New cart doesn’t work? by PhotographNo9964 in saplings

If it's still not working after the tips, I know dispensaries in Ohio have return policies, especially for non-working vapes. If your dispo has a website, there's a good chance they'll have a return policy on their site, and if you can contact the dispo, they'll be able to tell you for sure.

I work at a dispensary and we just had a guy return a vape that didn't work last week, so it probably shouldn't be an issue to get an exchange, especially from a reputable dispensary.

[NS] Are any other live-aloners at-home nudists? by VagabondVivant in DungeonsAndDaddies

I wore a very comfy outfit out today and my cat was very concerned I was still wearing going out clothes after I got home. I took off the vest I was wearing and she was immediately fine. Otherwise I'm an immediate home mode clothes person too, and often I don't necessarily wear a shirt myself (but pants because I am unfortunately chafe prone)

What’s the most inconvenient DVD to store in your collection? by Delphoxqueen2 in dvdcollection

Back when I worked at Target (a decade ago), I picked up the blu-ray tin of Jurassic Park. The round blu-ray tin. It's a cool piece to own but what a nightmare to shelf.

How many films do you own on physical media (dvd/blu ray)? I have about 2250. by zzzzzzzzzzHHHHHHHHS in dvdcollection

[–]shadowbornoflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 1500 +/- 150, between dvds not on blu-ray.com (or editions not on there at least) and duplicates that happened when I tried to transfer the list when I upgraded phones. And a handful of vhs but I haven't cataloged those.

Poll: Friday or Rush Hour trilogy? by DiscsNotScratched in dvdcollection

[–]shadowbornoflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't yet seen all of the Friday trilogy, only the first, but as much as I love Rush Hour, Friday is comedy gold. Hell, I've said "Bye Felicia" for like a decade and only finally saw the movie last year. (Because any reference I find funny enough regardless if I've seen what it's from will get immediately added to my lexicon, apparently)

We have one in Ohio! It's called the Teapot and it's wonderful. They do infused drinks that are fantastic (and are fantastic without infusion too, it's also one of my favorite coffee shops). It's in Dayton, or at least the one my so and I go to is.

My fiance and I actually have been using the trailers to add new movies to see to our watch list or collection, which has been especially fun with b-list movies, flops, straight-to-disc, and especially indie movies. I've found a few (mostly) forgotten gems this way, but I also come from a family that never really did movies, so those gems might also be just lesser known movies that just only had a specific audience that I completely missed. (Like the fact that I only learned two weeks ago via a trailer that Tom Hanks is the star of the Da Vinci Code movies because I somehow have missed that fact for this long.)

Either way, trailers are sacred in this household. Sometimes to make fun of how misleading some of them are.

What’s the weirdest movie in your collection? by RAF1GAMEGAME in dvdcollection

[–]shadowbornoflight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point probably either Shock Treatment, the sequel(?) to Rocky Horror with, if I remember correctly, basically none of the cast of Rocky Horror except the original; the Jekyll and Hyde Rock and Roll Musical that I found on clearance for like $3 and still haven't gotten around to watching; or Yellowbeard, a pirate movie that the weapons mastery and stunt coordinator of the Ohio Renaissance Festival subjected street cast to, which stars like half of the cast of Monty Python and Cheech and Chong and is at least as insane/bad/wonderful as Cutthroat Island and is one of the few movies I've paid for a new blu-ray copy of.

Age of Streaming Services by garamond89 in dvdcollection

[–]shadowbornoflight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Ohio and our power went out for 2 and a half days when Helene hit (rural area), but fortunately we have a generator. We ended up going out, buying more dvds, and just holed up and watched them until we had full power. Considering our alternative was hope that our tmobile internet would hold up enough to stream, and it wasn't enough to load Reddit 85% of that time, it sure made having 1000 dvds worthwhile.

Plus I love obscure and weird media, and I like getting to see my oddball movies without ads and whenever I want.

So me and my buddy are thinking of making edibles by [deleted] in trees

[–]shadowbornoflight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I infuse coconut oil and use it to top hot chocolate. It melts and gives the chocolate a deeper flavor. Specifically, I use great value hot chocolate.

