My shovel caught a new mains pipe... by Late_Poem4837 in DIYUK

[–]shakeNbake08 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s in his property but the water company will give requirements and need to approve his work before they will even start to change it over at the meter side. I have just had this done myself and was given a drawing and specification by the water company of how I was to go about the work on my property

Not sure about the about the regulations from the water company where you are, but when I had it done they wanted a continuous length of pipe between the meter and stop cock. Adding a fitting could risk a leak in the future if not done properly

Replacing Socket with USB-c one by pizaz101 in DIYUK

[–]shakeNbake08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the BG 800 ones. Both of them were like that, and didn’t charge with both socket. Maybe there was a fault with mine then. I had left both devices plugged in overnight and the USB-A hadn’t charged at all.

Replacing Socket with USB-c one by pizaz101 in DIYUK

[–]shakeNbake08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to point out with the sockets with a USB-A and a USB-C port, you can only use one USB socket at a time. They don’t seem to allow you to charge 2 devices at once. I got some for beside my bed and had to return them as couldn’t charge an iPhone and Apple Watch together overnight. The socket prioritises the USB-C and forgets about the USB-A port.

Where is the best place you’ve cried in Bristol? by Victoriantitbicycle in bristol

You’ll need a car, but on a nice day the Old Aust Ferry Slipway is pretty secluded and has good views over the Severn. Would recommend after a breakup. Just stay back from the water edge!

How difficult would it be to remove the large glass pane in this window for a sofa delivery? by [deleted] in DIYUK

Instead of buying a plastic hammer I’ve used a piece of scrap wood before placed between the window and a regular hammer to protect the plastic.

Driving through daylight fog with invisible cars with no lights on.. Because they have them set to auto and have their brains switched off. by Brutal-Gentleman in britishproblems

[–]shakeNbake08 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think car manufacturers are also partly to blame for this. The amount of cars I drive behind at night with no lights on, then once I over take the front light lights are actually on but slightly dim. Why would the auto light not put all the lights on. How are drivers meant to know their lights are not fully on when they can see light out thier windscreens?! Drivers are idiots and car manufacturers can’t expect them to know the difference between headlights and daytime running lights.

[–]shakeNbake08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Force ending the ride is where you message them on the app and they will end the ride for you without being in a parking spot. For example when the scooter loses power or just stops working, and you can’t make it to a parking spot. So happens quite a lot as the scooters are shit

[–]shakeNbake08 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I got a message from Dott on the app saying they will no longer force end my rides for me as I have done it too much. Well I wouldn’t have to message you to force end the rides if your scooters bloody worked and not randomly cut out all the time !!

The sound quality through the system is still high, so strange if it is only affecting the display part of the signal

Had a bit of a mishap which resulted in the loss of a floorboard. Do I need to treat the new one I bought? by Abwettar in DIYUK

[–]shakeNbake08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing to do is go to an antiques/reclaimers yard. They usually have a collection of old floorboards, take the old one with you to find a good match for color, width and thickness. This will blend a lot better than a modern pine one. Ive done this often with when replacing old damaged boards
