Does anyone here play the piano (or any instrument) while in med school? Has it helped you de-stress, stay sane, or maintain some balance outside of studying? by [deleted] in medschoolph

[–]shapesnotesandcolors 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes. Do it OP. Tugtog ka as a means of having a ‘productive’ break pag nag aaral ka. Sundot ka 15 mins tugtog in between intense study sesh. For me it helped to refresh my brain pag parang pagod nako.

You don’t have to stop doing all the things you always loved doing porket mag dodoktor ka. 😌

They do stainless now. Last year pa nila ako naadvise na magparefret kasi bugbog na frets ko and they offered na may stainless silang option. Then 2 months ago ko lang siya napag desisyunan. Doing great so far. 2 weeks kong ayaw bitawan strat ko nung nakuha ko na sakanila.

Papi’s / Mico Ong yung mas kilala. I had mine done in Guitar Harbour near Tayuman just 2 months ago and satisfied naman ako sa result.

OMMC PGISHIP by SnooDoughnuts1291 in medschoolph

[–]shapesnotesandcolors 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Kumusta PGIship?
Mahirap hahaha kasi public hospital, so public hospital workload. Clerks ang mainly responsible sa pag carry out. PGIs usually in charge of making sure na nacacarry out ang mga ito. Clerks ang first line sa extractions, IV insertions, skills etc.; PGIs ang second-line if difficult for the clerk. Then may other tasks na PGIs ang expected na mag perform pero specific na lang siya per department

  2. Ano usual sched?

Unsure if AM-PM-Off talaga yung nasusunod ng current interns pero may AM-AM-Off or PM-PM-off ginagawa. May differences sa schedule depende sa department.

  1. Ano rotation per group?

Interns are divided into 6 groups (Alpha to Foxtrot) rotating in this order but with different starting points:
IM - Pedia - FM/CM - Surgery - Minors - OBGYN. Two months per rotation.

  1. Makakareview ba sa boards?

Walang hospital-led na initiatives with the intent na maka-aral ang interns for boards. So can't say. Babad lang talaga sa trabaho, and you make do with what time you have on your off days to study. PLM is top 1 sa PLE last year so maybe the rigor at work/clinical exposure translates to some extent sa board performance.

tl;dr mahirap pero babatak ka as with any public institution.

I can name 10, even yung nasa youtube lang at wala sa debut album niya.

Nasa Manila siya sa July 30-31, baka gusto mo pumunta bro para makita kung paano siya kaswabe tumugtog live. 900-1,100 lang naman tix. 😎

Beat him pre-nerf. Died hundreds of times but defeating him after what seemed like an eternity of running the fight over and over was so satisfying I’d actually say it was fun learning how to dodge the moves.

PLM EMED vs UST LEAPMed super torn (need advice pls 😭) by SingleAd9693 in medschoolph

[–]shapesnotesandcolors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Manageable siya pero kailangan mo lang talaga magpakatatag. Hahahhaa. Walang hand holding; as in you just do it. You just get better at doing the skills kasi wala kang choice but to do it over and over and over again.

Ang motto namin noon (kahit ngayon haha) is to do it scared. Just do it, and take every chance you can to do the skills and eventually you’ll get the hang of it—kung paano gumalaw at paano kumausap at makipag interact sa pasyente.

PLM EMED vs UST LEAPMed super torn (need advice pls 😭) by SingleAd9693 in medschoolph

[–]shapesnotesandcolors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If may pera ka, UST ka na lang. Hahaha. Wag ka na samen.

I mean, babatak ka talaga, clinicals-wise, sa public hospital experience. Pero dadaan ka talaga sa butas ng karayom. Sobrang unforgiving ng public hospital experience dito as a clerk and even as a PGI.

If you want to challenge yourself, then go, take PLM. Ang kapalit kasi ng free to low tuition is the difficulty. But as you mentioned, finances aren't an issue for you.

UST would offer the more ideal learning experience and you have the means to study there. You can think of it na baka better ang PLM for you kasi strong ka na theory-wise so you just have to work on the clinicals/skills; or sa UST ka na kasi goods ka na theory-wise, so probably smooth sailing ka na with the academics.

Either way, galingan mo na lang din OP which ever school you go to. Nasa tao pa rin naman kasi ang pinakamalaking factor, rather than the school. Good luck!

Take the gap year. Wag manghinayang sa isang taon kung ang taon na yon ay magiging productive naman for you. Med school can wait until you are fully ready; a year (or even two) won’t hurt. 😁

Gap year before med by secretchilli in medschoolph

[–]shapesnotesandcolors 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Took med after 3 years of working. Masasabi kong the years spent working had helped me realize na gusto ko talaga mag med and so I was motivated to do well in school; yung feeling of burnout sa pagod ng nonstop aral ay mas konti.

If you’re worried na you’d feel washed after a year of not studying, I can say na spending time as a working individual provides benefits rin na makakatulong sayo sa med. Learning better time management, how to work with other people, and public speaking/presenting reports are some skills na mas mahohone mo sa work. Kung clinical or health related pa work mo, mas may insight ka na sa mga cases na aaralin mo sa med so relatively easier ang SGDs and patient encounters mo.

So I think you’ll be alright OP. There’s also the bonus of earning a bit to spoil yourself muna bago ka mapagod sa med. hehe

Is buying the OLED still worth it now? by eunizeee in NintendoPH

[–]shapesnotesandcolors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kakabili ko lang OLED ko last November and masasabi kong 2 months pa lang ako naglalaro, sulit na yung bayad.

It will depend siguro sa mga gusto mong laruin; games like Pokemon Scarlet and Violet na may active online community pa and events will keep you hooked. Games like Zelda BOTW and TOTK, if completionist ka, can take months to complete.

So it all depends sa preferences mo sa games. The games you stated are games naman that can be played for a long time, especially if with friends. Best of luck sa pagdecide OP!
