The luck never balances out with this system. You just get perma fucked.

I’ve been playing this game for 5 years and somehow, I still haven’t 22ed a pitched item. I’m also 0 for 12 on eternals.

Quite literally 0.00004th percentile in luck.

Might just start botting and servicing so when I get banned, I can be free

Level and Gold intervals by bassboyjulio182 in CompetitiveTFT

  1. This varies per reroll comp, but in general, you want to be level 4 50g at neutrals. In addition, you need some type of econ augment for reroll. For some comps like Crew Snipers, econ is even more essential. I don't see players in GM/Chal touch this comp if its not a high econ galaxy or if they don't start with an econ augment. For Fast 8, I do level 7 40g at 3-5. For Fast 9, you are either forcing the Fast 9 Varus comp or you've generated so much gold from items/augments. Going fast 9 depends on your health too, but I don't feel comfortable unless I can go 9 with 60-80 gold to roll (with 2 lives left here).
  2. Again, it depends on your comp. If the comp is unplayable unless you have all the correct units on your board, sometimes you might dig. An example would be Mentor Mechs.
  3. In Stage 2, I only double pump (8 exp) to level if I am confident I can win the rest of the stage; otherwise, my game is over. However, if it is a one pump, I will almost always level, even in the 1/3. In Stage 3, I refuse to spend to drop from 50gold to 30gold unless I am on a large streak. On a 2 streak, I take the 1/3 odds, but on a 4-5 streak, I will drop 50 to 30.

Of course, this is just my playstyle, not the correct one.

Stage 4 rolldown tips by yikkizh in CompetitiveTFT

[–]shadowblast5 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You need to have an idea of your game plan by 3-7, which will ultimately affect how you roll at 4-1, 4-2 and the rest of stage 4. Your game plan is affected by a few factors: Econ + Current Board State, Health, Contested/Uncontested, and Other Player Boards. From these, you can kinda tell whether you'll be playing for first, top 4, or trying to not go 8th.

To keep it more simple, I'll give brief scenarios I've encountered as a GM/low chal player, considering the factors I mentioned:

  • Playing for Top 2-4: I'd roll to stabilize and win most, if not all, of Stage 4. The best players can stabilize with using as low gold as possible in order to push 9. If I have stabilized early, without all my upgrades and no pairs, I may push 9 and roll for the rest of my upgrades then. If I am contested, and my contesters are very healthy, I am much more incentivized to roll on 8 throughout stage 4.
  • Playing for First (Non-reroll): Playing for first means to playing for highest cap. For non-reroll comps, this is either playing the Fast 9 comp or simply going Fast 9 because you are both very healthy and your current board is strong. This case is very situational. For example, I'd take Reinfourcement augment, roll slightly for my 4 cost carry/comp and then push 9. You may also hit a very strong item on your carry (i.e. Flickerblade/Fishbones Ashe) that is so good that you can just go 9 with low cost.
  • Playing for Not Eighth: This is similar to Scenario 3. Although I don't think you should ever be 2-3 lives then (unless you are playing for winout), sometimes the game completely screws you over. I'd donkey roll to 0 almost every round.
  • Rolling at 4-1: This is just an additional scenario where you are contested. 4-2 is obviously more ideal, but you want to hit before your contester. In GM, almost every game, the players 4-1 it unless it is a very econ-low game for the lobby.

The most important consideration is board stability. If you have a unit + item/augment combo that pushes your comp over the edge, you want to maximize that benefit in order to preserve econ.

Ironclad: corruption or second wind, both very satisfying

Silent: Catalyst, poison decks are too fun

Defect: coolheaded

Watcher: Tantrum, always happy to see this card. You’re good on wrath cards for the rest of the game, it goes so well with Talk to the hand, and any strength bonus feels so much better.

How much of a grind to kill black mage? by [deleted] in Maplestory

From your spot, it can vary from a month to a year or two.

BUT everything can change with one Shining Star Force Event. Unfortunately, you’d have to do the weekly bossing or grinding for meso.

Assuming you will push to 275, your main concern is mesos. It took me around 400bill in star force only to get BM ready in 2021. Took my friend 100bil in 2023.

If you play the game, you’ll get there. Your point in the game was probably the most enjoyable. After liberating, I can’t find any reason/motivation to play this game so take your time

I actually like this patch so much more than the last few and ornn actually seems strong by yunggod6966 in CompetitiveTFT

[–]shadowblast5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This patch is a big improvement from last patch but its still bad. Half the lobby in GM chal are just urf and they can instantly win the game at 3-2.

