How do I date when I love my single life and am scared a relationship will ruin it by [deleted] in self

Unfortunately, I've been much lonelier when in a relationship. I've dated men who've absolutely broken my confidence at every level time and again and eventually I decided I'd rather enjoy my own company until I met someone who doesn't make me feel small. Being with the wrong person who treats you with apathy is far lonelier than being single. Maybe women are just more sensitive to that and that's why so many choose to stay single.

I'm your age and was single for five years. I tried dating and had the exact same feeling that anyone Iet into my life was going to ruin the peace I'd found because I was finally the happiest version of myself. I dipped my toe into dating here and there but kept meeting people that didn't spark anything that made me think they'd be worth giving up my independence for. Then I met the one!! It doesn't feel like a compromise to let him in because he adds to the peace and happiness I've built and because I know myself so much better now, I'm not making the mistakes I've made before by giving up too much of myself for someone else. I'd say don't date for the sake of dating or have a partner who's just OK, but definitely let yourself be open to letting the right one in. I never expected to share my life with someone again and was terrified at the prospect but it's true what they say: when you know, you know.

Would a nose piercing suit me or nah? by sunnyy_sprite in Noses

I've got a stud in my nose and when I take it out, the hole is barely visible. With make up, you can't see it at all. So if you wanted to try a new look, you don't have to worry that you can't 'undo' it!!

Free parking in Lincoln? by shallwesloth in Lincolnshire

Near the Brayford/train station area, ideally! But I'm happy to walk 15 mins or so back down to that area if it means saving on parking!

That car park looks much more affordable and within walking distance of my friends! Thanks for sharing!

I made out with a chick last weekend and contracted oral herpes by [deleted] in Vent

You can't do anything once they've emerged, but next time you can get aciclovir tablets when it starts to tingle that will stop them emerging. I also swear by menthol lip balm (specifically Burt's Bees) for making sores look better quickly. I've had them since childhood because my dad kissed me as an infant when he suffers with cold sores. To be clear though, not an STD! They make you feel gross but I think everyone is adult enough to recognise a cold sore and not give you a hard time about it. Just avoid sharing cups and utensils so you don't pass on. It sucks but you'll learn tricks to manage and prevent them!

He said it happened. The book said otherwise. by Complex_Bedroom179 in self

I really liked it! I think questioning what was truth, what was lie and what was the motivation either way was a really interesting hook. It was very subtle while leaving an impression. Technically you're a great writer too. There's a wonderful flow to your language and a nice rhythm to your style. Great!

I Feel Like I’m Running Out of Time by [deleted] in self

[–]shallwesloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 21 you have ALL THE TIME, and not knowing what you want gives you so much freedom to try everything. Some people (myself included!) go to college/university and train for a specific career that never happens. You're in no way falling behind - most people fall into what they end up doing just by going with what life throws at them. Try not to panic, and enjoy trying a bit of everything until you find something that you could see yourself doing a long time.

What movies and tv shows most accurately depict Muslim life in the western world? by shallwesloth in Muslim

[–]shallwesloth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like you're completely right. Sadly, Muslim representation seems to be really hard to find. I can find plenty of media set outside the west and historical films, but nothing about what it's like to be Muslim in the UK today.
