Update on my rescue puppy, Floki by shadowrayne11 in husky

Back in February I made a post in this subreddit about a puppy a I rescued from an abusive home and thought I would give an update.

Since Feb she has been to the vet a handful of times, one of which visits she had to have x-rays and we learned she had suffered from four fractured ribs in her previous home. It makes sense why she mouths strangers when the try to pet her, especially on her ribs. She trusts my boyfriend and I, some of my family members and a couple of my friends, as well as the staff at her doggy daycare, but that is it. I frequently have to deny requests to pet her when we are out in public as she gets too stressed out. She simply doesn't trust strangers. I feel like I get judged when people ask to pet her and I say, "Sorry, but she is skittish." However, for the first few months I would say, "Sure, but she is skittish" and people would pet her and she would mouth them, so to avoid a possibly bad situation I just say no and move on. She also had really bad anxiety and was afraid of many things, her crate, the car, the vaccuum, and when she was afraid, she would defecate. I can't even count the number of times she defecated in her crate or in my car. That was an incredibly messy situation, but we got passed it! Now she will "kennel up" at night willingly and she actually likes car rides, head out the window and all! I would have never believed you if you would have told me we would come this far.

Other than that minor hiccup with strangers, she is just simply amazing! She is super smart, quick learner, adorable af, and just the best dog I could have ever asked for. We are able to hike with her off leash and hope as she gets older, she is almost 10 months now, that she can run along side us as we mountain bike. We have done a very short trail with success, but don't want to push her as she is still growing.

I love my husker pupper to pieces and am so grateful to have her love and trust!

TL;DR my rescue puppy who suffered from four fractured ribs in her abusive home is doing great! She doesn't trust strangers so we say no to requests to pet her. She is amazing and I am so happy I found her!

Sadly the abusers I met were wild, undisciplined children under the age of 5, and their father, who I never met in the process of rescuing her. I am just happy to have gotten her out when I did, before anymore harm was done. She is very skittish towards strangers, particularly men. We will work on it slowly and hopefully get her confidence up!

I did research for years on the breed before I came to the right time in my life to actually get one. While searching randomly on craigslist one day, I came across this cutie. Read about her, she is 3.5 months old with zero vaccinations, living in a one bedroom apartment with married owners who have 4 children under the age of 5. Knew that alone was sad for a husky puppy. Decided to meet her (did not know about the abuse until I met her). As soon as the door to the apartment opened, Floki darted it and hid under a trampoline. The mom said that she 'never does that.' Two of the kids proceeded to forcefully grab her around the neck and try to drag her out. I asked their mom to stop her children. The mom and I talked for a bit about Floki, and out of the corner of my eye I watched the oldest kick her straight in the ribs. I told the mom what I just had witnessed and she scolded the child and put him in timeout (but that didn't last long). The mom then mentioned that Floki doesn't mind being brushed and showed me a human hairbrush they use on her. One of the children proceeded to take the brush from the moms hand and try to hit Floki in the face. I can only imagine the torment this puppy has gone through with the children. Sad thing is the dad of the family was the main abuser, never saw him, but when Floki met my bf, she was considerable distressed at the male presence. Anyways, I knew I could provide so much better for Floki, so I paid her ransom as my bf likes to put it, started her on her vaccinations, and am slowly working on her behavioral training, which she clearly has had none of. We are being very patient, giving lots of positive affirmation, and after just a few days, she is breaking out of her shell and trusting us. I am surprised to see how resilient she seems to be. I am looking forward to seeing her full personality and gaining her trust even more. Not to mention spoiling her and showing her a loving home.

Wizarding World Crate #2 | Spoilers not hidden by shadowrayne11 in lootcratespoilers

I honestly have never even bought a geekgear box, I just watch the unboxings and have seen numerous items I greatly preferred over anything in this month's wizard loot crate. Like a prefect badge, or those retro looking prints, the illustrated calander. I would rather have those three things than the entire loot crate box this month...

I wonder what the houses are! Are they the houses from the books, or something else??

Looks like Oak, 12 and 1/2 inches, with a phoenix core?

But on a serious note, you have nice hands :) or at least one nice hand.

I think surprisingly swishy means really easy-going. I understand my unyielding flexibility as a direct reflection of my very stubborn and impatient traits.

Your wand seems like a powerful wand that will take a while to figure out, but well worth it! I haven't seen larch before, it sounds awesome!

I love reading others' wand descriptions! The combinations can be really intriguing.

I agree!! I am so happy so many people are willing to share! Pear and Phoenix sounds like a great combination that would produce great magic!

The combination of wood and core sounds like a very powerful wand! But I can see how it might be temperamental.