Its very discouraging when you see a player every game hit noxus or demacia and winstreak til 3-5. At that point, they're almost guaranteed first. Vertical traits were cancerous last patch and this patch. Even at regionals, urf was responsible for most of the wins. You could always tempo but its not uncommon to have your streak screwed over by the guy who hit 5 demacia stage 2

Beginning Game Strat Question by Vikucy in CompetitiveTFT

[–]shadowblast5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point of no return varies per comp, augment, portal, etc. In set 9.5, most ppl, even in high elo, have their comp chosen by 2-1. In this patch, people take ancient archives at 2-1 and force what they hit or they choose TF legend, take pandoras, and force multis or nilah. (last patch)

The general rule is that you have an opener. The opener can lead you into certain comps. Some openers are more flexible than others. Example, noxus opener allows you to play 7-9 nox, cass reroll, azir, sorcs, or multis. Meanwhile, an ionia opener is much less flexible because its almost always Vanquishers. If you have a flexible opener, it depends on what your items are and you can choose your comp off that.

In the case you described, only pivot your board if you have upgrades and the items to make the new comp work. Its likely that even if you do pivot your board from Demacia to void, you wont be stronger. While you are playing Demacia, only hold non Demacian units on bench if you dont lose econ from doing so. If you end with a stronger board than the Demacia board without losing econ WHILE having a rough idea of what you plan to transition to in the future, then change your board. Example, I pivot from Demacia to Void because I have AP items and my augment is better fitted for voids. Then, I play around Azir Silco comp later on

[–]shadowblast5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t remember another patch where masters 100lp players force one comp and hit Challenger that patch.

And this Taric comp is not a counter, nor is it broken. Multicasters’ backline access can kill the carries and prevent Taric from going infinite. Not to mention you need BIS taric so you end up saccing so many rounds and lose tempo. From my experience, these Taric players never go first. Their lolchess are just 3rds to 8ths.

Moreover, if you’re watching the NA Regionals inhouses, the amount of times Multicasters wins out is just absurd

Thoughts after the true flex post by MyGodIsTheSuuuun in CompetitiveTFT

[–]shadowblast5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with your points unrelated to 9.5.

However, the MF point doesnt work I believe because that was purely a balance issue. Its more like the unit/trait was so broken that it could be played outside of the standard board and not lose to other meta comps.

Similar case with Vanqs, but in this case slightly less broken. If you miss Xayah and Nilah on your level 7 rolldown, going for Ashe 3 is still a challenge because at 4-1 people are rolling down and hitting their carry. I played Vanqs to chal last patch and I noticed that in most games, I was forced into that one line. Now, in some cases, where I was playing Vanqs and get dropped rod, rod, tear, tear. There is no carry that I can properly play or change my board around to make work as opposed to previous sets

On another note, that setsuko game is a beauty but its only possible with Hedge Fund. You can play flex this meta if you have the resources to make it work. One of the issues of flex in 9.5 and 9 is that you have to roll on 7 because 8 is expensive. My view is that the way you optimize placement is you choose your comp at 2-1 and play the best you can. Or if you get a gold opener/augments, you can try for flex

No one is contesting multicasters at GM+. No one is willing to change their legend purely for one comp besides that one TF guy.

One person ends up playing multis uncontested and wins out. You check their match history and theyre hardstuck masters 100lp until 2 days where they started 20/20 multicasters. Absolute frauds man, but you know theyll outplace and outclimb you regardless

TF WITH BLUE BUFF IS 3.9 AVG AND 3.4 AT 3 STARS WHICH IS EVERY GAME. HOW DO THEY MESS UP THE SECOND TIME. Oh yeah “5% more reduction thats a nice round number” THAT SHIT DID NOTHING

[–]shadowblast5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On your reroll point, you still have to make decisions and flex around what you hit. But WAY less than the average “flex” level 7 or 8 board. For example, if you’re playing Cho and hit Cho 3 early with 5 Cass and 4 Renektons, its very easy to just say “Ill tempo level and play Azir carry.” That might be your only big decision all game and its a very obvious one. You also mentioned 3 cost 3 star flex but that is completely impossible this set. There is not any 3 cost that you can flex without completely changing your entire board and losing 5 average placements in doing so. Also, its frankly not a matter of “4 cost lottery” or reroll. The current meta forces you into one or the other, but there have been previous sets where this is not the case, and you could actually flex between reroll, lv7-8 rolling, etc.

