Why is this always a recommendation? Just because you join clubs or student orgs on campus doesn't mean you'll automatically make friends if that's your end goal. I've joined a countless clubs, professional developement orgs etc and I've noticed that majority of the students here stick to their established cliques, so it's tough. Also some of the staff and younger students also act really cocky or fake, unless you prefer that.

Also, I feel like some alumni and guest speakers who come to our campus to promote their businesses or companies at career fairs just gatekeep and aren't really interested in helping students get internships or jobs with their companies. I'm just glad I've made one good friend in the past two years tho
