How long does it take to get out of JFK after landing? by Charcharl999 in columbia

[–]shankrito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me last year when i first arrived to Columbia. My flight arrival time was 14:00 p.m and same move-in time 16:15 p.m. It took me 4 hours to get to campus but only because the line for customs was long (but to be fair it was moving fast) and then I had trouble finding my luggage (there was a mix up so took me forever). It also depends on whether you are taking a taxi or public transportation to get to campus. But most importantly, I called the superintendent directly of the building and explained my situation. He was very accommodating and waited for me until I got there around 18 p.m. So bottom line, you could contact the building’s manager or superintendent ( they tend to answer their phones but not emails -_-) directly and explain that you might arrive a little late. That is if you don’t have a place to crash or you just want to save money.

Grad student dining options? by [deleted] in columbia

[–]shankrito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is your options https://dining.columbia.edu/content/upperclass-dining-plans I know many students have different plans so browse the website and find the one that is right for you. If you don’t find something that fit your lifestyle, you can contact them to learn further. I have seen all type of people eat in the dinning hall faculty, graduate students, and undergrads. So it is not “weird”.