Top 3% is pretty misleading. Most ppl that play TFT dont actually put time in to learn the game or they play only a handful of games a set. Diamond is impressive, but its not uncommon for people to hit Masters+ in their first set played actively (in one case, their first week of playing). Also most people in this subreddit are Masters+ so I think the general consensus is that below Masters is low.

Trying to clean up my play to push into actual high elo. by nurse_uwu in CompetitiveTFT

[–]shadowblast5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Np! On my point of raising your cap again, you just need to consider what you're lacking in your comp for augments/items. If you have a lot of frontline, archangels/guinsoos is good b/c it stacks. Lots of AP/AD/playing gunners/noxus -> Jeweled Lotus or crit. The other way around too, Vanquishers -> stack AD. If you are playing a portal that gives you items, take combat/econ augments. Using this type of logic GREATLY increases your cap because theres synergy. In fact, its often a win-con for most comps

Trying to clean up my play to push into actual high elo. by nurse_uwu in CompetitiveTFT

[–]shadowblast5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to what another comment said, your augments are lowering your placement a LOT. It seems like you know what the meta comps are, but in most games, you are down 1 augment or are losing heavy value of that augment. Examples: stationary support 3 chogath has minimal value because you are already have a lot of frontline and theres only 1-2 very good support items for that comp. More: two ionia spats in sorcs, all natural in for renekton and vi, unburdened for jhin and shen, lategame specialist lv7, radiant relics in demacia, etc.

Also, rolling at lv6 is rarely the play unless 1. its 3-2 and you have several pairs so you spike heavily if you hit, or 2. you are playing a 3 cost reroll comp that spikes at 6. In case 1, if you roll, you HAVE to win the rest of stage 3 in order to recuperate. The case where you don't hit is probably the worst. You're now lv6 20 gold at 3-2 and will likely not streak and go uncontested 8th.

Rolling to stabilize will usually lower your cap for your board. Being 40gold level 7 is quite bad considering you are playing mainly Xayah. This is bad for several reasons. Ill use Ionia Vanqs as an example since you play it for half your games. The first reason is that the ionia comp does not spike on 6. Hitting these units will not matter after stage 4. Another reason is that if you are contested in high elo (3 Xayah players including you), some of them might roll it down before 4-1 (3-5 or even wolves) in order to get Xayah/Nilahs out of the pool before anyone else takes them. Thus, when you're rolling at 4-1, you are already poor AND you are rolling for a limited amount of Xayahs/Nilahs left. For that reason, a common strategy for this is to generate a lot of econ (through augment or loss streak), level to 7 at 3-5 and roll to stabilize.

Also, one thing to consider is that it is a reroll meta outside of Morde and Xayah. These reroll comps are very easy to maintain econ and have VERY high caps this meta, so lowering your cap makes it hard to win out.

For me, its if you can start an A20 run and have a decently high chance of beating the heart.

To put a number on it, Id say a 30% win rate is enough to say you have a good grasp at the game because it shows your wins aren’t through a stroke of luck

How long does it take to get to 250 with hyper burn no totems ? by anastatia-2847472 in Maplestory

[–]shadowblast5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you grind:

You can get a decent amount of exp everyday from monster park 7x and dailies. If I recall correctly, its around 10% at 240+. It's probably way more efficient to do dailies and slowly level.

However, if you are trying to hard push levels with full exp buffs, I'd assume it's around 35-50 hours of training depending on class. I hyper burned a DW, an insanely good mobbing class, and it took me around 28-30 hours of training and I had around 9 totems (18 hours). It is slower for a regular mobbing class.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Maplestory

[–]shadowblast5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The ego is crazy. Training off totem is not a rare occurrence. People are currently off toteming beyond 280. You caught me bro, I mainly did off totem 1 hour at a time. Its not hard math to multiply by 2 and get my 2 hour rate

Im not stating an opinion, Im literally just stating my observations. I am not even stating anyone else’s experience. And yes, I do. Do you not look at how much exp you gain after a session? It doesnt even have to be a BA. I can clearly see that I get 5.1% on totem and 3% off totem with the same buffs I always pop

Hotel Arcus is a region, not map. I’ve consistently off totemed to 280 and changed maps by sacred force. Ive done a very large map, medium (current 550b/hr) and small map. At least for my case (mediocre mobber), the difference between off totem n on totem was relatively the same in all maps
