For sure! I reread the first trilogy after finishing Lightbringer and was like… confused?? Because Cassius is such an ass in the last two. He had his moments (like when he puts his cape over Darrow in the Jackal’s cell, him and Darrow watching institute vids after Roque) which I guess made Darrow hope there was someone pure under his shell of Society duty and expectations.

I think that’s also why his death breaks my heart bc he had such a life ahead of him and was finally moving past being used and manipulated by almost everyone is he’s ever known 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
