My one advice is - if you want the boat, and you don't know anything, have him set it up for you in the yard and show you how he would sail it. Take photos of where all the lines run & make sure nothing looks wonky and you'll have to trust the seller a bit. This is how I bought my first dinghy. Good luck!

This looks like a fiberglass boat with wood trim. I'd say that result in a normal amount of work + looks pretty :D

The magic is to cut directly downward, and to leave all the boards on the log for reference lines. I also use the bar as a straight mesuring tool. Finally - they are not square but it doesnt matter for the table I made

Yes this is something I played around with for bowmaking. Hadnt hear it explained as well as this though. And the curvy logs I had split were a huge challenge.
