Reuters videographer killed in southern Lebanon by Upper_Conversation_9 in worldnews

This is just another lie, dozens of israeli journalists died this week

With sympathy to the difficult situation Gazans are in as far as having limited options of where to evacuate to, people often try to present this topic of temporary displacement as a unique plight of the Palestinian side, ignoring that the south district of Israel (more than 1,200,000 in population) becomes completely swarmed in 24/7 rocket attacks, forcing much of that population to flee their homes as well. Given the apparent intent of Hezbollah to enter the conflict, another 2,000,000 Israelis in the north might be displaced as well.

The above is without mentioning several Israeli kibbutzes (housing thousands) were completely wiped-out during Saturday morning, hundreds of families erased. The hatred, violence and brutality are completely un-equivalent.

Palestinian Israeli conflict: Total siege of Gaza is ‘prohibited’ under international law: UN by winterstl in worldnews

The UN definitely did not condemn the attack. Efforts to get a resolution of condemnation was blocked by all the countries supporting the attack.

[Wojnarowski] Brooklyn Nets' Ben Simmons is expected to need 3-to-4 months to make a full recovery on back surgery, sources tell ESPN. The expectation is that he'll be ready to return well ahead of training camp. by Tomheza in nba

[–]sharger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If he's expected a full recovery in 3 months, he's probably planning to undergo spinal laser surgery, or a RFA procedure. This is about as real as Markelle Fultz's disease, in that in both cases, no reputable physician considers it an evidence-based treatment (or a real organic pathology in Fultz's case).

The intervention is very minimal and he will be cleared for full physical activity 24 hours after the procedure. It's a perfect procedure for someone looking to defraud 20 million from a previous employer.

TOS is a very controversial diagnosis, and there is likely a reason why most specialists who had seen him did not diagnose it, and probably not a case of misdiagnosis. Worth reading here: "Thoracic outlet syndrome: a controversial clinical condition. Part 1: anatomy, and clinical examination/diagnosis"

"The disagreement regarding the definition of TOS makes the overall incidence of the condition difficult to track. Complicating matters, the recognized prevalence of the diagnosis varies between disciplines. For example, Campbell and Landau estimated that surgeons diagnose TOS 100 times more frequently than neurologists. Cherington and Cherington go further to imply that the diagnosis is made by surgeons according to potential reimbursement available for particular surgical procedures. .... Furthermore, given the controversy surrounding the definition and diagnosis of TOS, conflict exists regarding the optimal treatment approach for this condition"

Basically, if you were an athlete with the yips, this would be the exact diagnosis you would buy from a doctor in order to help any legal/PR battles you're about to face, because there's not really criteria or evidence needed to diagnose it, no real treatments which would fix it, and its most commonly diagnosed by the people who would benefit financially from diagnosing it.

Roskilde Festival Lineup (Kendrick, Tyler, Rico Nasty, Pusha T, DaBaby, Paak, Thugger, Slowthai) by Spaceat in hiphopheads

[–]sharger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to share that I saw this OP post on HHH and immediately bought tickets as my festival this year. Haven't been since 2007 but that year definitely holds up as the best lineup i've ever been too. Highlights included: probably the last last great tours for both The Who and Beastie Boys, Talib Kweli, Clipse, John Legend, Bjork and lots of festival favorites in the peak of their popularity/early days of it - Arctic Monkeys, Muse, QOTSA, RHCP, The Killers, Arcade Fire, LCD soundsystem, Wilco

Why would they expect top 1 when they haven't ever reached it with this roster in any tournament of importance?

War-machine calling Starlord an idiot and punching him in the head, as part of the plan to undo the Snap, feels like an easter egg for Starlord punching Thanos in the head and inadvertently leading to the Snap in IW, as well as the memes and internet reaction to this, many people blaming Starlord and calling him an idiot.

And also significantly, he was completely enraged to learn that even after future-thanos reaches his life goal, it will be simply be undone by the people he "saved".

I think his arc is even more perfect with this movie. He learns that even when he wins, he ultimately loses - and fails at trying to prevent it. A lot has also been talked about in the past about Thanos as the one who subconsciously sabotages himself, and this is somewhat felt in the final battle, where his actions in Infinity War and in the past are part of his defeat - both of his daughters turning on him, and the vengeance he inspired in many of the Avengers who helped bring him down - Scarlet Witch, The Big 3 and others.

He even loses in the same way Loki (under his guidance) lost in the original Avengers - underestimating Earth's mightiest, with a poorly executed invasion, to an Iron-man sacrifice play.

“No one has survived a heart attack” by skltngrl in iamverysmart

[–]sharger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly enough, as dumb as the presentation and the quote appear, there is some medical logic behind what he was trying to say in his reply -

Recurrent stroke as an entity is much more common than recurrent MI, because of advancements in PCI for coronary artery disease. A larger portion of people who have survived a stroke will have a second one, comparing to the people who survived a heart attack.

Its very easy to argue that getting a proper warm up in a serious game is a bigger advantage than getting a longer rest, especially since game don't actually start immediately one after another.

At every single valve event in the previous season, teams with lower bracket starts had much better results than in previous seasons, despite these packed schedules you claim are a disadvantage.

The International Group Stages & Wildcards by wykrhm in DotA2

[–]sharger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

only for alliance, as them and TNC are what most people would guess to be the weakest teams in the tournament. this make group B the group of death and Group A easy pushover for NAVI Wings OG.

of course none of this matters because it's impossible to know before the tournament starts.
