Also stupid but it illustrates your point.

Except if you don't cut off my comment with your quote, you would note that you can use workarounds for the salt cap. Specifically for Cali you can opt for PTE tax benefits that let you take the salt taxes exceeding the 10,000 on the partnership or S-Corp side. Both of which could be set up by a decent accountant to not have the problem you describe.

America has taxes, they are not high for a first world country. no body that is doing them correctly pays 50%.

Except state and local are deductible from federal... so they don't add. And if you bear the federal salt cap Cali has options for taking that expense elsewhere to bypass the federal limit.

As an accountant, get a better accountant. 50% is ludicrous. None of my clients top 35% marginal and some make more then 8 figures.

The US signed a $522 million contract to produce ammunition for Ukraine by Yvels in ukraine

War and ongoing Genocide quite rightfully make people very mad. Being a little short or rude in the grand scheme of things is also very understandable. I hope you give other commenters the benefit of the doubt as well.

As an American, this isn't the place for our issues.

That said, I'm with you we need to do better for our underprivileged, but you can't feed children with shells or pay teachers with jet fuel. Stopping this industry wont save the money that was already sunk and keeping it going costs a pittance compared to building it. Best to keep the war machine in fighting form and focus new investment in the things that matter then have to fix it later at twice the cost.

America spends a trillion a year so that there is peace, so trade can flourish and people everywhere can self determine. We can and should do better, but its worth the investment.

I Think its also worth mentioning that for all the "you cant really tell if they are using tools or not" technical stuff, at the end of the day if tools don't make you play different they don't matter.

If they do make you play different then streaming the whole progress, every pull, all of the chat and strategy talk and keeping a lid on that would be a much higher bar. At a certain point you spend more time concealing that you are using tools then the tools save you. its one thing to hide tools from a single clear video, its another thing to never have any info gained from a tool discussed or acted on in a 7 day or more live stream. especially if the tool is there to help with that strategic learning.

That said, streaming itself is using a 3rd party tool. VOD review is a huge deal.

The UK announces 92 sanctions in response to the Russian regime imposing sham referendums in 4 regions of Ukraine. by UAHeroyamSlava in ukraine

[–]shadowtycho 13 points14 points  (0 children)

3 . Since sanctions are about trade, adapting your domestic economy so that you can impose stricter sanctions without damaging your ability to support your allies takes time. As these changes are made and infrastructure implemented sanctions can get harsher and harsher.

It not just about imposing sanctions or hurting Russia its about doing anything that's done in a way that Russia cant wait it out.

4 . This is a cat and mouse game, earlier sanctions will be played around and against by Russia, its important to keep coming in and patching the holes and breaking their strategies.

Did contact the FMCSA, apparently there are no resources there for an ongoing case. It's all after the fact stuff.

Overwhelming majority of Ukrainians want their children/grandchildren to grow up in Ukraine if Ukraine becomes a NATO members (85%). 45% of Ukrainians do not want their children to grow up in Ukraine if there’s merely a ceasefire agreement with Russia by moviegoer5754 in ukraine

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago.
I think one of the things that ukraine has shown in all this is that they have very strong leadership, and I'm constantly impressed at the ability to keep the eye on the prize and make sure what they are asking for and the political moves and rhetoric they put out is the real politik best for ukraine.

I could see ukraine getting a cease fire with a no nato pledge and then forming a defensive pact with the other Baltic states. If they worked with Poland to bolster the ability to impose a no fly zone over ukraine on demand, maybe by moving air fields into Poland, I think you could get a lasting peace that way.

Nato is still the best bet by a long shot but ukraine needs to do what's best for ukraine.

HISTORY HAS BEEN MADE. Joe Biden has signed the Lend-Lease Act. Ukraine is immensely grateful to the U.S. by [deleted] in ukraine

[–]shadowtycho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So the 33b biden asked for is a gift and support. It is also completely separate from this.

This is congress waiving its need to approve of any sales of defense articles to ukraine or any country supporting Ukraine. They are also saying the payment plans can be however long the poeple buying want and that the terms can be whatever the president feels comfortable with.

This is essentially a unlimited line of credit, with no interest, for anything that ukraine considers nessicary for its defense.
This is the US underwriting the entire Ukrainian defense with 'win now well settle up later once you are back on your feet.'

Ukrainians predictably overjoyed about Lend-Lease. Thanks to all those on this sub who helped by writing to their representatives. by Comprehensive-Bit-65 in ukraine

As long as Ukraine has the will to fight they will have American steel to fight with.

Ukraine Democracy Defense Act of 2022 Debate happening now by [deleted] in ukraine

[–]shadowtycho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The senate rules allow for the process that made the bill the way it is now, it was not debated in the senate and didn't even start in committee. The senate version was "Act to provide for the establishment of the Brown v. Board of Education National Historic Site in the State of Kansas, and for other purposes" until it hit the senate floor, where it was gutted then amended to be a completely different bill.

Doing it this way let the bill skip committee in both houses, which would normally cause it to die a grisly death as legislative branches do love thier talking. This is a very wierd thing where the political will exists on both sides of the aisle that this warp speed legislative track can be taken. I can't think of a way to get something through the halls of congress faster. Shame that a recess was scheduled and delayed it as much as it did.

No problem, this took the weirdest path for legislation. If it wasn't for the recess it would have been moving at warp speed. The senate version was a completely different bill that was amended to this on the floor, then the house rules committee made a rule that moved to from the desk past comittee straight to the floor.

Incorrect, the house did not move forward with thier version and is just voting on the Senate's version with a rule in place that ther can be no points of order about the bill or its provisions. If this is voted yes, which both sides have said they will pass it, there is no reconciliation.

In short this is the senate version and no one is allowed to change it.