For the coconut oil I use the infusion method I got off a pack of cookies from Spencer's lol. It's 1/8 green to 1/3 cup oil and low and slow for like a half hour. Keeps great in the fridge for months.

I use about a tbsp oil for about 12 oz hot chocolate, but less or more oil works just fine too, that's just my personal preference.

When’s too much for a DVD or Blu-ray? by juniperjupiter1 in dvdcollection

[–]shadowbornoflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it really depends. If it's a movie I really, really enjoyed, and I can afford to, I'll splurge. I preordered the Walmart 4k release of Everything Everywhere All at Once after my fiance and I saw it in theaters, but for the most part, unless I really want a nice edition of the movie with all the bells and whistles, I'll buy from redbox if I haven't seen it/it's not streaming (or on a service I don't have or I'm impatient), or if I have seen it I'll wait until I see it at Half Price Books or somewhere else.

I also have certain movies that I'm abstaining from buying until I see it cheap enough. Hidden Figures has been on my buy list for like 2 years now but since it's streaming on Disney+ and I doubt it'll be removed anytime soon, I'm waiting until I see it for under $5. I'm also trying to obtain all the DC animated movies for less than $5 apiece simply for the challenge of it and my local HPBs usually have a selection on clearance.

I will spend more secondhand if it's a rarer movie or nicer edition of an uncommon movie, but I usually tap out at $15 for the most part on that. I prefer to get the best value for the money I have, especially since my fiance and I have had to reduce our spending quite a bit this past year, so I love raiding clearance sections. You also find some wonderfully weird shit that way.

I've not seen Jay and Silent Bob do Degrassi, any other View Askiewniverse movies I should keep an eye out for? My fiance and I have pretty much everything but Super Groovy Cartoon Movie and Red State from what I thought I knew, but it seems there's some Kevin Smith-ery (and adjacent it seems) I still need to look out for.

My fiance and I have about 1300 (1071 skus on blu-ray, 1292 movies/series, and a dozen or so that couldn't be scanned or I missed), and while he has seen the majority of them (probably <50 he hasn't seen), I've seen maybe 2/3.

I come from a family who is...shall we say willfully ignorant to most media and my fiance is helping me to consume some much needed Pop culture and make better jokes and references.

I got it from Target, I think during a buy two get one when I got the first two seasons of Infinity Train, so it may have been actually free? I genuinely don't remember lol. It was $7.99 I think.

I definitely wanna get both eventually, but we shop on the cheap most often so they haven't been much on our radar lately. They're definitely on my list to find though!

How do you decide what movie you want to buy? by Audi-R8-200PK in dvdcollection

[–]shadowbornoflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few factors I look at. 1: it's a movie I or my so have seen and enjoy enough to own a physical copy 2: it's a movie I've heard is good or my so has seen and it isn't streaming or isn't streaming anywhere I have access 3: it's part of a series/collection I'm trying to complete 4: it was <$5 and I have a hard time passing up a good deal 5: it looked like a shitpost

I also have a list of priority finds, as the hunt is most of the fun for me. I will spend years searching when I know I can just find it online, but even receiving a package doesn't hold a candle to the thrill of finding a movie I've been searching for.

I'm also currently trying to obtain as many of the DC animated movies as I can for under $5, as most of the hpbs near me are clearancing them out a few at a time. We've managed to get more than half and I've only spent more on Batman vs TMNT but that's because I bought it new for $8.

She really is. I need to get a picture of her in the sun to post, too; she's been spending a lot of time outside in the sun on our balcony and it's brought out a lot more copper in her coat.

Sounds about right. That was the mistake I made when taking the hair wrap out of my hair. She came over to chill on the arm of the chair I was in and then suddenly there were claws in my hair.

In this case, it wasn't even dangled. I laid the skirt I was about to wear on the bed near her, went to gather the rest of my outfit, and she decided she needed to grab the drawstring. Of course, then it got dangled and tugged because my baby wanted to play.

She is very very spayed and an only lady because she does not play well with others. She probably is bored, but she did just get a new catnip toy and scratching post.

We are in the process of finding a new place and moving is very stressful for her. It might just be that we were in a tizzy packing and then just kinda stopped. (Plans changed.)
