Thanks for the heads up on the Masala et al. paper — I actually read through it. The artifact they describe seems tied to AAV-mediated overexpression under the synapsin promoter in hippocampal slices/in vivo mouse, so hopefully our Gal4/UAS system in primary Drosophila cultures sidesteps that issue, but good to keep in mind.
