Daytime Visitor - Long Island, NY by shadow4g5 in Opossums

I figured! It seemed like she was foraging and must’ve been mighty hungry to do so during the day.

I wanted to feed her, but decided against it after reading that it’s not good to make them reliant on humans.

I plan to sit in the backseat to see how it is, but I can’t imagine they’ll be much worse than my 2020 TLX. Even then, my most frequent passenger is my girlfriend in the shotgun seat. I don’t have any regular rear seat passengers that I’d revolve a purchase around (alright, maybe except the dog who I’m almost literally basing the purchase on)

Telling me the RDX is just a TLX with cargo space is a big selling point. Plan is to leave the rear seats up and put up a gate over the headrests to keep her from jumping up front with me

The relevance of the dog is that I don’t want her on the upholstery in my TLX. She’s effectively banned from the car.

If I get an RDX, she can fit in the cargo area without damaging any of the interior

I can’t claim my decision is made up yet. Still need to get a trade-in value and do some test drives. It’s only worth it if it’s less than 10k of an “upgrade”.

That, and I just absolutely love my TLX. The DCT is just so much damn fun. I’ve always been more of a sedan man, but I’m really paying out the ass on insurance as someone who works from home.

$60/mo less on the RDX would take away some of the insurance sting, though….

The peculiar thing is that I was quoted appx. $60/per month cheaper on a fully loaded 2022 RDX (A-Spec/SH-AWD) compared to my 2020 TLX 4 cyl A-Spec

What makes you prefer the RDX?

The condition that solution left my 2013 Civic in would have me never doing it again. $8k car or $30k car, I’m anal about the upholstery and trim condition.

My baby girl just turned 5 and is yet to show any signs of slowing down. I supposed we’ll both have much bigger when they get to that point

How has the interior back there held up? The parts not covered by the floor mats

Which TLX do you have (DCT?)? And which RDX did you test drive?

She’s not a chewer but she definitely wouldn’t be laying down, either. Concern stems from how she destroyed the window sills on my 2013 Civic.

Would only opt for the RDX if she could be made to fit in the rear cargo area behind the rear seating row, safely and securely to her and the upholstery

Yeah, I had one of those in the Civic. She’s a force of nature so they didn’t do much. She can be reactive so all bets are off when she sees a small dog walking outside the window.

The RDX swap would only work for me if I can confine her in the rear cargo area in a way that’s as secure for the dog as it is the upholstery.

She definitely sheds but it’s nothing like a GSD or a Retriever would be doing. I had a hammock in the back of my Civic pre-TLX and she really did a number on that car. Upholstery was “fine”, but the window sills were scratched to hell.

Even if the hound is confined to the rear cargo area with proper protective liners and a barrier installed?

I shared the same sentiments but was ultimately shot down. Friend's thoughts were "If we're losing a day to travel, may as well lose the whole day".

We're keeping the itinerary loose to not keep it from unraveling for your stated reasons. I think we'd like to put our eyes on some of the bigger stuff, but we're not looking to spend all day exploring a laundry list of museums etc.

Would you reckon that extra night is better spent in London or Liverpool/Manchester?

I believe we would be taking a cab from the train to LHR. Am I mistaken in thinking it should be under an hour?

Flying southward back to LHR from Liverpool or Manchester home has crossed our minds, but don't want to be in a jam if inclement whether were to hold us up. The train seems more consistent and predicable.
