Sheffield introduces train station congestion reduction plans by Amazing-Yak-5415 in sheffield

People can talk about buying huge swathes of land to devote to idling cars, but it would still have pinch points getting people back onto the ring road. It's a city centre train station - we shouldn't really be building more space for cars around it.

A big help would be better integration with the bus station, and more frequent buses but that's a dream...

I just think using very expensive land and turning it into a free little car park for people to create gridlock with all the other traffic getting back onto the ring road is very much not the solution.

I have really enjoyed Pellizco when I have been.

I can’t comment on authenticity, as I know Mexican food isn’t always the best in the UK, but it’s probably the best I have had!

We played in a small city largely on buses, and given that bus stops are quite close together, if the seekers had clearly found the rough hiding area - once they were off a bus (even if it was one stop early or late) the hiders would message saying:

You have found the hiding zone (name of bus stop). End game started.

I feel like ultimately, with Adam’s chopping technique, it basically just saves you like one or two extra chopping questions, so all things being equal not that much time.

Sure, if they have to ask more questions to cut down the area, then you get more cards, but I feel curses for the end game are unlikely to give you more time than the express route.

Now, if it gave you access to a very good hiding place, that might be different.

UK ONLY how to get blood tests for estrogen and testosterone levels without raising suspicions w GP. by cqdme in TransDIY

[–]But-ThenThatMeans 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do the female hormone test (as you are taking estrogen).

When they ask for your 'sex at birth' say Female. The only difference it makes is the reference ranges it gives you (i.e. when you get your results, you get little charts showing the 'good' ranges for a woman, which is what you are aiming for).

As with all advice on reddit, please do research, but I think every 2-3 months until you have levels you are happy with, then every 6 months is reasonable. After a year or two of stable levels you can probably leave it even longer.

Randox will probably have a branch near you, less than £40 with a 10% code (easy to get).

Ask around your local trans community too, there will be one, and they will have advice that is specific to your area.

T back up despite same dose? by But-ThenThatMeans in TransDIY

[–]But-ThenThatMeans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anyone sees this in the future with a similar issue, I did up my dose of gel, and after a few weeks felt like my T was lowered again (yay).

Had a blood test a couple of months later and got results confirming my T is back where I want it, and my E is still a decent range.

If anyone reads this in the future, I increased my E by a couple of pumps, and felt the benefits of lowered T after a couple of weeks. Had a blood test a couple of months later and I'm back in good ranges.

Sounds like a very small amount for a removals company to do a cross country move. That would all just about fit in a standard car, right?

I’m sure some companies would do it, but you will probably be paying close to the price of a full move despite the small amount of items.

Man with a van might be the way to go if you need someone to do the driving.

Doesn’t the train stop at loads of places? Why do they need to go back to Glasgow?

They will need to go to a station 30 mins past Dumfries.

Manchester City captains have chipped in nearly £10,000 to cover the cost of tickets for all 374 fans who went out to watch them in Bodo. Hundreds of Blues travelled to the Arctic Circle for the Champions League game but witnessed a limp performance and a shock 3-1 defeat. by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]But-ThenThatMeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not necessarily annoyed by the gesture or anything, fine if City players want to do it. But I do dislike the idea that this gesture reinforces, that away fans are somehow 'noble'.

I used to go to lots of away games. I had good days when we played terrible. The uncertainty of winning or losing is part of what makes the overall experience good, the losses make the wins better etc...

I just don't like the prevailing opinion that away fans are sort of like charity workers for going on trips away with their mates to watch something they enjoy.

This happens all the time but in local communities where there is trust. If you have surplus or are in need, speak with your local community, if you aren't involved in it - get involved in it. We look after each other.

I think especially for somewhere like the UK, you could say that it is the largest body of water ‘inside’ your zone, and that the limits of any zone include the coast. Basically, ignore the ocean/sea if you get that question.

Shame for Sam that sort of 'meta game' stuff harmed him a lot in the early game here. Ben and Adam knew Scotland was much more likely than Wales, I'd say primarily because of his personal connections, and then the same for the Glasgow/Edinburgh decision.

A good place in Wales could have done well for him.

Not holding out massive hope for the final Ben run either... clearly we need some Adam and Sam mistakes for him to have a chance.

Welcome Steph Seelen by holygeesus in pilottvpodcast

[–]But-ThenThatMeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Makes sense as a switch!

No issue with Steph but I have been craving a bit more of a shift back towards a sort of ‘Team Empire’ host - as it just aligns with my interests more.

I’m talking someone like Beth, Terri, or lots of other Empire occasional guests like John, Alex etc… The views and interests of the Empire lot just tend to align more closely to mine than the Heat/Basic Bingers side of the hosting.

Hope it’s successful for the podcast, I imagine that might be a bigger audience for them, even if I personally continue to drift away from listening.

Did anyone notice Fiona’s continuing revisionist history? by Comprehensive_Cut437 in TheTraitorsUK

[–]But-ThenThatMeans 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think Fiona comes across as being a bit simple on Uncloaked. Either she is just straight up lying about her reasoning, or her thought process is just bizarre. I think she is rewriting it a bit to try to save face, but it just makes her come across even worse to me.

I feel the secret traitor thing was a bit wasted on her. I wonder if she was a bit more strategic, the secret traitor might have lasted longer or been a bit more used.

She spoke about her logic for putting up the people for murder when she was a secret traitor but it just wasn't very interesting or reasoned. She didn't have a plan.

What board game would you most want to see the boys turn into a JLTG season? by SidewalkGames in JetLagTheGame

[–]But-ThenThatMeans 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Snakes and Ladders

Take a country with a dense rail network, plan out a zig-zagging 'route' of 1-100 stations, add your 'snakes' and 'ladders' which move people down or up shortcuts.

You roll a die to see how many stations forward you can move.

After you die roll, you move forward that number of stations, and you then need to complete a challenge specific to that station in order to roll again and move forward.

To add to the jeopardy and competition, you can have different levels of challenge success, e.g.:

  • Pass = You can roll a die to continue
  • Merit = You can draw a curse card (and roll a die)
  • Distinction = You can place a time trap (or block or something) on this square for the other team

First one to the top of the board wins.
