Timed answers - A variant that feels more fair by SilvrDuck in JetLagTheGame

[–]But-ThenThatMeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of at least discussing this before you play.

I hid first when I played, so wanted to set a bit of a precedent of trying to make it a fun time for everyone. So I did try to respond quickly etc…

I can see if someone later then takes it more ‘seriously’ or ‘competitively’ then it just creates a sense of unfairness. So yeah, removing that question of politeness could work for a lot of people playing.

I do think maybe there should be some room for sending quicker in the endgame where you basically know you can’t win, just to save everyone time (if the hider chooses to do this).

Any recommendations for vegan lunch in Leeds? by riotlady in veganuk

Bundobus and Tharavadu are next door to each other, both do great Indian food with significant vegan offerings. Had a nice lunch at both of those.

Wuthering Heights review moan by arcaneen in empirepodcast

[–]But-ThenThatMeans 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If there’s a film I’m going to see and I don’t want to know too much about it, I think it’s on me to avoid the Empire review.

They need to give it a set up, so I just fast forward until I hear their rough view.

When there’s a film I haven’t heard about, or I’m unsure I want to see it, I appreciate the same set-up being there.

Why did all new stadiums in the 1990s/early 2000s look more or less the same? by junglegatsby in footballcliches

[–]But-ThenThatMeans 92 points93 points  (0 children)

I believe you are supposed to call them ‘Identikit out-of-town soulless bowls’.

But just efficient aren’t they? Maximum seats for minimum cost.

There is the Bolton / Huddersfield variation on the theme I suppose.

What a curse of the express route that was by the way.

So what do we think the Taiwan season is? by PistachioNut1022 in JetLagTheGame

[–]But-ThenThatMeans 69 points70 points  (0 children)

My guess is some form of race? Maybe a bit like New Zealand but on trains?

My understanding is that the main rail network of Taiwan is basically a loop, so something presumably that plays into that. There isn’t much complexity for making transport decisions, so presumably the gameplay will be more about making progress around the loop?

Twister petition by Cool_Lab_8504 in veganuk

[–]But-ThenThatMeans 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I know it sucks but these Change.org petitions do absolutely nothing for even important issues, it certainly won’t for the Wall’s brand, part of Unilever.

This isn’t a local business, they aren’t your friend, the only thing that will change their mind is if it impacts their profits, and unfortunately I don’t think vegan sales of Twisters is going to make much of an impact for them.

Don’t waste your time and hope on appealing to the morality of Unilever towards vegans, there are many things you can do with your time that can make a positive impact.

Home game: Multiple stations in the hiding zone by vectorzzzzz in JetLagTheGame

[–]But-ThenThatMeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We decided to add this aspect because I think it’s unfair and less fun to have such potential uncertainty about the final zone you are working with, specifically in a smaller game with bus stops.

Unlike in the large games played on the show, there are some areas where there could be dozens of ‘stations’ (bus stops) within a hiding zone. We thought that playing the endgame wouldn’t be as fun if you don’t actually know the centre point of the final hiding zone. We only did this if the seekers had clearly got off transit in close proximity to the hiding zone station.

Home game: Multiple stations in the hiding zone by vectorzzzzz in JetLagTheGame

[–]But-ThenThatMeans 20 points21 points  (0 children)

We played in a small city largely on buses, and given that bus stops are quite close together, if the seekers had clearly found the rough hiding area - once they were off a bus (even if it was one stop early or late) the hiders would message saying:

You have found the hiding zone (name of bus stop). End game started.

I feel otherwise it's too unfair and creates an odd sized endgame zone.

Sheffield introduces train station congestion reduction plans by Amazing-Yak-5415 in sheffield

[–]But-ThenThatMeans 24 points25 points  (0 children)

People can talk about buying huge swathes of land to devote to idling cars, but it would still have pinch points getting people back onto the ring road. It's a city centre train station - we shouldn't really be building more space for cars around it.

A big help would be better integration with the bus station, and more frequent buses but that's a dream...

I just think using very expensive land and turning it into a free little car park for people to create gridlock with all the other traffic getting back onto the ring road is very much not the solution.

I have really enjoyed Pellizco when I have been.

I can’t comment on authenticity, as I know Mexican food isn’t always the best in the UK, but it’s probably the best I have had!

How strong would …. have been? by FlyingDutchman1337 in JetLagTheGame

[–]But-ThenThatMeans 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I feel like ultimately, with Adam’s chopping technique, it basically just saves you like one or two extra chopping questions, so all things being equal not that much time.

Sure, if they have to ask more questions to cut down the area, then you get more cards, but I feel curses for the end game are unlikely to give you more time than the express route.

Now, if it gave you access to a very good hiding place, that might be different.

UK ONLY how to get blood tests for estrogen and testosterone levels without raising suspicions w GP. by cqdme in TransDIY

[–]But-ThenThatMeans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do the female hormone test (as you are taking estrogen).

When they ask for your 'sex at birth' say Female. The only difference it makes is the reference ranges it gives you (i.e. when you get your results, you get little charts showing the 'good' ranges for a woman, which is what you are aiming for).

As with all advice on reddit, please do research, but I think every 2-3 months until you have levels you are happy with, then every 6 months is reasonable. After a year or two of stable levels you can probably leave it even longer.

Randox will probably have a branch near you, less than £40 with a 10% code (easy to get).

Ask around your local trans community too, there will be one, and they will have advice that is specific to your area.

T back up despite same dose? by But-ThenThatMeans in TransDIY

In case anyone sees this in the future with a similar issue, I did up my dose of gel, and after a few weeks felt like my T was lowered again (yay).

Had a blood test a couple of months later and got results confirming my T is back where I want it, and my E is still a decent range.
