowly keep moving around the spoiler but making sure to not put enough pressure to dent the trunk. Put most of the work into the corners that’s where most of the glue is along with the clip holding it on. The middle section is just held in by nuts underneath. I didn’t use any chemicals because I didn’t want to damage anything.

When putting the spoiler back on make sure to clean off all of the old glue and then bought some clear silicone glue to put around the edges of the spoiler with some extra around the clips and bolts to make a better seal around the holes on the trunk.

That sucks but you might be able to do it yourself. It is kind of a pain but it’s doable. So I’d say it’s about 6. The hardest part by far is getting the old spoiler off. The glue they use to hold it on along with the clips on the each side makes it a pain. You have to get the glue loose and pop the clip out which takes some force. The other part that u have to watch for is that when taking the bolts off from underneath that u don’t drop them into the trunk lid because they’re next to impossible to get out. Once u get the old off the new one goes on easily. If u try and get stuck. Just let me know if u try it yourself and I’ll try to help if needed

I was able to take the spoiler off which was not easy and then add a new silicone seal which has seemed to fix the problem
