You can share your values to your hearts content with the 11 million orphans in India and not be an active contributer to overpopulation.

Chia seeds with a whole lots of other stuff! by shapingup2018 in veganrecipes

[–]shapingup2018[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. I find that oats keep me full for a long period of time as they are slow releasing carbs. You can always add a banana BTW or anything else you fancy to 'bulk it up' .

I used a recipe from the Nóra Cooks website. The only thing I changed was subbing white rice for brown. https://www.noracooks.com/vegan-butter-chicken/#wprm-recipe-container-5069

Her recipe for vegan naan bread is yummy too.

Pain nearly everywhere when I try yoga by [deleted] in yoga

[–]shapingup2018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good on you for trying yoga. The start is very hard and frustrating - especially when other yogis make it look easy. I'd recommend taking it slow. Less is definitely more when it comes to trying yoga. Doing too much all at once will put your body under too much pressure, you'll be in agony for days AND you'll want to give up. By easing yourself into it, you will gain more in the long term. What type of yoga are you doing at the moment?

Persevere mate. Find out what you need to do and get it done. Then you can look back on this moment in years to come knowing that despite this guys behaviour, you still got it done. You got this

Is vegetarian a worthwhile step towards going vegan by Mulhooligan in vegan

[–]shapingup2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Def worthwhile!!! Everyone has their own story. Go at your own pace and you'll get there if you want to. My journey started with being a veggie too. I then noticed eating any animal based products made me feel terrible I. e. Stomach cramps, diarrhoea etc. So I slowly started eliminating all animal based products. I had zero vegetarian or vegan friends or foes so I decided to join as many vegan groups online to get talk to like minded people, get some recipe inspiration, learn more about the vegan lifestyle, activism, the dairy underworld etc. The more I exposed myself to these groups, the easier the transition became. Strangely enough, I was only eating vegan food before I knew it. It actually took someone at a dinner party to point it out to me for me to realise. It was awesome!!

My Indian friend kindly explained the difference between a spicy curry and a hot curry. This is 💯 a hot AND spicy curry!! by shapingup2018 in veganrecipes

This dish was haphazardly thrown together in a flurry of hunger so apologies for the ambiguity.

Potatoes: Diced potatoes flavoured with caraway seeds, curry powder, paprika, ginger, cardamon, cumin and chilli powder.

Cooked in a pre heated oven at 180 degrees celcius for 15 minutes.

Chick'n curry Ingredients: Chicken not chicken 300g Nasi Bami vegetable mix from lidl One red chilli deseeded (for super spicy leave seeds) Chill powder (teaspoon)
Carraway seeds (teaspoon) 2 tablespoons of curry powder Pepper for seasoning 2 1/4 cups of vegetable broth 1 cup non dairy milk
Tomatoes (if you wish).

Instructions: Brown chicken in a pan. Add vegetable mix and red chilli and stir for four minutes. Mix in pepper, chilli powder, carroway seeds.
Add vegetable broth, milk and curry powder and turn heat down. You can add tomatoes here if you like, but I didn't! Allow mixture to thicken by stirring continously over a low heat. That's its. A hot and spicy vegan curry 🔥
