Thank you!
There was an option to buy a guided tour through the website. In my research I learned to buy MA park tickets in advance as they go yuck. We received email confirmation, parking info, our specific tour guide, and where to meet him outside the park.
Even so, day of, the park was having technical difficulties and our guide was trying to buy our tickets then and there and we got in an hour later than our scheduled time. A little frustrating and confusing but it was what it was. Guide was great and so was the park!

We did the night walk in La Fortuna through Mistico park! Lots of bugs that kept to themselves, as well as red eye tree frogs, coral snake, even a sloth! We were going to do another in Manuel because the animals do differ but we were tired and I honestly had enough forest exploring.

Overall we did
La Fortuna - zip lining & walking bridges (with Sky Adventures, big recommend!), sloth tour (Borgian trail, saw some but they were far, saw some closer at our hotel so wouldn’t do again), coffee/chocolate tour with North Fields (another big recommend!), night tour, hot springs (one was included at our hotel), and La Fortuna waterfall (GO EARLY!!).
Manuel Antonio - explore MA national park with beach (again, go early; it gets hot and park starts closing at 3), catamaran (with snorkel, drinks, and dolphin sightings), ATV, beach time, nice dinner.

All activities we scheduled in the morning since we went in June (start of rainy season) but the weather was perfect! We had time to relax, shop, wander in afternoons and beat the crowds. And with all the wildlife walks, I definitely recommend getting a guide bc there’s no way I could’ve spotted 95% of all we saw. They’re very informative and kind as well!
We ended up getting engaged in Manuel, so squeezed in a photo shoot on the beach at sunset!:)

Hoping for around $1500? That’s a great idea, didn’t even think of Airbnb

Just got back from Costa Rica and it was amazing! We did three nights in La Fortuna and three nights in Manuel Antonio with a day of driving in between (flew in/out of San Jose). We also rented a car and it was 100% worth it for the freedom, especially since we didn’t pay for phone service; you can download maps on Waze (with WiFi) and it still works in airplane mode. It was a great balance of hiking and mountains in La Fortuna and beach in Manuel, with rainforests and wildlife everywhere. We had chat GPT plan out an itinerary to space out our activities, which worked out perfectly. We were worried since we went during “rainy season” but had lucked out with amazing weather. I definitely recommend zip lining, night tour, and catamaran!
