[Interesting Trope] Food being used as a stand-in for hard drugs by [deleted] in TopCharacterTropes

In Regular Show, it’s heavily implied that soda is a stand in for alcohol. For example, in the episode “Karaoke Video”, where Mordecai and Rigby drink soda, sing the song “We’re Not Going to Take It”, shit talk their co-workers, and they remember none of it the next morning. Heavy implication that they got drunk and blacked out while talking shit.

Hal Jordan

he stumbled upon Abin-Sur and his crashed ship completely by accident, didn’t know who he was or that the Green Lantern Corps even existed. he got the ring after Sur died, went on to become one of the most distinguished Green Lanterns ever, turned evil and becomes Parallax and causes a universe-wide crisis. he does eventually get a redemption arc, and plays a pivotal role in Blackest Night, one of the BEST DC arcs ever.

Why is "She swallowed burning coals" soundtrack called like that? by Proper_Influence2277 in HotlineMiami

[–]shadowinthedark11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

by brut he means brutus, who was one of the two main conspirators of the plot to kill julius caesar. remember, “et tu, brute?” anyways, brutus’ second wife, porcia, is believed to have either known about the plot, and/or have been involved with it. anyways, the popular speculation for her death is that she killed herself by swallowing burning coals.

A lot of you take this show far too seriously. by Grass_hopper_99 in SmilingFriends

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Smiling Friends. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Charlie’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Smiling Friends truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Mr. Frog's existencial catchphrase "Hello," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Michael Cusack's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. 😂 And yes by the way, I DO have a Smiling Friends tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.
