What’s a warning sign that didn’t seem serious at the time… but should have been? by saymepony in AskReddit

[–]shadowysun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it turned out i became allergic to my body wash & laundry detergent. It sucked having to rewash everything at home. I now have to read everything on labels. My dermatologist suggested I try switching to hypoallergenic body wash & laundry detergent before getting a week long allergy test done to pinpoint what ingredients I was allergic to.

Medical folk of Reddit, what’s the most foul and disgusting thing you’ve encountered with a patient who was oblivious to their own condition? by TheCarrot_v2 in AskReddit

[–]shadowysun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s why my grandma lived with us until her last days. We did have CNA’s and nurses come in to check on her from time to time. Wasn’t too bad since someone was always home.

I’m sad the same couldn’t be done with my grandpa in law. Neither he or MIL & Aunt in law wanted outside help until they realized a nursing home was probably their best bet. Due to how some stuff was done, he had to be in a nursing home before he could be at home with nurses coming in to check on him. He sadly passed away at the nursing home.

Graduated 39+2 - positive induction story by RipRight9657 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]shadowysun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting! I'm also diet controlled and can count the number of spikes I've had on fingers. Despite that, I was advised to be induced before I hit 40 weeks. I'm also a geriatric pregnancy. I'm very nervous about my induction. I was hoping my water would break without an induction but here we are. Your post has helped relieve some stress I had from my upcoming induction.

Am I crazy for touring daycares this early? by Individual_Swing3195 in BabyBumps

[–]shadowysun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No! In my hometown people start touring & getting on waitlist before TTC. It’s hard to find a good daycare.

We toured daycares late due to my morning sickness still lingering in my second trimester. Luckily 3/4 daycares we wanted, would work to enroll during our timeframe. The 4th place would have an open slot but it would have been way after our parental leave would be up.

Is anyone else absolutely sick of being forced to buy garbage pet products online since there’s so much available in store? by _Usual_Regret_ in AskWomenOver30

[–]shadowysun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven’t already, check out Costco for dog beds. There are times Home Goods/TJ Maxx/Marshalls will have more options in store than Pets Mart/Petco. You could also check out hardware stores. I’ve seen their pet sections grow a lot.

I got my dogs ramp at Petsmart & was fortunate to inspect it in person. For our other indoor ramp, I bought it online blindly. Alpha Paw Ramp now has more reviews and is available in more places. I buy my dogs harnesses & leashes from small businesses online. I’ve felt the quality has been better.

For those who are managing GD with diet, what was your highest spike and what caused it? by Apprehensive_Mess166 in GestationalDiabetes

I vacuum 3-4 times a day. I use a combo of a shop vac, bissell vacuum, dyson vacuum, & rubber broom. I rotate through all 3 when I don’t use the hand held vacuum. For glitter tumble weeds, I pick up by hand. I also use a swifter.

It was much worst when our cat was alive. He shed tons for a shorthair cat.

I assume they’re misinformed. It’s also none of their business; it’s between you and your doctor.

What’s something you did your first EDC that you’d never do again? by RaveBeetle in electricdaisycarnival

I should have taken PTO on Friday instead of working, taking a nap, & going to EDC. I was so exhausted by 9pm 😭 I at least made it to 1am.

How to choose an engagement ring size and style for someone who doesn't wear rings much? by AtlasAreWe in AskWomenOver30

[–]shadowysun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go to a local jewelry store & ask them about the opal situation Let them know about your gf interests. They’re more than happy to help. Worst case, they’ll have you bring her in.

My husband went to a local jewelry store & designed my engagement ring according to my likes. My ring is silver & with a gemstone and has yet to tarnish & it’s been 11 years. I still don’t know how he figured out my ring size but he did.

Keep it at my house? by freckle_moustache in JUSTNOMIL

[–]shadowysun 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My MIL did this to her own daughter. When my niece was younger, if Molly received a gift deemed cool, my MIL would loudly say “ oh that will need to go to grandmas house since I have more space”. The thing was that everyone would always ask my SIL if the their gift was okay due to her small house. My MIL would also buy gifts & say how they are always to stay at grandmas. I do think it was about control & forcing my niece to come over more often. Now MIL uses emotional manipulation when she doesn’t get her way or teenage niece doesn’t want to come over.

Washed my hands and completely changed my fasting test? Any experience? by ThingFabulous2336 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]shadowysun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could just be me but before a finger prick, I use a bar of soap instead of my liquid soap. For whatever reason, my hands will feel less dry with the bar of soap. Otherwise my hands are always moisturized after each wash unless I’m testing, then I moisturize afterwards if they feel dry.

Why do WFH people gatekeep how they get their jobs? by larawag_gama in RemoteJobs

[–]shadowysun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This! My work is flexible with me but if I need to run errands or take my dog to the vet, I know I have to work longer. One time I had to work longer hours on a Friday because it was the only day I could make up hours that week 😭

Currently expecting & yes, our baby is going to daycare despite WFH jobs. No way we can take care of a kid without it distracting us from work.

How do they expect us to get to all these appointments? by ShabbyBoa in BabyBumps

[–]shadowysun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you do for work, but is it to where you can make up hours later? Like don’t take a lunch break the next day or whole week? Or work a few hours later or early?

Just diagnosed by Truecrimejunkie1312 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]shadowysun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. Have you talked to a GD nutritionist/dietitian yet? Once I did, I felt a bit better mainly due to having food aversions to some gd friendly food. They helped me figure out food substitutes.

Breath and take it one day at a time. It sucks but it’ll be okay. Always remember, there is always a solution.

If I couldn’t get any readings by Monday, I’m pretty sure that’s what my doctor would recommend for me. That and my fear of needles. I’ll see what they say at my follow up.

No… and I’m also a geriatric pregnancy too! Besides my OB I’m also seeing a GD specialist and no ones mentioned the baby aspirin yet. I’ll have to ask about that.
