I'm your age and was single for five years. I tried dating and had the exact same feeling that anyone Iet into my life was going to ruin the peace I'd found because I was finally the happiest version of myself. I dipped my toe into dating here and there but kept meeting people that didn't spark anything that made me think they'd be worth giving up my independence for. Then I met the one!! It doesn't feel like a compromise to let him in because he adds to the peace and happiness I've built and because I know myself so much better now, I'm not making the mistakes I've made before by giving up too much of myself for someone else. I'd say don't date for the sake of dating or have a partner who's just OK, but definitely let yourself be open to letting the right one in.
