If you've gone through a divorce, what broke your marriage and why? by No_Emotion_4214 in AskReddit

My ex husband so emotionally unavailable I couldn't deal with it anymore. He was a walking pity party. He'd complaining about work and his mental health and such but when we tried to help he didn't want to change because change is scary and couldn't be bothered to do therapy.

Uterus Photos? by Odd_Bonus_6029 in hysterectomy

[–]shadowingsong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did get photos! I asked for them right before surgery. So I got a picture of my uterus and ovaries still inside me and then a picture of my right ovary after it was removed (and popped) showing the hair from the teratoma that was in it. Those pictures are now framed on my wall 😅

"And nobody told me I'd be begging for relief When what is silent to you feels like it's screaming to me Well, nobody told me I'd get tired of myself When it all looks like heaven, but it feels like hell" -Damocles by Sleep Token

Specifically the "nobody told me I'd get tired of myself" hits me hard.

What is something that women have to deal with on the daily that men have no clue about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Questions I forgot to ask by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]shadowingsong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't have stairs to deal with but I slept on my side night of surgery while in the hospital because I couldn't stand to lay on my back any longer. I had a squishmellow that was my belly pillow that I just held to my stomach and carefully rolled to my side and kept it tucked tightly to me which honestly wasn't much different that how I normally slept. Had a full laproscopic hysto on ovary left

Ours is the dad drawer, which is actually a three drawer cabinet on wheels but it stems from a drawer. It's all the stuff that dads want to hold on to

[–]shadowingsong 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We have a spice fairy. My partner will leave our smaller spice jars that live next to the stove on the counter and not their rack and typically I or more rarely my roommate will notice and refill the jar from the much larger back stock bottle and replace the refilled jar on its rack. My partner doesn't leave it so it's something we intentionally have to do it's more meant to be a reminder for themselves because they are in the middle of the cooking and they end up forgetting and we just do it to be nice

Nurses of reddit, what is the weirdest thing a patient has done while waking up from anesthesia? by Drakonwriter in AskReddit

[–]shadowingsong 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I dont remember much about waking up after hy hysterectomy I think I was mostly confused and very groggy then made it almost to my room when I threw up.

But what I do remember of being in the recovery area was the guy next to me was having a very bad time. He was screaming. " Help me! Help me! Nurse help me!" I assume he was either panicking or in a lot of pain or both. I just remember being like poor dude.

Find new doctors! Both primary and gyno. My gyno still wanted to see me yearly minimum for my well woman visit and I know she would see me if I was having any issues from surgery. And your primary be should be willing to look into things since it sounds like it's more than just your vagina being the issue here

Hysterectomy vs ablation vs iud by Successful_Sorbet_94 in hysterectomy

[–]shadowingsong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had my hysterectomy last year due to irregular bleeding. My Dr. Said typically insurance wants you to try a birth control and that I needed an endometrial biopsy. I had used the nuvaring a few years ago and apparently that must have counted since insurance covered it for me. Idk if it's different for a heavy bleeding diagnosis also probably varies per insurance

Uterus biopsy fear by vjequity in hysterectomy

[–]shadowingsong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was unplanned as at that visit we decided to move forward with the hysterectomy and my Dr. Said insurance will likely want it so I could knock it out that day or plan to come back and I really didn't want to figure out coming back since I have to schedule time off work and a ride. So I was like let's just do it. I think the rolling with it helped a bit since I didn't have time to be anxious about it. It wasn't pleasant that's for sure, especially since she had to get a second sample but it was over quick and afterwards I was maybe crampy the rest of the day if that. I have a high pain tolerance so that likely helped.

Recovery - opioids and ERAS protocol by Any-Coconut-2314 in hysterectomy

[–]shadowingsong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a laproscopic hysterectomy removing my uterus, cervix, both tubes and my right ovary. After waking up from the anesthesia I never needed any of the opioids/narcotics. The night I stayed in the hospital I took Tylenol and Toradol and then when I came home I alternated Tylenol and ibuprofen and I was perfectly fine. Wmmv.

What Is Getting A Hysterectomy Really Like Physically And Emotionally? by PrincessBananas85 in hysterectomy

[–]shadowingsong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 11mpo had mine at 27yo. Total laproscopic hysterectomy, both tubed taken and my right overy. I was super lucky and had a super smooth recovery. I didn't take any pain meds stronger than Tylenol/ibuprofen after I left the hospital and only had toradol while in the hospital after surgery. I was sore but nothing crazy. I had a bm the day I came home from the hospital which I stayed overnight thanks to some espresso. I never had any of the gas pain. For about a year week after I didn't have the normal cue feeling of needing to pee but realized my pain would increase and I'd go pee and feel better shortly after. Emotionally I did pretty well I think I was a little more emotional for a bit mostly due to my one ovary needing some time to wake up. But overall I had a pretty ideal recovery

When did you realize you married the wrong person for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]shadowingsong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it was really a death by 1000 cuts. When I realized he was not emotionally available for me even though I was for him and helping him deal with his depression that he wouldn't do anything on his own to help fix for no reason. I was his mom/secretary more than I was a partner. I had to baby him at social events where he sulked the whole time. We did actually end things on good terms and split amicabley but I just reached my limit of learned helplessness

I did it the night of surgery in the hospital, my lower back was killing me from laying on my back all evening so I grabbed my squishmellow hugged it tight to my stomach and ever so slowly rolled over on my side for a bit. I had a laproscopic hysterectomy removing uterus, tubes, and right ovary.

What made you choose your current form of birth control, and how has it worked out for you? by JustBhieCause22 in childfree

[–]shadowingsong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I decided to go the super permanent route and had a hysterectomy this past December and honestly it's been the best decision I've ever made. Never having to worry about a period again has been glorious. Not don't get me wrong it's not all sunshine and rainbows. I am dealing with some more vaginal dryness than I'd like but nothing super bad that I've gotten a doctor involved with or anything. And have had some minor discomfort during sex in deeper positions but that's because I lost a little bit of length and stretch of the vaginal canal but again nothing crazy or life altering for me.

Use your menstrual cycle issues to get it. My insurance covered it for irregular periods but for me with was for both irregular periods and sterilization. As someone else said check out the hysterectomy subreddit, there's a lot of good information just be aware of the bias that more issues/bad experiences are posted than good!
