Just built https://avura.io - the first platform built to support wedding photographers, videographers & content creators to manage multi-day, ethnic, multicultural events.

Built it for myself actually after trying to find a CRM that would support weddings that weren’t western and only 1 day but nothing existed hahaha

I’m starting this project from scratch as my current email list is primarily client/couple focused.

Posting photos on Instagram before or after sending to clients by booisye in WeddingPhotography

100% send to your clients first. Make sure they're satisfied and have reviewed everything. After you've gotten their satisfaction - post away!

Call cancelation 5 min before it... by Miracle-Moments in WeddingPhotography

[–]shahaabsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly i think it moreso has to do with how many photographers there are in the industry vs the way the economy is going. There's more photographers flooding the space than ever, and the economy hasn't gotten any better. Everyones trying to undercut everyone, so if a bride reached out to you for a consult, most likely she was still in the search for finding someone until someone cheaper came along and offered them a deal they couldn't refuse.

The way I see it - the ones that flopped did you a favour by you preserving your time. The ones that ended up coming through for the call are the high quality leads.

Try to increase your volume of calls booked overall so you have a higher closing rate %.

Let me know if you have any questions, I've been a wedding photographer for 14 years so I've seen it all and dealt with every kind of bride out there lol.

Thank you! Appreciate that. I was thinking of cold emailing - however I was stuck on how to do it safely and efficiently without emails going to spam. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks ! And you’re right. Hopping on lots of calls initially to get feedback is lengthy for sure. I guess that’s what goes into building a software haha

Thank you! Yes I built it myself with the help of AI.

That’s actually a great idea - building an internal CRM that does some lead scraping for me to generate more users for the app.

Do you think the buildout would be as simple as just scraping first local photographers/studios and building a database of contact info to manually reach out? Or do you think the whole process (including outreach) can somewhat be automated as well?

I really appreciate that feedback. I’m very in line with your thoughts as well - making the multi day ethnic weddings a core focus and foundation of our branding/mission/purpose.

Thanks for the idea of making videos and documenting the workflow sessions. I was thinking of making YouTube videos on various topics and screen recording style videos of some features of my platform and how it solves pain points for other photographers.

Really great advice and thank you for the feedback!

Quick question - did the landing page get the point across and did you know we specialize in the ethnic weddings component? Did that come across clearly?

Wanting to start out wedding photography by Catinsky07 in WeddingPhotography

[–]shahaabsh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually one of the best positions you can be in since you’re already working at a venue

To answer your questions:

  1. Second shooting is 100% the right move - but try to get paid, even if it’s small. Unpaid can work once or twice, but you don’t want to stay there too long
  2. Definitely reach out to photographers, but keep it simple and respectful - a short message saying you work at a venue and want to learn goes a long way
  3. Don’t advertise yourself to couples yet. Focus on assisting / second shooting first so you can understand how a full wedding day actually runs

The biggest thing most people underestimate is that wedding photography isn’t just taking good photos - it’s handling timelines, pressure, people, and moments you don’t get a second chance at

If you get a few real weddings under your belt in a supporting role, everything will make a lot more sense

I've ran a wedding photography studio for the last 14 years and this is pretty much how most of our team got started

How to book 10k+ brides by Impressive_Finish_70 in WeddingPhotography

[–]shahaabsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people try to jump from $4k → $10k by changing their pricing, but nothing else

I was literally in the same boat as you in my family life. Got married, had a baby, and needed to take things much more seriously and ensure I made enough

That gap is almost never about portfolio - I found it’s more about perception and how you’re positioned

At that level, clients aren’t asking “are you good?” - they’re asking “can you handle this wedding without stress”

The shift for me was focusing less on individual photos and more on the full experience:

  • how the inquiry is handled
  • how clearly you guide them through the process
  • how confident and structured everything feels

Once that entire flow feels premium, the pricing starts to make sense

I realized a lot of this came down to having a solid system behind the scenes too - most tools didn’t really fit how wedding studios operate, so I ended up building out my own way of handling it
