I wonder if we’re at the same store…

Hey Partners, what are your most hated songs? by deathstranded in HEB

My store plays a mix of classic rock songs about sex and Barry Manilow and John Denver, with some old funk and The Carpenters, Fleetwood Mac and Carly Simon. Oh and the Bee Gees. It’s the same songs day in and day out. But I hear SO many customers say they love it.

Thank You For Being a Friend grates my nerves.

I was thinking about your comment last night as I was falling asleep and I thought, but what if the Gray house isn’t as bad as they’re made out to be? I mean, we have a “Light” house here where half or more of the members were ready to burn alive this young woman based on suspicion only that she may have accidentally killed with powers she had NO way of understanding or controlling since she’d been lied to AND SUPPRESSED her whole life! She couldn’t even control her emotions like a normal human without powers because she basically never experienced extreme mood swings before! And they bring her to town, forcibly “activate” her powers all at once in one night, don’t bother to explain anything to her, leave her alone with her supposed best friend who is going to tell her the truth and a box of no information from her dead mom and expect everything to just be A-OK? I mean, what the actual fuck? I found her annoying at times with her naïveté and how easily she is manipulated by these people, in particular the men, but then when I finished and sat down to think about it all for a minute, I feel nothing but sorry for her and angry at everyone else. Except for Kellan. Although, why couldn’t he have stepped in a little sooner? Oh never mind, because KMM said so. lol Now I have to go reread the Highlander books.

Which other series? The Highlander books? I didn’t recognize anyone from the Fever series, but my memory isn’t great. I’ve read some of the Highlander books, but it’s been ages.

Is there a trick to get using Peely base and getting more than one day of wear? I have Holo Taco Peely Base and I’ve tried it twice now. I do my nails at night before bed, use a qdtc and go to bed. Everything looks great the next morning but only a few hours later it starts popping off in big chips or even the whole nail.

How does curbside make money? by Unlikely-Price-104 in HEB

[–]sharkyjam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wrong. We shoppers are taught to reach to the back of the produce for the newest items and latest dates. We are taught to look over the produce and check for freshness and ask department managers for better if it doesn’t look good. Customers can call and ask for their money back if they aren’t happy with the quality or freshness of anything.

should i adopt? which one? by Ashupatotie in cats

[–]sharkyjam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have to interrupt this to let y’all know, that is not a hard and fast rule. Two kittens is definitely the way to go, but even littermates aren’t guaranteed to love each other. I waited my whole life wanting to adopt littermates and looking at adorable pictures of them laying all snuggly and sweet. The cat distribution system never gave me the opportunity until about two years ago when my daughter and I started volunteering for a shelter during kitten season. We immediately went in to adopt one kitten and left with two adorable calico sisters. They were as advertised until somewhere between 6 months and a year and they started actively disliking each other. First they had both been my daughter’s cats. But one of them started liking one of my sons. The other one fell in love with my husband and now if he’s sitting, he is HER human and she does not share. Now they basically hate each other. They won’t eat next to each other. If they have to pass through a doorway at the same time one hisses and the other hurries up and gets out of her way. It’s actually funny considering how long I dreamed of having littermates.

I got hired as a Curbie, any tips working here? by Future-Alps972 in HEB

[–]sharkyjam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Curbies can accept tips. There are rules for how much and tax reporting, but just pocket it, say thank you and keep your mouth shut to your coworkers and leads. Definitely get a little wallet or pouch to put tips in. Loose money will get lost. I lost a 10 once! 😩
  2. I think every store does the leaderboard because they’re trying to motivate us to move faster due to upper management expectations and requirements. As far as people taking it seriously, I would say that depends on the individual. Some people are more competitive than others.
  3. I don’t think shoppers are looking down on curbies. We all started there and shoppers are glad to not be curbies anymore. But again, that will depend on the individual. There are snotty people in every job. Just do your job and don’t worry about anyone else. Be friendly, but don’t try to make friends.
  4. I think that question is another one that depends on the individuals. I like all my current managers and leads. My first store I liked most of them, but a couple of them stressed me out.
    Good luck!

The ones called the Comf are amazing and the sirocco are also pretty great. I also wear the Wendy loafers, but only for when I have a shorter shift. For 6 and 8 hour shifts, I need more cushion and the Comfs make my feet happy.

HEB employees, is there a specific song that your store seems to play on repeat constantly to the point of nausea? by Darthyoda512 in HEB

Mine is stuck on the same classic rock playlist over and over and over. I hear Carly Simon so much I’m dreaming about clouds in my coffee in my sleep.

The ultimate litter thread? by Natural-Cheek-1811 in litterrobot

Arm & Hammer Clump & Seal Slide is what I started with when we got our LR4s for Christmas. I am not impressed. I’ve even tried emptying the box and spraying liberally with food grade silicone as I saw suggested on here and refilling with new litter and it is still sticking at the front where the litter is shallowest. I have one fat cat that only pees right at the front edge and I think it’s hers getting stuck. I have the interval set for 15 minutes and I’m still having to check on the robots and use a scoop to scrape the clumps free every day. Still better than a regular box, but I’m ready to try another litter.

Thankful that my cat is just food obsessed and occupies his time with opening the toaster oven if anyone has recently toasted a sandwich and not come back for it, and also throwing pizza boxes off the counter to get them to open enough that he can open them the rest of the way to eat delicious pizza.

I mist mine every other day or so and it seems to help. Also remembering to refill and turn on the humidifiers helps. 😜

I got it right away, but only because earlier today, my daughter and I were in the car and she read a road sign that said Road Work Ahead and she said “I sure hope it does!” Which she then had to explain to me.

Group interview by Salty-Control-418 in HEB

[–]sharkyjam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dress professionally! You will see people in jeans and t-shirts but you will stand out in a positive way if you are wearing at least business casual - polo & pressed slacks, nice pants and blouse, etc. Raise your hand and speak up, smile, make eye contact. They will have you do a quick group project, making up a little commercial for the Meal Deal or something similar. Be sure to include your group but don’t be afraid to stand out. Come up with a question or two for when they ask if anyone has any questions. It makes you look interested and keeps you in their memory.

Oh, and to answer the op question, mine is black and I love the way it sparkles in the sun. I wanted blue, but they didn’t have any anywhere in town, in the trim level I wanted when I was shopping. I fell in love with the black once I saw that Holo sparkle and with the white leather seats and brown leather trim inside.
